Why is it always who’s so unlucky!!!
Alfonse was on the verge of tears. The arrow, as if alive, was homing in on his heart with ’precision guidance.’ No matter how he changed his flight path, he couldn’t evade its rapid approach.
To make matters worse, he had already expended all his acidic breath in one go.
I should never have emptied my Dragon Breath like David! I need to save so for ergencies! This was the revelation that struck Alfonse at this critical juncture between life and death.
"Brother!" Viola rushed over, her face filled with despair.
We’re done for! The loved ones in the basket below were equally stunned and filled with despair.
If this black dragon t with disaster, they would all be flattened like pancakes!
Just as all the dragons thought this suprely unlucky black dragon was about to et the powerful goddess Pafila again, a stream of acidic breath descended from the sky. It engulfed both the arrow of flowing light, which was about to strike the black dragon’s chest, and Alfonse himself.
The dragons fell silent.
Then they saw Alfonse, drenched in acid and looking like a drowned dragon, not the least bit angry. Instead, mirroring his sister, he looked up in shock and joyous disbelief, blurting out, "Mom!"
A mature black dragon broke through the somber clouds and descended from the sky.
It was indeed the forr lord of the Zeling Wetlands, the very one who had ’sold’ Alfonse and his sister under David’s claw...
"The Malicious Darkness—Lady Felicia! What brings you here?" David looked at the newcor with so astonishnt.
And, just as David had expected, without Alfonse and Viola to hold her back, Felicia had already beco a Legendary black dragon.
Felicia’s gaze, however, remained locked on the Moon Elf Chosen of God in the forest, the one who had launched the treacherous sneak attack. Without turning her head, she said, "David Uthos, I’ve co to cover your retreat. Take my children and leave this chaotic battlefield. The intensity of this war is not sothing they can take part in right now. And finally, give my regards to the powerful Goddess Pafila."
"I will. Thank you for your assistance, Lady of Malicious Darkness," David replied, now also considering leading the dragons onward to the Kutaro Desert.
As Felicia had stated, this was the first full-scale war in Skanis, initiated by a surprise full-army assault from the Dwarves. The battlefield was already teeming with High Elves, Dwarves, Beastn, and Drow. Furthermore, there were more Legendary figures present than one could count on both hands and feet. It truly wasn’t a conflict suitable for them to get involved in at their current level.
"Mom!" Viola cried out, her voice tinged with reluctance to leave.
"Constantly crying ’Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom’—have you no sha as a dragon?" Mofei grumbled this to himself, though inwardly, his heart twisted with a jealousy as sharp and cold as frozen pickled bamboo shoots.
He wondered how his own mother was doing now. Did she miss him and his siblings...?
Their family was almost large enough to form two whole flight squadrons.
anwhile, the siblings, who had been away from ho for over thirty years, eagerly wished to return to their mother’s protection. However, Felicia stopped them with a cold gaze. "Go now," she said, "leave this place. Of all the offspring I, Felicia, have birthed in my lifeti, only you two still live on the Pri Material Plane. Do not let the bloodline of our Montenegro end with you. That would make my arduous journey here worthwhile."
"Understood, Mom," Alfonse and his sister responded solemnly, flapping their still sowhat immature wings as they turned to follow David and depart.
Undoubtedly, the news Felicia brought was staggering.
To think that of all a Legendary Dragon’s offspring, only these two siblings remained. One could only imagine the ferocity of the battles over the years. It remained unclear whether this devastation was caused by the Elves, by their involvent in the divine war of the Chromatic Dragon Queen, or perhaps by both.
After all, David knew that this Lady of Malicious Darkness...
Was a devout follower of the Chromatic Dragon Queen—far more devout than his own ’mother,’ Pafila.
