Chapter-74

"What are you doing here, princess?"

Nothing was wrong with this question. It was a normal question that anyone would ask if they found her sitting in the middle of the terrace, drenched in the rain like she was.

It was the voice that shocked her.

How was that possible? Was he really here?

Elliana kept looking at the silhouette in pure surprise.

"By now, you should have answered the question, princess. Or do you not want to talk to ? Are you still angry about what happened?" His smile, his words, his long strides, his confidence, his smugness, everything was telling Elliana this was real, but she didn’t want to believe it.

How can it be real? There is no way he would co here. It was the vampire kingdom and the palace of the youngest prince they were talking about. It wasn’t so random forest where he could co and go -

Unless he is a witch too, Elliana had always given the benefit of the doubt to this theory in her mind. The way he always appeared and disappeared in the past and how he appeared that day near the forest and vanished as soon as Alcinder arrived. It was just like how Yaretzi described them.

They can co and go without leaving a hint of their presence. Maybe that was the reason why no one could sense him on her even when he almost hugged her.

She didn’t answer. Elliana didn’t want to. So rather than facing him and feeling her resolution about not talking to him break just like that, she turned around and faced the forest instead.

She hadn’t noticed it earlier, but as night was nearing, the forest looked strangely dangerous. Was it because of the lurking vampire guards that must’ve spread and climbed so trees to keep a better lookout for intruders and other species? It was hard to decipher.

"Why are you so angry at ? I told you I would be here whenever you rember , hadn’t I?" He walked closer to Elliana, and she huffed.

It looked like her silence wasn’t going to work this ti. She will have to speak.

"If that was the case, I didn’t call you right now either. What are you doing here? Aren’t you afraid that the prince will co and see you here and your life will be in danger?" Elliana turned to her side, and Nath smiled.

"At least you are talking to , even if it’s to threaten ," Nath appeared right in front of her, making her gasp slightly as she looked into his captivating eyes.

"And regarding why I ca here? I ca because I missed my old friend and because I can see people are starting to notice her, which calls for my protection," Nath’s words confused Elliana.

"What do you an people are starting to notice ?"

"I an this," Nath grabbed Elliana’s hand, and as soon as he did that, it was as if the glow in her hands was activated or t its creator.

Elliana looked at the glow in her hands in pure amazent.

"What is this?"

"These are your powers. I know that the witch Yaretzi has taken it upon herself to train you. So complete your basic training with her, and then I’ll train you, okay?" Nath cupped her cheeks, and Elliana found herself nodding.

"My princess, you have no idea how much I yearned to co to you and play with you, but I was busy making myself worthy of you. I never abandoned you or our bond and friendship. I had to train harder and collect all the information to beco worthy of being called your protector," Nath looked into her eyes with such intensity that she found herself nodding.

"So you are a witch too?" Elliana finally addressed the elephant in the room, and Nath pressed his lips into a thin line.

"I am. And if you are hungry, I can bring the pizza too," Nath’s words brought a smile to Elliana’s face.

"But I want hot chocolate," Elliana said, and Nath chuckled at her before nodding.

"Nath, can I ask you sothing?" Elliana said, her smile faltering.

"Am I really not normal?"

Nath looked at the girl, who looked vulnerable and reeked of loneliness, and stepped ahead before pulling her in for a hug. He pressed her face close to his chest, sothing that he had been intending to do ever since he saw her grow up.

"You are right. You are not normal. But do you really want to be normal when you can be so much more?" Nath asked, and Elliana humd, her voice vibrating through his chest, making him tighten his hold on her.

"I know you led a harsh life, and everyone did everything in their power to throw you out of their lives, but enough now. You don’t need to fight anyone. From now onwards, I swear on my powers and life that I’ll protect you the best I can," Nath said, and Elliana looked up, her body still pressed close to Nath.

"Why do you want to do so much for ?" Elliana searched his eyes.

Seeing the girl he has always adored looking at him with such an expression and pressed close to his body, Nath’s heart skipped a beat. This wasn’t what he wanted from her. These forbidden emotions were clouding his mind again, but he needed to remind himself that Elliana was married now.

She was soone’s wife. She was the accidental Bride that wasn’t supposed to be. Even if nothing was planned and they hadn’t expected this to happen, because of the mistake of so witches, it happened. And now there was nothing they could do to revert it until the Prince left her himself.

"Because I love you. I always have and will always do," Nath’s unadulterated confession made Elliana raise her brows, and she placed her hand between them before pushing him away.

She hugged him because she considered him a friend. However, if he harbors any other feelings, it would be wrong. It would be like betraying her Prince even when she doesn’t want that.

"At least hear out, will you? You are my most precious friend. The first friend that I wasn’t to cherish with my life. If it’s not love, then what is? Does all love need to be romantically involved? You are an educated girl, Elliana. Don’t you know the aning of platonic love?" Nath asked, and Elliana stopped struggling in his arms.

He bent slightly and looked into her eyes before smiling.

"Or do you want it to be sothing else?" Nath asked, enjoying the embarrassnt and shyness in Elliana’s eyes.

"I... I..."

"We will et soon, Princess," Nath said, and she wanted to ask him for his number when he vanished into thin air, and Elliana was left hugging nothing.

She sighed and sat back in her chair at the sa ti when she heard soone’s shoes clicking on the stairs.

What should she do? What if it’s the prince who is here to check up on her? What excuse will she give to explain what the hell she was doing in the rain? Elliana panicked, and she could only think of one thing.

She quickly lay on the wet floor, pretending to be unconscious.

The noise stopped, and her heart picked its pace in anticipation.

"I would have given you ten out of ten for your la excuse of being unconscious, but you can’t act to save your life, Princess," She heard Mr. Marino’s voice, and before she could open her eyes, she felt his hand going under her thighs, a shiver running down her spine at the warmth and shark contrast of the cold she was feeling.

"You are such a naughty girl, Princess. I didn’t know you had it in you," Sebastian looked at the girl, who pried open her eyes slowly, a hesitant, awkward smile on her face.

"You were acting just so you could save your cute little ass from getting a scolding because you were in the rain again, right?" Sebastian’s words made Elliana’s cheeks turn red, and she humd, feeling more embarrassed that she was caught in the act.

"You can close your eyes and pretend to be unconscious, but what about your heart? Won’t it give away if it’s beating too fast?" Sebastian mused, his gaze falling to her luscious wet lips, and he gulped.

"Today, I am going to punish you for trying to trick , and there’s nothing you can do about it," Sebastian’s gaze raked down to her body, where her dress was clutched to her body.

He wanted to stay respectful to her and avert his gaze from her alluring body that was called onto him and her luscious lips that were just waiting to be bitten by him, but he was a man too.

Despite his hatred, whenever he is close to her, this attraction that he feels towards her can’t be denied, and that’s why he wanted to enact it Today.

It will bring them closer, and she will trust him more, right? Or that’s what he was telling himself before he planted his lips on her over the mask, making Elliana widen her eyes.

This was just the beginning of what he had in mind for her.
