"Grandma, when you’re better, I’ll take you back to the countryside."
Eleanor Hollis held her hand and said gently.
Bridget Sutton nodded, she wasn’t used to city life; it might be better to return to the countryside early.
But man proposes, and God disposes.
After breakfast, Bridget Sutton’s body was found to have various issues. It seems once soone gets old, any kind of poisoning leads to multiple complications appearing at once. In no ti, she had lost a lot of weight.
Eleanor felt heartbroken but was helpless, only able to make people cooperate with the doctors for treatnt.
She ended up staying in the hospital for a whole month.
During that ti, Old Master Dawson had already woken up, but he had the sa problem as Bridget Sutton; at his age, he couldn’t stand any fuss.
Old Master Dawson was no fool; he knew sothing was off about that day’s events. He imdiately contacted his people to capture the butler from the Dawson Family, but upon entering the Dawson ho, they found the butler had long since fled, taking several antiques with him.
"Eleanor, I really have to thank you this ti."
Old Master coughed, his mouth curling up, his whole deanor softening.
He had never experienced familial affection before and never expected his not-so-close granddaughter would be the one to save him.
"Old Master Dawson, there’s no need to be so polite."
Eleanor felt a bit awkward too. Though they were family, they had beco distant having not seen each other for years.
What’s more, it was Old Master who abandoned her back then. If it were not for her grandmother, she would have died.
Old Master Dawson was discharged in the afternoon, and before leaving, he gave Marcus a toy, a limited edition Transforr.
Marcus’s father was Hugo Quinn, who could have any kind of gift, but this was a token from an elderly man.
In the evening, a nurse ca into Bridget Sutton’s ward and called Hugo Quinn out.
Bridget vaguely overheard them discussing a woman nad Sienna Jenkins. As far as she knew, no one among Hugo’s relatives was called Sienna Jenkins. Could she be a friend? But even for a friend, Hugo’s concern had exceeded that boundary.
Bridget glanced at her granddaughter, who was quietly peeling fruit for her, as though she cared not what was happening.
After Hugo left, Bridget hesitated, wanting to ask about Sienna Jenkins, yet worried it might hurt her granddaughter.
In the end, she held back.
Hugo returned soon after, taking Eleanor out with him. They chatted and laughed together, not seeming like a couple with broken feelings.
Bridget breathed a sigh of relief, maybe she was overthinking.
She closed her eyes, planning to rest, when the door to her room opened again.
It was a girl who looked quite innocent, at least in her view.
"Who are you looking for?"
She propped herself up and asked laboriously.
Sienna’s eyes darted over Bridget’s body, flashing a hint of a smile.
"Are you Hugo Quinn’s grandmother? I specifically ca to see you. I am Sienna Jenkins."
So this was the woman Hugo was concerned about, much younger than Bridget had imagined.
Sienna made herself comfortable, sitting by the bedside.
But Bridget felt uneasy. What exactly was the relationship between this person and Hugo?
"I’ll call you Grandma too, okay? Grandma, how is your illness?"
Sienna spoke softly, her voice had a gentle and soothing quality.
But inexplicably, Bridget didn’t like her.
"You and Hugo...what’s your relationship?"
Sienna’s eyes montarily glistened, she glanced down at her belly, her mouth curled up.
"Grandma, Miss Hollis never told you? She can’t have children, and now I’m carrying Hugo’s child."
The words "Hugo’s child" struck Bridget like lightning.
"What...what did you say?"
Her face turned exceptionally pale, her trembling finger pointing at Sienna.
Sienna covered her mouth, a bit apologetic.
"I’m sorry, it seems you didn’t know about Miss Hollis’s infertility. I inadvertently let it slip. Grandma, please don’t tell Miss Hollis. She’s keeping this secret because she doesn’t want to worry you."
Bridget’s breathing suddenly beca labored; the elderly cannot bear shock, and Sienna’s words were like stabbing her heart.
"Luna...foolish..."
Bridget collapsed onto the bed, convulsing all over.
Sienna quickly opened the door, calling the doctor over.
At this ti, just when Hugo and Eleanor returned from dinner, they found out her grandmother had been taken to the ergency room.
Both were startled; they had left for just a while, and now their grandmother was in trouble.
"How could you leave? There should have been soone here. If I hadn’t found out early, Grandma might not have had a chance for rescue."
Sienna reproached from the side, anxiously looking at the ergency room, hands clenched into fists, as if genuinely concerned for Bridget’s condition.
The news of Bridget being taken to the ergency room quickly reached Eleanor’s ears, and she dropped everything to rush over.
"Miss Hollis."
Sienna stood in the hallway, and upon seeing her, finally let out a breath of relief.
"She’s still in surgery, we don’t know if your grandmother will pull through."
Eleanor felt a trace of doubt; what was this person doing outside the room, instead of staying inside? Moreover, why on the floor where her grandmother was staying?
Sienna seed to sense her suspicion and quickly explained.
"Soone sent breakfast to my room this morning, saying it ca from a room downstairs. I thought it was from a friend, so I ca to express my thanks. I didn’t expect to see the old lady fall ill when no one was around to watch, not even a nurse, so I helped call for soone."
This reason indeed made sense because when Hugo ordered breakfast for her grandmother, he had another sent to Sienna.
Sienna had already prepared her rationale, emboldened to upset Bridget earlier.
"Thank you."
Eleanor said these two words flatly and slowly closed her eyes.
With Gloria just gone, her grandmother must not get into trouble; the ones she cares about cannot leave like this.
"Miss Hollis, please have a seat, don’t be too sad, Grandma will be fine."
Sienna supported her to sit in a chair nearby.
Eleanor pursed her lips, eyes fixed intently on the lit ergency room.
Sienna secretly smiled; with this, she and Eleanor’s relationship had gotten closer.
Before this, Eleanor wasn’t warm towards her. She knew that if it were another woman in her position, they wouldn’t like her either.
But this ti, having saved the elderly woman, Eleanor would be grateful to her.
The rescue for the elderly took a long ti. When she was finally wheeled out, she was still unconscious.
The doctor removed his mask and nodded slightly, "Miss Hollis, the elderly lady’s health is very poor, she should really rest more in the future. Even if she wakes up, she’ll be very weak, so avoid stimulating conversations and let her have her way often."
