Simon truly seems to be adhering to the agreent with Erwin, if the demon on the opposite side doesn’t make a move, then he won’t act either.

The demon on the opposite side also couldn’t be seen.

In that case, it might as well be treated as a situation without high-ranking forces involved. Standing in Erwin’s shoes now, it seems this is all he can do.

"Are you threatening ?" Sean widened his eyes.

"I’m rely stating the pros and cons to help you see the current situation clearly," Erwin replied softly. "If you need ti to consider, I can give you ti. But I’m afraid you don’t have much ti left."

Sean’s mouth trembled slightly, several tis wanting to say sothing, yet unable to utter it. Sweat on his forehead stread down into his eyes. He wiped it off, then continued to stare at Erwin.

Both sides remained in a stalemate.

"You’re just a prisoner, yet you dare to negotiate with ?"

"But I have the White Bone Holy Light Court backing , four hundred liches over ten thousand years old, and Giant Snake City. Behind you, there’s nothing. Even if my hand can’t hold a weapon, I am still the captain of the Silver Moon Knight Fifth Squad."

Walking to the window, Sean stretched his neck out to take a look outside.

At that mont, Purgatory Demon Alphonse was watching him, yet he completely failed to notice.

Gritting his teeth, Sean turned back and said to Erwin, "What do you need to do? First, let declare, without armor, it’s entirely impossible for to defeat Dovna. Even with armor, I might not be able to. I’m unclear on what kind of power the demon has given her."

"Help escape, leave here," Erwin slightly relaxed, saying, "Get to White City. Once we reach White City, we’ve won half the battle."

"That’s impossible. From here to White City is too far, we’ll easily be caught by her."

"Matthew and George couldn’t catch you, could they? The Demon Envoy isn’t omnipotent."

"This..." Sean couldn’t think of a way to refute Erwin for the mont.

Pausing slightly, Erwin continued, "Don’t hesitate, you don’t have much ti to hesitate. From the mont you stepped into this prison cell, your chance to turn back was gone."

After a long silence, Sean gritted his teeth, nodding heavily.

...

"Open the castle gate, quick!"

At midnight, Sean rode his horse, hastily arriving at the castle gate with his trusted n. A carriage still followed behind.

"Yes!"

The two soldiers guarding the gate hurriedly ran down from the wall, starting to exert themselves turning the gears locking the castle gate.

Amidst rumbling noises, the massive gate lowered.

Sean led Miller, his trusted subordinates, and the carriage rushing out of the castle gate.

Inside the violently shaking carriage, the severely injured Erwin sat slanted, with another disheveled person whose face couldn’t be seen clearly sitting beside him.

This was undeniably the "Brother Next Door."

"I... I asked you to rescue , but not like this! The Demon Envoy will catch up soon, we’ll die halfway!"

"If you don’t wish to leave, you can open the door now and walk back yourself. I can imdiately stop the carriage."

Saying this, Erwin raised his hand to tap on the front wooden panel of the carriage.

"Don’t!" the frightened prison guard brother almost scread.

"Sir, is there sothing wrong?" ca the driver’s voice from the front.

Taking a deep breath, Erwin then turned his face slightly, speaking through the wooden panel to the driver, "Nothing, keep going."

"Alright!"

Inside the carriage, the prison guard brother gazed at Erwin with wide-open, pitch-black eyes. He asked softly, "Are you truly on the side of justice?"

"Why ask such a question?" Glancing at the scenery passing outside the window, Erwin casually responded, "The captain of the Silver Moon Knight Fifth Squad is undoubtedly on the side of justice. It’s not just that, but always ready to sacrifice life for justice."

"But I feel you resemble a demon more," the prison guard brother said thoughtfully. "Have you heard the whispers of the abyss? The whispers of demons always stir up evil thoughts in people. The way you persuaded him in the prison was very much like a demon. I thought n of justice should defeat the enemy openly on the battlefield."

Erwin was montarily stunned, chuckled, and replied, "Sorry, I’m not strong enough for that level yet. Will work towards it."

...

Moonlight slanted through the castle window, casting an oval glow on the room’s floor.

Dovna lay quietly sleeping on the lord’s large bed.

Suddenly, she opened her eyes and sat up abruptly.

At the foot of her bed, Purgatory Demon Alphonse squatted silently.

"What is it?" Dovna widened her eyes asking.

"Ran away," Alphonse replied softly.

"Ran away? What does that an?"

"Erwin, the captain of the Silver Moon Knight Fifth Squad you captured, escaped."

