"Don’t lie to , Artemis. Don’t say that you don’t feel it," the girl walked to him, and he barely raised his brows at her.
"What exactly do you want to feel, Hera? Should I feel you? But for that, you will have to co close to and let inside you so that -"
"This is not sothing to joke about, Artemis. I am being serious this ti," Hera thinned her lips and looked at the sea thoughtfully.
"That vampire ship, don’t you feel like sothing is weird there? I don’t know why but I have been feeling like this ever since that ship entered our area. It’s like there is soone who is one of us, or a part of us," Hera explained, and Artemis rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, and that’s why like a stupid girl, you went near the ship, risking not only yours but the entire Coral clan’s lives," Artemis asked, and Hera looked away.
"In my defense, no one was believing my words. I was telling you guys that I feel it. There is an energy on that ship that is calling out to . You know my senses are the strongest, don’t you?" Hera looked at him, wanting an affirmation.
He sighed and closed his book.
"Look, Hera. I believe you. Maybe you indeed felt sothing, but what about the rest of us? We didn’t feel anything at all. And logically speaking, do you really think there would be a Siren on that vampire ship? Who wants to invite death like that when our species is already declining?" Artemis made a point, and Hera knew she didn’t have anything to say to that.
He was right in a way. Everything he said was right, even if it hurt to understand, but she indeed put her and everyone’s life in danger.
That day this feeling that soone from their species was present on that ship was so intense and overbearing that she didn’t even think of the consequences and went near it. And not only that, she even sang a song to attract whoever it was.
If Artemis hadn’t arrived there in ti, the royal vampire would’ve seen her, and he wouldn’t have thought twice before jumping in the water to kill her.
She was being too impulsive at that ti.
But even after she saw the prince, she was ready to risk it because she felt like whoever that person was, they were coming closer to her.
She could feel the connection and -
"Snap out of it, will you? Rather than thinking about who was on that ship, can you concentrate on what Cleopatra told us? There are still chances that our queen’s energies are alive in the world, and we need to find a way to how they are," Artemis snapped.
"Don’t you find it weird, Artemis?"
"What?" Artemis looked at her with narrowed brows, unsure what she was talking about now.
"Why would the queen of sirens give her energies to soone else? Why didn’t she entrust her powers to any siren? There were so many people that she could’ve chosen. Anyone in the ten grade tier could’ve easily beco her successor, then why?" Hera moved her fingers in the water circularly, smiling at the small tornado forming.
"We never know what these royals are all about, Hera. People like you and I, despite our powers and status, can never match what these royals have, royal blood. And in a way I am happy. The royal seat cos with a trail of dread bodies on your foot," Artemis sighed before standing from his place.
"Don’t we all know how many tis the queen was attacked in her kingdom mysteriously? Mysterious is just a way to cover it up. Everyone knew it was the sirens of our kingdom who used to conspire against her. I don’t see why she shouldn’t have trusted other species. It was because her own species never gave her that kind of trust," Artemis said, and Hera humd.
"Enough talking now. Let’s go back to our work. If Cleopatra found out we have been slacking again, she will starve us once more. It’s been so long since I tasted fresh human blood," Artemis groaned, and Hera looked at him with a sheepish smile.
"Will you be mad if I say I stole so food from the island?" Hera looked at him innocently, and Artemis groaned.
"Hera! You naughty woman! How many tis do I have to tell you to stop doing that? You are not a child. Till when will I keep protecting you? How did you steal the food? I hope you didn’t leave any traces," Artemis said, and Hera looked down at her feet.
"Will you be more angry if I say a vampire saw ?" Hera asked, and Artemis’s expression imdiately changed.
"-but she was mute," Hera quickly added, and Artemis raised his hand before slapping her head childishly.
"Grow up. We are going to get married soon. If you still behave like this, then I am going to love you so hard that you don’t move for weeks," Artemis threatened with a straight face and Hera blushed and stepped back from him.
She smiled, flustered, backing further into the sea with a sheepish smile.
"And what if I say I don’t mind-"
"Hera!" Artemis scread in horror as he saw Hera’s eyes going wide before she was caught up in the sudden storm brewing in the sea.
"Artemis!" Hera scread, extending her hand for him to save her.
Fear was visible in her eyes. This sea was their ho and water was their strength, but it was also true that this water could beco their biggest enemy.
"What the hell are witches doing, playing with the water like this? Have they lost their mind?!" Artemis shouted as he neared Hera, despite the intensity of water that was pushing him back.
No. No. No. There is no way he will let her drift away like this.
Why was all this happening in the first place? The witches never ddled with the seas they are present in, then why? Artemis looked at Hera with pity, who was circling in the water uncontrollably.
"Artemis, please save , honey!" Hera cried, her insides feeling like they would be churned as she was taken to the middle of the sea.
Wait. It was the sa vampire’s ship. If she drifts off there, she won’t survive their lust and hunger even if she survived this storm.
"No! Artemis! Please, save -"
Thump! Her heart ached with the sa indescribable sorrow. Her visions blurred and her senses heightened.
The sa feeling. It was the sa feeling she got that day.
Whoever this person was, they were in the sea.
Hera widened her eyes and looked around the strong swirling water, her gaze finally falling on two silhouettes at so distance.
It was hard to decipher if they were male or female, but one thing was for sure, one of them do have sothing that was related to sirens.
