The sun dipped lower over the Crossroad settlent, casting long golden beams across the cobbled streets. Market stalls packed up for the evening rush. Players laughed and traded loot fragnts, their voices mixing with the distant clang of blacksmith hamrs and the rhythmic thud of hamring down tent stakes.

Kieran walked with the group towards the main plaza, his steps quiet as he absorbed the evening glow. Arianna bounced beside him, clutching a small bag of candied nuts she had just bought. She held one out to him, eyes bright.

"Here, eat," she said. "You always look like you’re starving."

He blinked at her, then reached out, taking the small crystalised almond between his fingers. It crunched softly under his teeth, flooding his mouth with warm cinnamon sweetness. He swallowed, the taste grounding him back into the mont.

"Thanks," he said softly.

She bead at him, ponytail swishing as she skipped ahead to join Jack, who was busy teasing Erren about her healing output.

"Maybe if you didn’t heal so slowly, we’d have cleared ten minutes earlier," Jack said lazily, smirking as he folded his arms behind his head.

Erren rolled her eyes, snapping her grimoire shut with a loud clack. "Maybe if you didn’t tank with your face, I wouldn’t need to heal your ass every three seconds."

Jason chuckled under his breath, adjusting his dagger sheath across his back as he walked a few steps behind them. Elanor remained silent at the rear, golden eyes half-lidded, his calm unreadable.

They reached the main plaza just as a loud chi echoed through the air.

[SYSTEM ANNOUNCENT – LIVE EVENT BEGINNING IN 10 MINUTES]

The words pulsed in bright golden letters above every player’s interface, flickering in and out of reality like divine proclamations.

All around them, players froze. rchants stopped shouting prices. Quest-goers halted mid-conversation. Even NPCs paused in their idle animations, eyes flickering briefly with system light.

Arianna’s eyes widened. "A live event?! So soon after an update?!"

Jack’s smirk widened, black lightning crackling faintly across his fingertips. "Now this is what I’ve been waiting for."

Erren sighed, rubbing her temples. "I was planning to log off early today..."

Jason tilted his head, his dark eyes flickering with silent calculation. "System events are never random. They’re triggered."

Kieran felt his chest tighten as he read the glowing words. His pulse roared quietly in his ears. Adams...

He forced himself to focus as the crowd buzzed louder. Players murmured in excitent, panic, and confusion.

[SYSTEM: EVENT "DAWN OF THE FALLEN STAR" WILL BEGIN SHORTLY. PARTICIPATION IS AUTOMATIC. PLEASE PREPARE.]

Suddenly, the sky above them darkened. The golden evening glow faded into an eerie twilight, shadows lengthening across the plaza as if the sun had dipped below the horizon within seconds.

A low rumble vibrated through the ground, shaking the flagstones beneath their feet. Players staggered, shouts of alarm ringing out across the settlent.

Elanor stepped forward, golden eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed up at the sky. "It’s starting," he said simply.

Above them, a crack tore open across the heavens. A long, jagged rift of burning orange light split the dark sky, rippling outwards with pulses of crimson energy.

From within that crack, a star fell.

But it was no star.

As it broke through the atmosphere, its shape sharpened into sothing monstrous – an obsidian creature with vast bat-like wings, its entire body lined with glowing magma veins. Its eyes burned a molten gold, flickering with an ancient, primal rage.

[WORLD BOSS: FALLEN STAR DEMON – RANK: SOVEREIGN ]

The system notification flashed before every player’s eyes, followed by lines of text:

[Objective: Defeat the Fallen Star Demon before it destroys Crossroad settlent. Ti limit: 30 minutes. Rewards scale with damage contribution and final blow.]

Jack’s smirk curved wider, sparks flickering along his shoulders. "Finally... sothing fun."

Arianna clutched her staff tightly, her eyes wide but glittering with quiet excitent. "He’s... huge..."

Erren exhaled shakily. "That’s an understatent."

Jason spun his dagger once between his fingers, his expression calm but his dark eyes narrowing with focus. "We have thirty minutes."

Elanor stepped forward, rolling his neck with a quiet crack. "We kill it."

Players around them scrambled to form temporary raid parties, their interfaces flickering with invites and command requests. The plaza erupted into chaos as low-ranked parties ran for cover while guild elites gathered into formation with silent, disciplined precision.

Kieran felt his hands tighten around the handle of his sword. The air was thick with heat as the demon descended, massive wings beating once, sending hurricane-force winds across the settlent. rchants’ stalls were flung aside like paper, players thrown to the ground as the creature’s massive clawed feet slamd into the plaza, shattering stone and sending cracks spiderwebbing through the earth.

Its molten eyes scanned the crowd, a deep guttural growl rumbling through its chest. A wave of system heat washed over them, so intense it burned even in full dive.

"Formation," Jack barked, his smirk fading into cold command. "Elanor, front tank. Arianna, keep the barriers up. Erren, buffs on cooldown. Jason, shadow phases on its legs. Kieran..."

He paused, turning to look at him with narrowed eyes. "Stick close. Don’t die."

Kieran swallowed once, nodding.

"Let’s move," Jack said, spinning his sword in one hand as black lightning surged up his arm.

Elanor blurred forward, fists glowing with orange ki as he slamd into the demon’s ankle with a CRACK that echoed across the plaza. The demon roared, molten saliva spraying across the cobbles as it swung its tail down.

"Barrier: Diamond Aegis!" Arianna chanted, raising her staff as a cyan do flashed into existence around them just in ti.

BOOM!

The tail slamd into the barrier, cracking it instantly but holding back the lethal force. Erren’s grimoire glowed bright gold as she flicked her wrist.

"Blessing of Fury. Weakness Exposure. Armor Break!"

Jason vanished, reappearing in flickers of black mist along the demon’s leg, his dagger carving glowing lines across its joints before he phased away again.

Jack raised his free hand, sparks gathering into a blazing orb.

"Lightning Devourer."

He thrust his palm forward.

CRACK-KRA-KOOM!

Black lightning lanced across the plaza, slamming into the demon’s chest and forcing it back half a step. Damage numbers exploded above its massive health bar, but it barely dented it.

Kieran flickered forward, his Sovereign Edge blazing with ghostly violet light. He slashed across the demon’s ankle joint, feeling the impact reverberate up his arms. The creature roared, kicking out with molten claws.

He dodged back just in ti, the heat burning across his cheek.

"Focus!" Jack barked. "We’ve only got thirty minutes to drop this bastard!"

Arianna’s barrier flickered as she raised her staff again, sweat dripping down her temple. "Mana at sixty percent!"

"Keep it up," Erren muttered, her fingers dancing across her grimoire interface. "We’re not letting this thing destroy the settlent."

Elanor leapt up, slamming his fist into the demon’s knee with a BOOM that made the earth tremble. The demon staggered, molten eyes blazing as it raised its wings and unleashed a wave of searing fire across the plaza.

"DODGE!" Jack shouted.

Players scread as the fla washed over them. Dozens fell instantly, bodies disintegrating into glowing data fragnts as the demon’s health bar barely dipped under ninety percent.

And high above, far beyond the system skies, Adams watched from his darkened office, pale grey eyes glowing faintly with reflected code.

His lips curved into a small smile.

Finally... sothing worth watching.

Finally... the cure to his boredom.

And in the plaza below, as the Fallen Star Demon roared into the burning sky, Kieran raised his sword, violet eyes reflecting the raging inferno before him.

The true ga... had begun.
