David took a deep breath and finally asked one last question:
"I an no disrespect to your decision, Your Majesty. But even if you resolve to abide by the oracle from the Platinum Dragon God and await divine will and ultimate salvation, He has disappeared along with Tiamat. It’s very possible that He has gone to the ’Parallel Worlds’ you ntioned. Have you considered the possibility... what if the Platinum Dragon God, the Elder, cannot return?"
This ti, what followed was silence from the Silver Dragon King and the entire Dragon Court.
It almost ant that their world had been forsaken by both the gods and fate.
"I have said my piece. Since Your Majesty has made a decision, we shall not disturb you any further. I must return to the Continent to prepare for the war. I entrust my sister and children to the care of Dragon Island."
He wanted to take advantage of the fall of The Slaying King Star to reclaim his territory.
This would also help alleviate so pressure on the Chromatic Dragons’ legion on Toriel’s side.
As he spoke, he picked up the three sowhat anxious young ones, setting them down in front of him to give them so instructions.
But just as David, the dragon father, his expression sowhat dejected, steeled himself to turn and leave Dragon Island amidst his third daughter’s repeated calls of ’Daddy,’ and just as his dragon sister Tania couldn’t help but start to follow him:
"Wait."
David turned back, looking at the Silver Dragon King with confusion.
"Does Your Majesty have any commands?"
"Relying solely on yourselves, you are no match for the Elf Royal Court," said the Silver Dragon King.
David, however, simply smiled and said, "It’s still better than doing nothing at all. After all, I don’t want to suddenly go mad one day and, by the ti I co to my senses, find everyone dear to lying in pools of blood. That would be an absolute nightmare for the Chromatic Dragons too."
Speaking of which, David recalled Lizrite’s childhood experiences.
David suddenly paused. That’s right, he thought. Could Lizrite’s mother have been afflicted by the Dragon Mad Lock? Does that an the Dragon Mad Lock also exists on the Skanis Continent? After I reclaim my territory, I must take Lizrite to my mother-in-law’s to investigate. If she’s still alive, that is.
As for David’s words, the tal Dragons were filled with solemn respect, yet also a degree of inexplicable sha.
"Your courage shas , David Euthyphro. Therefore, I ask, could you perhaps stay on Dragon Island for a while to help your children familiarize themselves?" the Silver Dragon King proposed.
"?" David looked at the ancient dragon with so confusion, uncertain what he was getting at.
"While Dragon Island abides by the oracle and its dragons do not leave, this does not an we cannot provide help. Dragon Island has been isolated in the sea for thousands of years and has accumulated considerable resources. We still have so reserves. I will command the Claw of Justice to prepare a batch of war supplies to deliver to your Chromatic Dragons, for use against the enemy."
Upon hearing this, the tal Dragons were astonished.
If this were during the reign of the two Dragon Gods, this would be a clear case of aiding the enemy—and directly supplying arms at that!
David imdiately laughed. With a flick of his dragon tail, he scooped up his three daughters, who were SQUEALING as they tried to follow, and placed them back on his head.
"Then I thank Your Majesty for this generous gift."
As David and his family were leaving, the Silver Dragon King dismissed all the tal Dragons present.
"Alicia, what do you think?"
After a mont, a female Silver Dragon with a perfectly sculpted form erged from behind the Silver Dragon King. She calmly offered her assessnt, "Brave and decisive. He nearly embodies the strengths of both tal and Chromatic Dragons, yet also combines their flaws. A complex dragon. Hmm, and he doesn’t seem too bright."
The Silver Dragon King couldn’t help but burst into uproarious laughter.
For his daughter, who held herself in such high regard, this was already high praise.
"So, what is your decision?" he asked.
"I am willing to follow my father’s will, for the sake of the Dragon Race..."
"No. Don’t do it for , nor for anyone else. Follow your own heart."
"Then... I am willing to try engaging with him first," she said.
"Good. With that, I can leave in peace," said the Silver Dragon King, nodding in satisfaction.
"Where are you going?" Alicia suddenly looked up.
"Of course, I am going to the Grey Wilderness, the place where Our God perished. I want to see it for myself. If possible, I will try to retrieve Our God. This world cannot lose Them."
"But..." Alicia was noticeably anxious.
Just as David had said, even the Dragon Gods did not dare to claim they would definitely return... let alone her own father.
"There are no ’buts.’ As David Euthyphro said, it’s better to try than to do nothing at all."
"If I do not return, announce it in the Dragon Court."
The Silver Dragon King very solemnly placed a decree into the claws of his most capable daughter, then soared into the sky without looking back.
"Father!!!" cried the young Silver Dragon, her voice desolate in the snowy wind.
The world could not lose the Dragon Gods.
The absence of one Silver Dragon King, however, was inconsequential.
Successors would always rise.
And he was willing to beco the beacon that guided the two lost gods back to this world...
A beacon.
