We stared at each other and my friend understood that I did not want to et him. relyn closed her eyes slowly, giving a blink before shaking her head subtlety.

I had to et him.

"Genevive," Camille touched my shoulder, "if you were to excuse us now. I suppose you two require so monts together alone."

Not really, no. "That’s quite alright—"

"We would be right inside. If you need anything, just give us a call." Marilyn smiled and whisked Camille away as Chiara followed them out, slowly, purposely delaying herself to communicate with her nephew.

Tristan had barely exited the hall of the palace, and had not even touched the ground of the garden yet. His eyes were on , even though he was listening to his aunt attentively.

Even from afar, the man was able to get my heart beat so quickly that I was about to sweat from it.

It affected . He affected .

I was the one who cut off the eye contact. My eyes went here and there, finding anything no matter how small to focus on instead of him. They ca up with nothing.

Chiara was done talking to him, and he gave her a nod. It only made wonder more about what they were talking about.

By the ti I looked away from his anut had started walking back, trust and had already started to co towards .

He would always keep so distance in between us. It would usually be three or four steps. The closest was at two, but even crossed the distance, coming face-to-face with only for to take a step away.

He stopped, froze in his place and gave a questioning look.

I smiled a little. "I am awake."

Tristan nodded, his expressions held back. "I was made aware. Good."

"I thought you might not be happy." The words left my mouth quickly then I realised, but it did not affect him, not in the way I thought they would.

"I am always going to be happy in your presence, Genevive."

"Whether I am conscious or not?" I asked. "would you be okay being in my presence if I were just a vegetable? Not being able to talk to stand or look or even hear you?"

He smiled, or rather just stretched his lips. "I see you have been talking already. Did you eat first?"

"I have." I answered him. I ate as much as I could.

"Good," Tristan nodded before reaching for my hand, "co and eat sothing with ."

"What?" I made a movent to pull my handbag, but he had already held on to it. "Tristan, let go. I don’t wish to eat anymor—" the words got stuck in my mouth when he pulled closer, and I bumped into him.

"I asked you to eat with , my love. Co with ." He said. His voice suddenly seems so smooth and soothing, like a gentle lull which hurt to whatever he wanted. My body fell instep beside him, and I started walking towards the palace entrance, even though I was not entirely convinced to do so.

How was this happening? I may not be entirely convinced, but I felt like I was convinced to so extent. What exactly was happening?

"What would you like to have?" He glanced at . "Perhaps sothing light?"

Had chiara told him about the soup that I had consud before coming downstairs? I thought she may have been telling him sothing far more important...

"I had soup already. The next al that I am going to have is going to be with Katherine who must have missed my presence for the entire week I was not awake."

Katharine would need . I had been absent for an entire week and she could only depend on Marilyn so much. Marilyn was my friend for a very long ti but she was no one to Catherine. She was not her sister, she was just sowhere who was near that position. So, my sister would not entirely trust her with everything.

In fact, I was sure that my little sister would have shared absolutely nothing with my friend unless she needed to.

"You bear a lot in your mind that you want to talk to be about, my love."

Did I? Going ahead, I confird it for him. "I do."

To be honest, I did not want to talk to Tristan about it. What I wanted was just a reason why he had decided that I was going to be fine laying on the bed for seven days because he decided that I was not to wake up yet.

It was not fair to . Sothing told that had his uncles not decided to intervene, he would have gone for a longer period of ti. That, honestly, scared more than it should.

It made think that I may not have thought of it thoroughly and I may have hurried into it.

Tristan was quite persuasive when he wanted to be, and sotis, I just did as he asked.

Just like right now, how we were moving towards the dining room even though I did not entirely want to. Tristan kept his pace human with and if he did not like being slow, he did not voice it out.

Just as we turned to move to another stairs to the floor above, I cast behind . Solomon and Bert were nowhere to be found. It was just Irene behind

.

My two companions never seem to be around whenever Tristan would be around. When did he dismiss them because he did not do that in front of ?

As we approached the doors of the dining hall, I closed my eyes briefly before opening them again. This might seem normal, like I had been doing this the entire day, but there was this impending sense of doom that sothing is going to happen. I did not know what, but I knew there was sothing waiting to happen.
