"The moral of the story is she may have presented as if, she has given two choices when in reality both of them were the sa." Liang Bao concluded.

"Exactly." Gu Jin nodded.

"But why? Why does she want you to stay away from the capital." Lu Siyao asked.

Gu Jin shook her head. Even she didn’t know the truth.

Earlier she felt that maybe because of Long Yifan, Gu Aihan was hostile to her. To confirm it she even said the line,

’You need to tell about my mistake before I can decide whether I should apologize or not.’

If Gu Aihan was truly angry with her for Long Yifan’s matter she would have said it.

However Gu Aihan didn’t.

This ant, Gu Aihan didn’t know about her(Gu Jin’s) love for Long Yifan at all.

Instead of making the situation simpler, this new revelation made the situation even more complicated.

Liang Bao recalled the conversation and suddenly said,

"Even before eting you, Gu Aihan was hostile to you."

"Did she know my na?" Gu Jin asked.

"No. It was after that we told so details about that she turned hostile." Liang Bao explained.

Gu Jin narrowed her eyes and asked,

"What details did you tell her?"

If Gu Aihan was hostile to her, even before eting her(Gu Jin), then there was only a possibility...she was trying to hide sothing.

"Uh...as far as I rember, I only told her that the portal appeared before you, you are an orphan and your surna is Gu." Lu Siyao answered.

Gu Jin analyzed her words.

Liang Bao added,

"Oh right. According to professors, the portal can only be opened in front of kids of top families. Then Gu Aihan started to call you an illegitimate child and eventually beca more hostile."

"The portal can only be opened in front of children from top families, and you told her..."

"No, the entire group. But only she and Nan Bei reacted so strongly." Lu Siyao explained.

"The entire group?" Gu Jin asked.

Liang Bao hurriedly told her everything that had happened during the ti she was trapped in the portal.

Gu Jin’s eyes narrowed,

"I am an orphan, so logically speaking the portal shouldn’t have opened in front of , even if soone manipulated the energy of the portal."

Jin Mu and Nan Roushi both of them looked as if they belonged to so wealthy family.

So it was clear that even though the energy of the portal was ssed with, it didn’t an it would drag any random people in.

"Only Gu Aihan and Nan Bei reacted strongly when they heard about my status as an orphan. She even went as far as claiming that I was an illegitimate child...

According to what you said, she went as far as attracting the beast, just so she can stop you all from opening the exit portal.

One thing is clear. She wants dead. There are only two possible reasons for this. First, maybe she originally had so grudge against .

Second maybe...maybe I have so relationship with the Gu family..."

The mont Gu Jin finished her words, she felt it was absurd.

How could she have any relationship with the Gu family of the capital?

Due to her interest in Long Yifan. she got to know everything about Gu Aihan and the Gu family.

The head of the Gu family is extrely loyal to Mrs. Gu.

He would never cheat on Mrs. Gu. So the chances of her being related to the main family of the Gu Family was almost null.

However...Gu Aihan’s reaction was too strange.

For a mont Gu Jin wasn’t able to reach any conclusion at all.

"Jin’er do you have any childhood possessions? Or do you have any information related to your childhood?" Liang Bao asked,

Gu Jin tried to recall the childhood of the host but recalled only faint mories.

99% of those mories consist of the host getting bullied.

Gu Jin shook her head.

"Then why don’t you visit the place where you have spent your entire childhood." Liang Bao suggested.

"Orphanage?" Gu Jin asked.

"Hm."

For a mont the atmosphere turned silent. Finally, Gu Jin shook her head,

"Maybe it is better if I don’t. The re proof that I was left in an orphanage, and had no wealthy family ever posted a report of a child being missing is enough to prove, that either I don’t belong to any wealthy family, or even if I did, they don’t care enough to look for ."

Gu Jin’s analysis was quite logical but...

Liang Bao disagreed,

"What if the wealthy family to whom you belong is trying to find you, but sothing is preventing them from doing so? Or perhaps they don’t even know you’re alive. There could be a myriad of reasons, Jin’er. Don’t dismiss the possibility so quickly."

Gu Jin sighed, leaning back on her pillow.

"It’s not that I don’t want to find out the truth, but it’s been so long. If they really cared, wouldn’t they have found by now?"

Liang Bao shook her head gently.

"You’d be surprised at how many things can go wrong in such situations. People go missing for years, only to be found later under circumstances no one could have predicted."

Lu Siyao added,

"I think it’s worth investigating. Even if you don’t find anything significant, at least you’ll have closure. And who knows, you might uncover sothing important."

Gu Jin chuckled in her heart.

In reality, even if the original host had any family Gu Jin might not necessarily acknowledge them. The reason was pretty simple.

In Gu Jin’s heart, only her parents from her previous life were important.

Even if the original host’s parents do find her and love her with all their might, she might never call them mom and dad.

Her heart has very little space.

She can’t accommodate many people.

However to not break the hearts of her friend, she put on a smile and said,

"You’re both right. I shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the possibility. Maybe there’s sothing at the orphanage that could give a clue about my past."

Liang Bao nodded, relieved that Gu Jin was considering it.

"We can go with you, Jin’er. You don’t have to do this alone."

"No need, I can..." Before Gu Jin could complete her sentence, Liang Bao shook her head,

"No. We will go with you."

She can see that Gu Jin wasn’t much interested in finding out her origins.

However, Liang Bao saw sothing that bothered her. Gu Aihan’s emotions.

They were too strange.

Today Gu Aihan didn’t show her emotions at all and only looked as if she wanted to seek justice for herself.

However, on their first confrontation, Liang Bao spent most of the ti observing Gu Aihan, hence she saw Gu Aihan micro expression too.

Initially, Gu Aihan was disinterested and only wanted to build her good image. But later, her expression changed and she started to panic the more she heard of Gu Jin’s description.

Liang Bao’s instinct told her that whatever Gu Aihan was trying to hide, was sothing very important and should be known by Gu Jin.

Hence she was so hellbent on Gu Jin knowing the truth.

"Fine," Gu Jin finally agreed. "We’ll visit the orphanage together. But don’t expect too much. I’m not getting my hopes up."

Liang Bao and Lu Siyao exchanged relieved glances. It wasn’t just about uncovering Gu Jin’s past; it was also about ensuring her safety.

Just then the door of the hospital room opened and a doctor, along with a few nurses walked inside.

The expression on their face wasn’t good.

"Remove her drip and aks them to pay the dical bills as soon as possible." The doctor said to the nurse, without even looking at Gu Jin and her group.

"Huh? Doctor? What are you saying? Jin’er is still not fine!" Lu Siyao agrued.

The doctor rolled his eyes,

"If she had acted as a decent person, then she would have never ended up in the bed anyway."

He turned to the nurse and said,

"What are you waiting for? Kick her out!"

"Are you doing this because of that Miss nad Gu Aihan?" Lu Siyao asked.

"That’s none of your business," the doctor snapped.

"This hospital has the right to refuse service to anyone, and right now, we’re choosing to exercise that right. You can pay your bills and leave."

Liang Bao’s heart sank. It was clear that Gu Aihan had already begun to exert her influence, even here. The situation was more dangerous than she’d anticipated.

"We will pay the bills, but you should know that this kind of treatnt will not go unnoticed. There are laws that protect patients from being thrown out in such a manner, especially when they are still in need of care."

The doctor hesitated, glancing at the nurses, who were now looking uneasy.

It was one thing to bully a patient under orders, but another to face legal repercussions.
