Ling Momo’s English was actually not bad; she could understand what the Arican girl was saying. However, she was bewildered by the girl’s baseless critical gaze and, for the mont, forgot to listen to what the girl was saying. By the ti she ca to her senses, the girl had already finished speaking and was looking down at her with her chin raised.
Seeing that Ling Momo was silent, the Arican girl laughed and turned away.
