"There’s a lot of money to be made at school. Of course, there’s even more outside the school, but... how do I put it? It’s too much trouble. It’s easier to earn pocket money on campus. My makeup and stuff all depend on it."

"Besides lectures, what else?"

"For example, helping the Magic Masters with odd jobs. That’s relatively stable, but you need the Magic Masters’ approval. They usually only like top students."

"I’m already helping my ntor with odd jobs."

"Oh, right, I forgot you’re a special admit and even skipped a grade." Mosharili suddenly laughed mischievously and added, "Actually, I didn’t forget, just teasing you. And, hmm... let think. Oh, there’s tutoring."

"Tutoring?"

"Every year, a lot of kids take the entrance exams for Magic Academy. Parents think if they hire soone who has already passed the exams—like you or —to teach their children, their chances of passing will increase significantly. They could hire a Magic Master, but Magic Masters don’t usually take on such jobs, and their rates are out of most people’s budgets. Because there’s demand for it, the school organizes this. All you have to do is register at the academic office, then wait in line. I already helped one kid get in, you know!"

"Wait in line?" Angel froze for a second at the phrase. He hated queuing more than anything else.

"Yes, lining up. After all, a lot of students are eager to take on this kind of work. Two silver coins an hour—it’s way faster than sitting through lectures. But there aren’t that many students needing tutoring, so you have to wait your turn."

"How long is the wait?"

"About half a year, I think."

"Half a year? That’s too long. Anything else?" Angel pressed on.

"Hmm... let think." Mosharili furrowed her brows in deep thought for a mont before saying, "Scholarships? If your grades are excellent, you can apply. If you achieve results, there’s even more money. But usually, it’s the Magic Masters who produce actual results—not students."

"I know about that—I’ve already applied. But it’s not much, only three hundred silver coins, and there’s only one chance each year."

"Three hundred silver coins isn’t a small amount, is it?" Mosharili was astonished. "And... selling stuff? I know so students bring back magic materials from outside and sell them to peers. Judging by how keen they seem, they must be making decent money. But I don’t have specifics since I’ve never done it."

"Bringing back magic materials?" Angel slightly tilted his head, thinking aloud, "If they can sell to other students, it ans their costs are relatively low and they’re turning a profit. I need a lot of magic materials anyway. Even if they don’t sell, I can use them myself. That’s a good idea—it at least saves costs. What else?"

"What else..." Mosharili sighed helplessly. "There’s also administrative jobs? Our school operates on student self-governance, so there are very few staff in administration. Because of this, many students take on administrative roles. I heard the pay for those positions is pretty good. You’ve been here nearly a year, and you didn’t know this?"

"I didn’t." Angel shook his head. "I don’t live on campus, and I’m the only one in my class. Every day, I’m either doing experints with my ntor or on my own—I don’t get to hear much from other people."

Mosharili’s mood brightened, her surprise evident: "Then you might need so friends, like . I love digging up little bits of gossip and can tell you every day."

Angel, oblivious to the shift in Mosharili’s tone, stayed focused on his interests. "Tell more about the teaching positions."

"Hmm... I’ve heard it can pay up to two hundred silver coins a month? Of course, on the low end, it might only be fifty. You need to run for it, though, and it can be quite exhausting, taking up a lot of ti. From what I know, none of the students in those roles are particularly good academically. Not that their grades would improve even if they didn’t take the job."

"Two hundred a month... That sounds not too bad. And outside school? You haven’t told much about that yet—I’m curious."

"Uh..." Mosharili was visibly embarrassed now, cautiously saying, "I really don’t know much about those. It’s probably like how regular people look for jobs—having magic skills just makes it easier. It’s all part-ti, so how much you earn depends on how much work you take on and what the boss is willing to pay."

Angel lowered his head and carefully jotted down notes in his notebook.

The "Esoterics of the Red Demon Era" lecture wrapped up, but neither Angel nor Mosharili seed to have paid any attention to it. They had been chatting the entire ti, even speaking so loudly at tis that the Magic Master on stage shot them angered looks.

When the lecture ended, Angel left with a full page of "how magic apprentices can make money" notes and a one-silver-coin stipend. Mosharili, on the other hand, walked away with only the one-silver-coin stipend.

Watching Angel’s departing figure and the single silver coin in her hand, Mosharili sighed in exasperation.

"Mosha... Mosha what?"

Just as she turned to leave, Mosharili heard Angel’s voice again and looked back to see him heading her way from amidst the dispersing crowd, still clutching his books.

"Mosha what? Sorry, I forgot your na."

"Mosharili. ’Mosha’ is an elven rune, and ’Lili’ is my personal suffix."

"Got it—this ti I’ll rember. Earlier, when you introduced yourself, I wasn’t really trying to rember... I an, I didn’t hear it clearly. Don’t take it too personally. Just a little annoyed reaction is understandable." Angel ca to stand directly in front of Mosharili again.
