"Lara?" Catherine sat on her knees while she tried to make out the figure of her forr caretaker. "Is that you?"

"Dear child, what are you doing here? You are supposed to be safe!"

It was her. The one president told he had been searching for in the nearest villages surrounding the area they had found Catherine in.

"Lara," I intervened, "what are you doing outside the cell?"

"Princess Genevieve?" She recognised quickly. "Both of the princesses are here? They got both of you?"

If I had the ti and the energy to answer her, I would have but unfortunately I did not.

"Lara, what in the world are you doing here? You were supposed to be with Catherine."

"Yes, yes, princess. I was supposed to be. I noticed the people were following so I left her alone and they caught . It was the only way I could have saved her."

Saved her. Well, she needed to do it again for Catherine.

Wait a minute. " who was it that got you? Do you know—"

She gasped before every movent around us stopped.

"What is it?" I whispered in the silence, rattled against my bones, and sohow my fear grew to an extent, so that I knew death was near.

"I can hear the footsteps." Lara whispered so low. I could not even hear her words, but my ear picked them up because of the danger we were in. "People are coming."

Catherine looked at , I felt her eyes on . She was waiting for to make a decision and I already had made one. It was the one she was not going to agree with.

"Go, Lara. Run." Lara held my eyes for a mont before running and running away as fast as her feet could take her.

As she started to run away and was no longer visible, Catherine cried, and turned to . I knew she was going to be angry, furious even. She was going to cry but if Lara was fighting and people were coming, she would not have the chance to.

"Wh—"

Before Catherine could even complete the word, we started to hear the footsteps. They were much clearer now. And I knew that they were coming into our direction.

"I do not understand why every cell is so empty. Has they never kept anyone here? It only serves them right with the amount of cri in the streets. When you punish no one, of course, everyone does it—"

I recognise that voice. I rembered it. But how could it be true?

"Sister," a man ca to stop in front of the cell, and I could not make him out, especially with the lack of light, " I have your gift here."

"Christopher, I swear to God. What possibly can be in a cell? If it is so good or animals that you think will bring joy or entertainnt, I do not need it now—"

The man looked at , and I felt chills down my spine. I would have told Catherine to co inside. We had not already moved as soon as the man looked at us.

Such dark eyes, and feeling eyes. I thought vampires with red eyes were dangerous, but apparently humans could be as well.

"They are not animals." he comnted, looking at , if returning back to who his Sister was. "But they look like them and I promise you, my dear sister, they will bring you joy rather than entertainnt."

"Well, now I see for myself. Move!"

It was then, slowly, that her face ca to light, and the recognition settled in as the realisation of who she was.

Queen Anastasia; the very Queen who had proven herself unworthy of ruling a kingdom without ruthless, she was. Even to her own son and a pregnant woman.

Yet she was here in front of , looking at so greedily like I was the answer of everything.

"Christopher.." she chuckled and it was a joy out of delight. "You did not—"

She chuckled and if I was right in the dim light that was provided, then her eyes were tearful. She jumped up and down, while giggling, the Eerie sound filling up the prison we were in.

"You found her! You got her for . The trump card that is going to give us everything we want!"

What?

I shifted a little so that my shoulder was covering Catherine behind my back. She was shivering, the poor child, if I could hug her I would.

But my sympathy was taken over with my need to protect my sister.

Anastasia was still jumping in the air, before turning around, and hugging her brother, whom I rembered now eting.

If I was correct, then he was the chief and commander of the army once.

"I cannot tell you how happy I am, dearest brother—"

"Extend that happiness to us as well. Tell us why we are here."

Anastasia froze at the sound of my voice and slowly turned around. She ca close to the bars. That were the only thing keeping her away from us. Otherwise, sothing told that she would have stopped right on top of my body.

"Look at that. The mouse talks." She chuckled. "When I t you years ago, I thought it would take you ages to talk like that in front of but look."

"Ages ago," I repeated, "well said. It shows on your face."

Her eyes widened at my words, and I knew my words hit what I was aiming for.

"Why, you little—" she hissed like a snake before stopping herself. Anastasia closed her eyes and took a step back before smiling like an idiot. "No, why would I use my words on you and I can use sothing else?"

"Scoot back." I mouthed, because it got my words out, and I knew Catherine heard them.

"Brother, open the door. I have so frustration I must take out and soone and unfortunately, it has to be done physically on soone I saw was a mouse."

As Christopher began to open the cell, without a word, Anastasia widened her smile slowly. "A mouse can play the role of a cat, a tiger can attempt to kill it."
