Li Yi stayed in the third-floor room of the Ghost Post Office for a full two days after completing the ssenger task. He checked several tis before he was certain that the big and the small ghost did not follow him. It seed that he had managed to elude the fierce ghost thanks to the special nature of the Ghost Post Office.
He finally let out a sigh of relief.
Despite the great dangers involved, it was all worth it because they had successfully made it to the third floor. Additionally, after completing the ssenger task, he wouldn’t need to deliver ssages for the next three months. If everything went smoothly, he could wait for the Cross-border Gate to open again.
"We can’t stay in the Ghost Post Office anymore, or we’ll starve to death here. We need to go out and find sothing to eat," Guo You couldn’t stay put any longer. He felt that being cooped up in the room any longer would be the death of him, even without a ghost killing him.
Li Yi and Liu Qingqing were sowhat special. The forr had control over his Qi-Blood, absorbed cosmic energy, and reduced bodily consumption. The latter was a Ghost Tar, her body influenced by supernatural powers, capable of surviving without food or drink. Both of them could stay in the Ghost Post Office for ten days or half a month without any problems.
"The ghost that was after us should be gone by now, so if you want to go out, you can check it out," said Li Yi.
"Li Yi, what about you? Aren’t you coming?" Guo You asked, hoping to have a companion to leave with to avoid any dangers on the road.
Li Yi thought for a mont and then asked, "Do you have money?"
Guo You was startled for a mont, then replied, "I have so savings, not much. Why do you ask?"
"I was thinking of borrowing so," Li Yi said.
"That’s no problem," Guo You agreed without hesitation, then asked with surprise, "But co to think of it, how could an expert like you be short of money?"
"Being skilled doesn’t feed you. I can’t go robbing people; I could get shot if caught. We should avoid doing illegal things. Plus, once you beco a ssenger, you no longer have ti and opportunity to make money. Isn’t that why Wang Chuan downstairs is broke now?" Li Yi remarked.
"That’s true," Guo You responded, finding the argunt logical, but after giving it more thought, he felt that sothing was off.
"Since you’ve decided to leave the Ghost Post Office, let’s go together. We don’t know when the next ssenger task will be, and it’s safer for the three of us to stick together. Even if that ghost is still waiting for us on the road, we’ll be able to escape without incidents," suggested Liu Qingqing at that mont.
"Makes sense," Li Yi nodded in agreent.
Seizing the daylight when the Ghost Post Office turned on the lights, the three of them made their way downstairs.
They were cautious, checking the lobby to make sure there were no ghosts before daring to push the door open and leave.
As the familiar winding path appeared, they followed it with the intention of leaving the Ghost Post Office. Li Yi kept an eye on their surroundings as they walked. Thankfully, the ghost that had chased them before was nowhere to be seen. Although he did not know where the Ghost Post Office had sent it, as long as it wasn’t by his side, it was good news.
Then sothing strange happened.
Although the three of them started off together, their distance from each other quickly grew. Soon after, Liu Qingqing disappeared without a trace, seemingly having left the place and returned sowhere in the real world.
Li Yi took a few more steps and experienced the sa thing.
He did not appear near the terrifying museum but found himself in a corner of Dazhuang City.
This was exactly where he had been the last ti he went to the Ghost Post Office.
"Under normal circumstances, I should have been sent outside the museum since that’s where I lit the signal paper... but why was I sent to the last place I went to the Ghost Post Office?" Li Yi found it odd, but he was too lazy to think about it for now.
Anyway, he didn’t have to send ssages starting from today, so he didn’t need to worry about much else.
Soon enough,
his phone chid with a ssage.
It was a transfer from Guo You, totaling twenty thousand yuan.
With the borrowed money, Li Yi didn’t have to worry about expenses for a while and could cover basic food and drink. However, living off savings wasn’t a long-term solution. He felt that he should find a way to earn so money, especially since he had so debts of gratitude to repay, and he might not have the chance if he left on another Cross Border task.
"I might as well continue to freeload," he murmured.
After wandering around in this unfamiliar city, he didn’t dare to barge into unknown places for fear of encountering ghosts. So after so thought, he decided to crash at Zheng Yaoyao’s rental again.
But when he reached the familiar balcony, he saw Zheng Yaoyao lying on the bed with her phone.
"Shouldn’t you be at work at this ti?" Li Yi put down his backpack and then sat down at his usual spot.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Zheng Yaoyao was instantly overjoyed. She put down her phone, hurriedly got off the bed, and exclaid, "Li Yi, you’re back? That’s great."
"I’m done with my business for now, so I have no place to go. I’ve co back to freeload off you for a while," Li Yi said.
"I wish I could be as carefree as you. I’ve been unemployed and unable to find a job; it’s driving crazy. If I don’t start working and earning money soon, I’ll starve to death in this rental," Zheng Yaoyao sighed and confided, "If I keep on like this without working, it won’t be long before I starve to death in this rental."
Li Yi replied, "Maybe you should go back to your hotown. Staying in big cities isn’t such a great option. I’ve been to many cities and almost every one of them has haunted places. It’s those small rural areas that have fewer supernatural events."
