"Pardon?"
Sigh!
Yman sighed upon hearing it for the second ti.
"Thanks to my luck."
He jokingly said while wearing a wry smile. No wonder the enemies keep on coming no matter how many he kills.
So it was about that excretion, huh.. He thought.
Yman decided not to hold back. Using the 1-ter fortified branch as a weapon, he sped up on killing the enemies.
The enemies were just low-tier beasts. With these levels of creatures, he could not gain much combat experience. At most 1% only, it also varied in the length of ti that he battled and the difficulty of his enemy.
So fighting in the Virtual Arena was better as he gained about 3-4% each match. Well, depending on his opponent. Whereas, in the Training Pavilion, he could gain 5-7% each stage.
Most of the ti, he would check his Combat Experience every ti he was relaxing.
He was tired of checking every ti as it only disheartened him whenever he checked it. Even Sistela did not bother notifying him about the increase in his Combat Experience.
The first ti he beca a trainee, he was so apprehensive about it.
But after his contract with the demon, his stats increased to an unimaginable degree; however, in exchange, the already slow growth he had, had beco more stagnant. It must be the exchange of gaining power in the wrong way. Even though he fought with tough opponents after coming to the empire, he didn't breakthrough quite well.
Regardless, as he could not waste more ti, he killed as many opponents as he could.
Betty and the others doubted the explosion they'd heard. One of them suggested going for a quick scan.
As no more monsters were attacking them, Betty and the other two nodded their heads.
"Just don't go too far. The Senior Leader will be coming back soon," said Betty.
"Watch out for the ambushes, Wis!" Said the other female mber of their group
"Okay!"
He then summoned the flying stick and rode it towards where the explosion originated.
Just after flying a few ters away, he already saw many dead bodies of the monsters below. He was surprised because it wasn't far from the abandoned building.
He also saw so weird-looking black creatures. They were devouring the dead bodies?! He was surprised to figure out what it was doing. Well, that's how he sees it.
He ignored it as it wasn't his reason for coming. He needed to figure out what was happening.
It didn't take him long enough to see a human figure, leaping high in the air, then fired so spherical objects down below. Successive explosions followed after he fired them.
"A summoner?" Wis mumbled to himself upon seeing the person summoned a bird type mount and rode away.
He could not identify the person at his current distance as the miasma was hindering his vision.
Below, he saw more dead bodies and so weird flying creatures devouring them. It was the sa scenario that happened at his rear. They soon sprinted towards the direction to where the figure of a person flew away.
Wis wondered if they were chasing to attack that person. In any case, it was as far as he could go.
Betty and the others questioned when he ca back. He answered with what he saw in which made them crease their brows.
It wasn't unexpected to find soone coming in this place, as most students would co here to gather herbs and insects. So even ca here to hunt beasts.
However, with the current situation, it was unexpected that soone was still brave to co here.
Not long, when Wis arrived, the Senior Leader with two others ca out from the rundown building.
But they noticed that each of them was wearing solemn faces.
"Sir, how's the gateway?" Betty imdiately rushed and asked.
A frown was distinct on the Senior Leader's face. "It's disastrous. We have to go back and issue a total lockdown on this mountain." The Senior Leader said forthwith.
Yman felt the demon was calling at him. He asked Sistela to pilot his body. He then dove into his dantian, his mana storage.
"Yo! What's up, Mr. Demon?"
"Hey, Kid!" the demon cried out, disregarding his greetings.
"....."
"I felt a strong demonic aura nearby! Not only that, but I also felt a strong connection to the Dark Continent!" The demon warned but also felt excited.
"What…" Yman was surprised at his imdiate words.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course, what do you think of ?!!!"
"A demon."
"....."
He doubted the demon's words as he could not perceive the presence of such an entity nearby.
"Higher-ranking demons are good at concealing their presence." The Demon of Position said after he noticed the doubt in Yman's face. "Aside from that, it's a chance to refill my mana, kid!"
'Right. The demon also said about a connection to the Dark Continent.'
"But, aren't there so many demons out there?"
"Of course, because that's the demon's territory."
"Then I can't go there…"
In Yman's mind, going there was like feeding himself to the beast. And it was the Dark Continent, the demon's den!
The demon squinted his eyes, seemingly understanding his worry. "HAHAHA!" the demon suddenly guffawed.
"I knew what you were thinking, that the Dark Continent was full of hideous-looking creatures."
The demon started telling him that the Dark Continent was different from what he initially thought. It was the sa as the human and demihuman's territory. Even the demon's appearance themselves wasn't far from humans and demihumans. Well, there were so exceptions. Especially the Demonic Beast, there were many of them there. But even in that place, they were the problem of most Civilized Demons.
They only called demons because of the place. But most residents there were exiled from the other continents.
Yman was surprised to hear it.
But for now, he needed to deliver the miasma sample to the professor.
