"What is spatial rift?" Gu Jin asked curiously.

The teachers in Magic Academy do give aweso theory lectures. However, so of the advanced-level topics are not explained to them, since they haven’t reached the advanced rank magic.

(Author: Note! Advanced Rank is cultivation level. All the magic level that is above Interdiate Rank is considered as Advance Rank Magic.)

Gu Jin guessed that maybe, the spatial rift was connected to so advance rank magic.

She was half correct because Zhang Wei explained.

"If 2 or more space mages reach Super or Emperor Level and cast a Super Space Spell at the sa ti, then a spatial rift may be opened.

A spatial rift is a tear in the surrounding environnt’s space. Once it occurs, it can teleport, harm, or cause a person to be struck into space forever.

Or the worst case, it might even leave you in so other dinsion.

The chance of occurrence of the spatial rift is very rare like 0.0001% but it still can exist!"

Gu Jin nodded.

"Alright, all 6 of us will stay near each other. Also, if you can’t hold on, ask for help from your neighboring person. If possible look out for your neighboring person. Am I clear?"

When everyone nodded, Zhang Wei led the team to the line. When it was their turn, Zhang Wei registered the color of their team and reported the number of people in the group.

He also handed the storage rings of all the team mbers to the counter.

Gu Jin didn’t hesitate in handing over the storage ring since all of the treasure she had collected till now was in space.

However in order to not look too relaxed, she asked Zhang Wei,

"How will we carry our artifacts and pills?"

Then she lowered her voice and asked,

"Will my storage ring be safe?"

The person on the counter heard Gu Jin and chuckled in his heart. Does this young man think they will steal his belongings? How petty!

But at the sa, he was assured that Gu Jin didn’t have any other storage space.

Zhang Wei almost laughed when he heard Gu Jin’s words, for a minute he seed to see his younger self in her.

"Your storage space will be safe, and to carry the artifacts and pills, you will be given a temporary storage ring."

A temporary storage ring only has a small space. One that could only hold a few artifacts and pills. They are very cheap. One can easily buy a temporary storage ring for 2000 yuan.

Gu Jin nodded. She knew about the temporary storage ring.

The person on the counter snorted and asked Zhang Wei,

"You have an interdiate-rank mage in your team?"

The tone was filled with disdain, it was as if Zhang Wei was doing sothing illegal.

Even small rcenary groups have certain criteria.

The most basic criterion was to have all mbers at advanced rank. It wasn’t like small rcenary groups didn’t take people below advanced rank, but they only took those mbers as either substitutes or extra mbers.

A substitute or extra mber fights alongside them but they don’t have a share in the reward at all.

At first, Zhang Wei had indeed taken Gu Jin as their substitute mber but along the way, Gu Jin’s strategy and sharp response to certain situations impressed him. Hence he registered Gu Jin as the 6th mber.

"Yes." Zhang Wei said with confidence.

The counter person snorted and said,

"Fine. But his breaks will be less than yours. Since he is an interdiate-rank mage, he would most likely not be as powerful as an advanced-rank mage.

So he has to take fewer breaks to compensate."

It was more order than instruction. It was so infuriating that the faces of Shadow Fang’s mbers fell.

Gu Jin didn’t comnt on the counter person.

She wasn’t discouraged by his comnts.

As a wise person has once said. A person can only asure your capability, till his capability.

If he is not more capable than you, and try to grade you, you will always rank in the least talented person category.

The counter person was the sa.

"I will lend my break to him then. You don’t need to worry." Zhang Wei said in a slightly cold voice.

The counter person rolled his eyes and continued with the work muttering in a voice that could be heard by the mber of Zhang Wei’s,

"Hmph! Let’s see. Small rcenary groups like you don’t even last 5 hours. When you run out of your mana and at your wit’s end, we will see, whether you still be willing to lend your breaks to soone else."

After exchanging the storage rings, Gu Jin along with her team mbers exited the safe zone.

Once outside, Gu Jin felt great pressure on her body.

She saw various people fighting with so Catalope and Mutated red-eyed deers.

Even if they have the reporting ti, the sa can’t be said for the beast. They would anyti they want to.

Zhang Wei led them to the side where the manforce was lacking and started helping out the soldiers who were on the verge of collapsing.

The soldiers nodded at Zhang Wei and retreated.

Gu Jin raised an eyebrow, and before she could ask any question Zhang Wei said,

"We are hired here to help the soldiers. These soldiers have been fighting since night, and need rest, otherwise the Undercity Division would collapse.

To relieve the burden the governnt allots extra money every ti which is used by the General to hire small and top rcenaries to help out."

Gu Jin nodded and focused on the fighting the Catalopes.

She also saw so red-eyed deers who weren’t mutated. As she fought, Gu Jin couldn’t help but frown.

The hostility in mutated red-eyed deers is much more evident than in red-eyed deers.

Hostile? Why were these beasts attacking the undercity in the first place?

Gu Jin’s mind was filled with questions. As she fought, she didn’t forget to mark those beasts with blue marks.

Gu Jin had already fought with so of the beasts before, however, during those tis, either her team mbers helped out or they covered for her or they fought as a team.

Now though, everyone was busy fighting and didn’t have much ti to look out for the other person.

Gu Jin shifted her gaze to one of the Catalopes which was going to sneak attack Yi Ran and used her plant vine to catch it.

Yi Ran only heard a ’whoosh’ and saw a green vine holding a Catalope as if it were a chicken. Her mouth twitched and she mouthed the word ’thank you’ to Gu Jin before focusing on the beast coming from the front.

For the next two hours, the team fought without talking.

Gu Jin was the most happy one. She was able to gain practical experience and after 3 days of struggling with the beast, she was able to fight them on her own.

Her combat power increased significantly. Even her control of plant elents seem to have reach at another level.

It was as if she was able to understand what she didn’t understand in the past.

She always thought that only spells that were made could be used to fight the beast. But as she fought the beast, she realized that their way of using magic was much different than hers.

It was as if they didn’t know what magic was and they were only trying their best to bend it according to their situation.

This made Gu Jin question. If humans learn magic from a spell book, how does the beast learn magic?

They surely won’t have a magic spell book, right?

So that could only an that the beast uses magic as per the situation. Normally magical beasts are very hard to deal with. Even though they lack intelligence they are able to give a tough fight to any mage.

This could only an that their magic is far stronger than a mage’s.

For example the mutated red-eyed deer. She always thought that they only had the power to srize or create illusions.

But now after eting so of the variety, she realized, she was the one who wasn’t knowledgeable enough.

Because now she saw so of the mutated red-eyed deers creating a psychic barrier. It was sothing that even Yi Ran couldn’t do.

So Gu Jin while fighting with Catalopes, tried to shape her plant elent’s energy as a box.

Result?

She utterly failed. Gu Jin almost vomited blood from the backlash.

Zhang Wei and Yi Ran who were near Gu Jin noticed that she was about to stumble and so of the beasts would soon attack her, they hurried near.

Zhang Wei covered for Gu Jin while Yi Ran hurriedly inserted her healing energy into Gu Jin.

Gu Jin who was feeling dizzy felt a bit better once Yi Ran used her healing elent on her.

She nodded at Yi Ran and stood up.
