Before I said anything to his uncle, I turned towards Tristan. He had a displeased expression on his face.

So there was a possibility that they must have been talking about it. A possibility where Dominique was arguing to tell what was going on, and Tristan was arguing against it.

Since the king was not going to say anything, I turned towards his uncle to receive my answers. " why don’t you join us for.." I looked at the spread of food on the table. "Do I call this breakfast?" I asked Tristan, leaning towards him slightly.

"Whatever you wish to call it."

What a helpful reply he had given . Turning towards his uncle again, I repeated my offer. "Please, co and join us."

Dominique gave a dazzling smile as he started to move closer and occupied the seat right in front of . "I knew that you would see reason. After all, these are the plans for your kingdom and you must know what is going on."

I did not miss the pointed look he gave to Tristan. I was right with my assumption of this being discussed in between them and Tristan being against it.

"What have you thought of?"

He turned to . "Saving a kingdom with the resources of another does not co without any cost. I hope you know that."

"I do." I answered cautiously.

"And, so does your sister?"

"Yes, we both know that." That was the first lesson we had ever received. Never expect any kind of help to be free of cost. Everything that ca always had one kind of cost or the other attached towards it. If it did not, then it was not to be trusted.

Dominique nodded. "As you may know from the letter that you received from your sister that you exchanged without our knowledge and help were intercepted and the contents of it was changed to a great extent. The army your Sister has sent should be receiving information from the king of the north to turnaround."

"Even if it is happening right now, it is going to take at least a week for them to co back. Anything can happen in a week and the week that I am assuming is when they do not rest at all and charge towards their ho country at all costs."

Not resting at all for a week was going to tire them. The horses that they were using, and the donkeys for carrying in the weaponry and the items of food, would need rest, even if the humans did not. The humans could pull through, but the animals, how would they understand the loyalty towards their kingdom which was demanding them to stay on their feet and carry the weight double of the soldiers were carrying?

It was simply not possible.

They would fall, and we could not even afford to let go of one horse in the army, much less most of them.

"What do you have in mind?"

"Nothing too costly." He smiled. "You are getting the resources of the vampires and the country at your disposal, for as long as you want. The scholars that you were promised earlier with the proposal provided by Anastasia along with the resources that your kingdom will require post war, if anything does happen."

He was offering far too much and telling the cost was nothing. Of course, I choose not to believe his bed. If Estelle was sitting here, instead of , she would have called him out right away.

"Before I agree to anything, Dominic, I would like to know what the cost is." I told him. There was no way I could agree without knowing what he wanted in the end.

Estelle would kill if I did.

"The army of Astria is massive and we have recently established good relations with them. Imagine what would happen if we leave them to a word that has no proper significance to any of us." He sighed like it was the greatest worry of the world.

"They are still hesitant to participate in wars and daily defense practices with vampire soldiers. But at least we are getting sowhere now and that only happens on the basis of mutual trust. The trust that we are currently building Day by Day."

Yes, that was evident. There was no way the army with support any of them unless they had sothing to be received in return. Maybe they had more resources at their disposal as well. So kind of deal must be in between them now, but that was not of my concern.

Just as I was about to ask him, Dominique started talking again.

"They do know what we are capable of. They want to learn more, but they are hesitant. Obviously given the predicant we have put them on. But nonetheless, the Army is one of the first things to et by his side and we have their so-called fickle-minded trust."

He was stalling.

"Along with that—"

"Dominique," I cut him of right there, manners be damned, "why don’t you tell what you were talking about instead of telling things that I do have an idea about."

He silenced himself before shifting in his chair and and leveled my gaze with his own.

I was not soone who has taught how to be a queen like my sister. I was soone who has taught how to be by the side of the king, supporting him, and all his endeavors my remaining by his side.

So naturally, I understood that he was trying to take control of this conversation, and I was not allowing him to. The problem was how to do the next thing was sothing I did not know.

"Alright then," he nodded once to himself, "if you wish to know,"

"You have to give sothing back to the kingdom and we have decided what it is going to be. Before we march down to save your ho, you have to tie yourself forever to the house of your beloved."