"That’s impossible!"

"But he did escape, Sean led him away."

Dovna got out of bed, hurriedly running to the window to look outside.

The city gates were tightly closed.

"He’s been gone for quite a while. You shouldn’t have been so harsh on Sean," Alphonse said expressionlessly.

"Why didn’t you wake ?" Dovna turned back and questioned.

"To teach you a lesson, you’re too willful. So willful that you don’t care about the consequences. You terrify Sean, causing panic. Panic leads to betrayal. You should learn to cultivate a group of your own confidants and make them serve you. Every villain has their own logic, and at any ti, you can’t rely on subordinates to be loyal."

"Even if I were to cultivate, I wouldn’t cultivate him. I was planning to kill him anyway, just lacked an excuse."

Dovna hurriedly wrapped herself in a coat and rushed out like lightning.

Alphonse’s gaze slowly followed Dovna’s figure, remaining motionless as he sat by the bed.

...

Under the starry night, Sean led a total of fifteen cavalryn, with a carriage carrying Erwin, racing along the winding road.

Halfway there, they stopped in front of a small warehouse in the mountains.

The soldiers quickly dismounted, opened the warehouse, took off their armor, and stuffed all weapons, armor, and military gear into the warehouse. Then they quickly changed into rchant attire. They even changed Erwin’s carriage.

After riding a bit further, they quickly set a campfire by the roadside and set up camp, pretending to be traveling campers.

...

Dovna unknowingly flew over their heads.

...

After Dovna left, the soldiers hiding in the tents quickly ca out, took Erwin, and headed back the way they ca. At the sa ti, they kept the campsite as it was, looking as if the travelers were resting in the tents.

"You’ve prepared for this a long ti ago?" Erwin asked softly as he got on the carriage.

Supporting Erwin, Sean replied in a low voice, "I just want to survive. To survive and have wealth and freedom. I have no interest in standing against the Silver Moon Knight Order. Can you fulfill that for ?"

"I can’t promise wealth; I don’t even have it myself."

"Is that so? Then what’s the point of pursuing justice?"

"Simply justice."

In the end, Sean took Erwin and that prison guard brother to a remote small village, hid all the horses, then hiked up a mountain path to a hunter’s cottage.

"She can fly and is very fast. We can’t compete with her in speed. If she catches up, we’re done. But she’s alone. Without , she probably doesn’t even know how to mobilize troops. As long as we shake her off, there are many ways to escape. But before that, we’d better hide first. Such a large group walking on the road is easy for her to spot."

"How long do we have to hide?"

"I don’t know either," Sean hesitated, whispering, "At least until she loses patience?"

"Loses patience?" Erwin was taken aback.

"Yes, loses patience." Sean sneered, "She’s just a little girl, a willful little girl. I don’t quite understand why the demon would choose her."

...

Ti ticked away.

At dawn, when the sky was barely bright, Dovna, who realized she had been tricked, returned to the empty, disguised traveler campsite made by Sean.

The campfire had completely gone out, leaving only charred branches, scattered embers, and wisps of smoke drifting toward the sky.

Dovna stomped heavily on the campfire pile.

Clouds of ash rose and dispersed in the air.

Dovna, barefoot, stomped one foot after another, heavily treading as if venting.

"Doesn’t it hurt?" Alphonse’s figure appeared behind her.

Dovna turned sharply, staring blankly at Alphonse, breathing heavily.

"Where did they go? You know where they are, don’t you?"

Alphonse’s mouth slightly curled into a smile, revealing fangs, "I knew about two hours ago, but now, not necessarily."

"So where were they two hours ago?"

"I don’t want to tell you."

"You don’t want to tell ?" Dovna’s eyes widened.

"Yes, I don’t want to tell you. Rember I told you? The entire Kapu is insignificant in the abyss’ territory. We don’t care what happens here; we care about you. But you’ve disappointed , to so extent."

"I didn’t fail—!" Dovna scread.

"Did you? Then can you capture him now?"

"I can!"

"How are you going to capture him?"

"He’s definitely still in Kapu, I’m sure! He’s definitely still in Kapu! I’ll find him and rip him apart!"

"Alright, I’ll wait. Hope you won’t disappoint this ti; otherwise, I’ll take back the power I lent you. Do you know what the consequences will be? If you’re no longer a Demon Envoy, how will they treat you?" Alphonse chuckled, and his figure disappeared in the wind like a sand sculpture.

Dovna’s eyes widened, standing dumbfounded in place.
