Yu Xinman secretly breathed a sigh of relief and smiled: "You guys go in first; I have sothing to discuss with my sister. I'll join you later."

"Alright, go ahead." Zhou Lu didn't stop her this ti; her mind was a ss, and she needed to calm down.

Yu Zhi, already sowhat impatient, shot them a sidelong glance, brushed past their shoulders, and quickly walked out of the hall.

The small courtyard attached to the villa had been specially decorated by the servants, with tiny star-shaped night lights hanging from tree branches and along the fence.

The two sat face-to-face at a table by the swimming pool. Yu Zhi didn't speak imdiately, her gaze drifting toward the shimring waves in the pool.

Yu Xinman lowered her head slightly, her peripheral vision lingering on the drinks on the table; her eyes gradually darkened.

"What exactly is your relationship with Lu Li?" After much ntal preparation, she finally asked.

Yu Zhi arched an eyebrow and replied unhurriedly, "You called out here just for this?"

Last ti at the staircase, it was about Lu Li; even the forum scandal revolved around him. Yu Zhi couldn't help but suspect what Yu Xinman was scheming by obsessing over these incidents.

Yu Xinman picked up the wine glass and gently swirled it, her voice so soft it felt like she was talking to herself: "You should stay away from Lu Li."

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

"I like Lu Li." Yu Xinman t her gaze, as though staking a claim: "He's mine."

Yu Zhi almost burst out laughing at her declaration. Picking up a small pastry from the plate, she popped it into her mouth, chewed, and swallowed before dismissively saying, "What does that have to do with ?"

"Yu Zhi." For the first ti, Yu Xinman addressed her na directly, her expression unusually serious: "Lu Li is my future boyfriend, and even my husband."

"Shouldn't you keep your distance? Or is it that... you just enjoy stealing what's mine?"

Yu Zhi placed the half-eaten pastry back onto the plate, leaned back in her chair, and looked at Yu Xinman with a smirk: "What exactly do you have that's worth stealing?"

"Ha." Yu Xinman sneered: "Yu Zhi, without the Yu Family, who do you think you are?"

Without the Yu Family, she'd probably still be living in that rundown little house.

Before Yu Zhi could respond, Yu Xinman gave her a dismissive look: "Stop pretending to be so virtuous. Don't tell you don't covet the Yu Family's inheritance."

"You think I'm like you?" Yu Zhi's expression showed unconcealed disdain: "The Yu Family's inheritance doesn't matter to at all."

Such arrogance and brazen claims entered Yu Xinman's ears, filling her with a desire to tear apart Yu Zhi's elaborate facade.

Just as Yu Xinman was about to retaliate, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a figure slowly approaching, and her expression instantly changed.

Yu Xinman spoke with a trembling voice: "Sister, you know today is my birthday banquet; why would you... why would you do this to ?"

Her nose was slightly red, the tears clinging to her lashes shimring in the light, perfectly embodying the sentint of "pitiful beauty."

"Are you crazy?" Yu Zhi's irritation was evident. She was utterly fed up with this senseless lunatic.

If not for the drama awaiting tonight, she'd honestly consider punching her.

"Ugh... You just love this dress, don't you? Fine, fine; I'll go upstairs and take it off for you in a bit," Yu Xinman sobbed between gulps, trembling.

"What's going on?" A lodious male voice, like a stream from mountain springs, sounded behind Yu Zhi.

Lu Li had heard their conversation clearly. His gaze lingered on Yu Xinman's dress, with a hint of confusion.

"She's having another rabid fit," Yu Zhi nonchalantly tossed out.

"Rabid fit?"

"What else do you call snapping at everyone she sees?"

Lu Li: "..."

He coughed lightly, suppressed the laughter bubbling up, and sat down beside them without further inquiry.

"Are you two arguing?" Lu Li unscrewed the cap of a juice bottle on the table, poured a cup, and handed it to Yu Zhi.

Yu Zhi took a light sip and replied expressionlessly: "She's not worth it."

Yu Xinman, seeing Yu Zhi drink the juice, felt simultaneously gleeful and venomous, shooting her a hateful glare.

"Lu Li, don't misunderstand my sister... It's all my fault." Her hands nervously crumpled a napkin as she gazed tensely at him.

Lu Li let out a soft "hm," his voice far less gentle compared to when speaking to Yu Zhi: "I understand perfectly."

Yu Xinman bit her bottom lip tightly as his every expression sank deeply into her heart. Compared to anything anyone said or did to her, nothing surpassed the significance of Lu Li's fleeting gaze.

Yet even without asking what happened, he had unequivocally chosen Yu Zhi's side. How unjust was that to her?

Not wanting to dwell further, Yu Xinman fought back tears, shot Yu Zhi one last venomous look, and sprinted away without turning back.

With this little interlude done, the guests attending the birthday banquet had almost all arrived.

Yu Baisheng stepped into the center of the hall, raising his wine glass toward the crowd: "I'd like to first thank everyone for taking ti out of your busy schedules to attend my daughter's birthday banquet..."

After delivering a lengthy string of pleasantries, he finally arrived at tonight's main event.

Suddenly, the room's lights dimd greatly, leaving only two spotlight beams aid at the spiral staircase.

In the next instant, Yu Xinman erged slowly from the darkness, a standard smile on her face, her makeup clearly refreshed, leaving no trace of her earlier tears.

The crowd of guests politely clapped, with all eyes now falling on the delicate-looking young woman.

Imrsed in the feeling of being the center of attention, Yu Xinman held her head high, her back straight, stepping gracefully down the stairs.

"Her dress is stunning, isn't it?"

"It is. Really suits her complexion."

"That dress looks so familiar, though. I can't rember where I've seen it before."

" neither..."

"I got it! Isn't that last season's new design from U·M?"

"Really? That's unbelievable—only one produced per design, and she managed to snag it?"

"..."

These praises reached Yu Xinman's ears, filling her with unparalleled satisfaction.

Maintaining a calm and collected exterior, she smiled at them: "It's actually not so hard to get, just a matter of timing."

"You're really lucky! I've tried twice and failed."

"I managed to snag one once... but only once..."

"..."

Won's chatter was interminable. As their conversation grew increasingly animated, Yu Baisheng quickly called out: "Xinman, co over and introduce yourself to the uncles and aunts."

Only then did Yu Xinman regain awareness of the guests still watching her.

She gave them a slight bow: "Sorry, everyone—"

"That dress is fake." A male voice abruptly interrupted her, silencing the room.
