"I was already full, but I bumped into a stray dog on the street and was planning to buy so fried chicken for it. Since you’re hungry too, I guess I can treat you", I said with a grin
Ariel was blushing furiously, biting her lip, her eyes turning red.
Why does she love biting her lip so much?
"Eliana" Damon called my na, sounding annoyed because what I said was indeed a bit over the line.
"Why did you insult Ariel?" Nick shouted.
I couldn’t help laughing. "Did I insult her? You’re really sothing."
I turned to leave. I wasn’t going to let these people spoil my good mood. The doctor said that if I have a good mood and stable hormones during pregnancy, the baby will have a better personality
After a hearty al, I planned to go ho, take a shower, and hit the sack.
Before bed, I got a ssage from Jones: Still want so fried chicken? I can drop it off.
What a kind hearted guy!
I replied, "No need, I’m already stuffed. Thanks though!"
Jones didn’t reply, so I peacefully drifted off to sleep, ready to work punctually the next day.
Day of the Dead was coming up quickly, and the company had already issued a holiday notice. Harry had given everyone a few days off
Oliver was also planning to go back to pay his respects this year, and I was going with him.
The day before the holiday, after work, I took my luggage and went to the airport with Oliver, ready to fly back ho overnight.
After a few hours of flying. I landed safely.
Before coming back, I contacted Jas, who was currently serving as my dad’s driver. He heard I was coming back and imdiately agreed to pick up from the airport in the middle of the night..
Jas was waiting outside the airport. Seeing Oliver and , he smiled slightly, quickly ca over, took my luggage, and addressed as "Ma’am"
"Just call Ms. Eliana from now on," I said with a laugh.
Jas was hired as our driver after Damon and I got married, so he always addressed as ’Ma’am." But now that Damon and I are divorced, there was no
need for that
Jas nodded and said. "All right, Ms. Eliana."
Then he politely greeted Oliver "Hello, Mr. Oliver"
"Thank you," my brother responded warmly.
"You’re welco "After loading our luggage, Jas drove us ho.
Coming back to the familiar house felt really nice. My parents were still up, waiting for Oliver and
I hugged my mom "Mom, I missed you and Dad so much."
She patted on the back. "We missed you too. Have you had dinner yet? I can cook sothing for you"
"We’ve eaten," I replied. "They had food on the plane."
My dad was chatting with Oliver. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious. After talking for a while, we each went back to our rooms to sleep. It was already midnight, and I was dead tired.
I slept until noon. My mom didn’t wake up for breakfast, so I got up and went straight to lunch.
"Is Damon back in the country?" my mom asked during lunch.
"I don’t know," I shook my head. I really hadn’t asked.
My father said seriously, "Eliana, you can’t keep in touch with him. He’s sent Ariel abroad to study, and he’s gone with her You can’t keep hoping"
"Dad, don’t worry I’m not into sell–punishnt," I replied.
"Good. There are plenty of people who like you. Don’t underestimate yourself," my father nodded approvingly
Tomorrow was the Day of the Dead. My grandparents had been gone for many years, and their tombs were in a cetery in the city. We would go there every year to pay our respects and pray for them.
My mom was preparing stuff to bring for a visit at ho when Luna called, "Eliana, you’re back?! Let’s hang out!"
"Where are we going?" I asked lazily, lounging on the couch.
"Let’s go grab a bite to eat!" Luna said excitedly ’Sofia and Clara are coming too. I’ll get Mitch to treat us. He hasn’t had a al with you guys yet."
I thought about it and decided it would be fun to have a al together. But I made a request to Luna first, "Sure, but I want roast chicken!"
"No problem, you can have as much as you want. I’ll ask him to find the best place" Luna replied.
After hanging up, Luna told Sofia and Clara in the group chat that I was back. They were excited to hear the news and agreed to co to dinner
In the evening. Luna sent the address of a restaurant. When I arrived, they were already waiting for . Mitch and Cooper were also there.
They were all happy to see and gathered around . Mitch and Cooper felt a bit awkward when they saw .
Our past relationships were a bit complicated, after all.
The restaurant was an open–air place serving roast chicken. The atmosphere was great.
Halfway through the al, Luna looked surprised and disgusted when she saw soone behind her. "Oh my god, Ariel’s back too?"
I turned around, and sure enough, it was Ariel and Damon.
A few days ago, she and I were fighting over a piece of fried chicken at the market. Now she’s here to fight for roast chicken?
What a coincidence
"Damon, you’re back?" Mitch greeted excitedly.
Damon was staring at . I turned my back and continued eating my chicken.
Luna rolled her eyes.
Ariel answered for Damon, "Yes, we ca back together. I saw on Facebook that you were eating roast lamb here, so I wanted to check it out. I didn’t know Eliana was here, too."
Mitch gave an awkward glance.
He must have posted his location on Facebook. What a pain.
"Damon, are you broke? Can’t even afford a roast chicken and have to bring her here to eat?" Luna’s temper had gotten bigger since her pregnancy.
Damon probably didn’t expect to run into us. He glanced at Ariel, his face dark. "I’ll pay the bill later."
"It’s not about you paying the bill. I just don’t welco you and Ariel here!" Luna said loudly, glaring at Ariel without any courtesy
Ariel imdiately changed her face, looking pitifully at Damon, then at Mitch and Cooper.
She apologized softly, "Sorry, Luna, I had no idea Eliana was here."
"Luna, I’m gonna hit the loo" I got up, didn’t bother to look at Damon and Ariel again, and headed straight to the restroom.
I could feel soone’s gaze following , but I didn’t bother to look back
As I ca out of the restroom and was about to wash my hands, Damon’s reflection appeared in the mirror. He looked at with a frown, "I didn’t know you were here. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have invited her."
"Does it matter?" I casually responded while washing my hands, "Your girlfriend seems to have so kind of inferiority complex, always trying to show off and steal the lilight in front of . Do you really think my encounters with her are all coincidences?"
