The silver moonlight illuminated the earth, the mountains, rivers, forests—everything was coated with a new shade. In this pitch-black night, it looked sowhat gray.

Jones flapped his wings, struggling to fly.

On the Keltos Continent, the silver moon symbolizes luck. No matter if they are human or Blood Clan, this view is universally agreed upon. Yet tonight, Jones couldn’t find any reason to feel lucky. In truth, the enemy could arrive at his doorstep at any mont. Now, aside from unease and anger, Jones felt nothing else.

Would the letter to Salted Fish Port make it in ti?

It seed unlikely.

The distance from Giant Snake City to Salted Fish Port was several tis farther than that to Hilde. If he relied solely on Dora, it was virtually impossible for her to return before dawn. Even with Richie’s Guardian Angel and demon-guiding assistance, or Bruto’s help in activating space magic, it would still be dawn before anything could be accomplished.

However, the enemy would hardly allow things to drag on until dawn. Unless they planned to stay in Giant Snake City for a day, they would certainly find a solution within the next two hours before daybreak.

Jones felt like he was teetering on the edge of despair.

But aside from this course of action, it seed he had no other options left.

From afar, he noticed a swarm of crows circling above his castle, noisily cawing. Startled, he quickly lowered his altitude and dove into the forest below, flying closely over the ground.

...

"No one’s here, have they all gone into hiding?"

"What about the Hydra? The Hydra’s missing too?"

"Not a single soul in the castle, let alone the Hydra."

"Keep searching. Such a massive Hydra—where could it possibly be hiding?"

"Keep looking."

From a distance, Jones could already hear their murmuring voices. He instantly drew in a cold breath, then exhaled slowly in relief.

Isn’t this exactly what he had expected?

Count Dracula wouldn’t give Jones much ti to react. So after delivering the "last ultimatum," they had set out the very next nightfall. This was indeed the logical move.

The silver lining was that they hadn’t yet discovered the hiding place of the dwarves and the Hydra. That must count as so good news, right?

Taking on human form, Jones suppressed his magic power’s fluctuations and cautiously crept toward the castle.

Without question, Count Dracula, as well as every Blood Clan mber from the Deacon Council who had co here, were overwhelmingly more powerful than Jones—many tis over. This ant Jones couldn’t get too close; otherwise, the risk of being discovered would be imnse.

"They just left not long ago. Look, the bonfire is still warm. And these pieces of at—they’re roasted but left unfinished."

From afar, Jones saw scattered deer and pheasant at near the Dwarf Village. It was all ga he had hunted earlier today. The crows were drawn to it. Several had already cautiously landed and were inching closer.

A few mbers of the Blood Clan stood in the open space beside the Dwarf Village Chief. That was where the dwarves typically held their barbecues and bonfire parties. As for Count Dracula, Jones didn’t see him yet.

Holding his breath, Jones carefully hid behind a rock, observing them from afar.

If they hadn’t found the Hydra and dwarves, there was no imdiate need for Jones to show himself. After all, who knows how long a conversation would drag on once face-to-face? He might even end up being taken away right then and there.

Jones suddenly hoped that Adelle would delay her arrival. If Adelle showed up now with a large troop, Jones would undoubtedly have to step forward.

"Looks like they got the news and ran off directly."

"I don’t think they ran. Think about it—the dwarves might manage to flee, but such a massive Hydra? Let it run for a day and we’d catch up instantly. I think they’re still nearby, just hiding."

"Where could they be? In the castle?"

Two mbers of the Blood Clan transford into bats and flew rapidly toward the castle, while the others continued wandering and searching every suspicious corner.

Jones remained crouched behind the rock, watching from afar.

Finally, from the castle balcony, he spotted Count Dracula, alongside two other mbers of the Blood Clan.

One had black hair and a robust stature. Jones recognized this one as a Brotherhood mber under Count Dracula, soone who had visited the Jones family many tis. This must be the friend of Count Dracula that Dora had ntioned—an associate of the Deacon Council.

The other had brown hair and a dium build. Jones had never seen this one before. Judging by his attire, he seed to hold a higher rank, as his clothing differed slightly from that of the other Deacon Council mbers.

At this mont, Count Dracula was conversing with the two individuals, standing precisely where Jones’s room was located.

From such a distance, it was impossible for Jones to hear the specifics of their discussion. And he dared not get closer—with so many Blood Clan mbers swarming around, at least thirty by his estimate. All adults, all high-ranking Blood Clan.

After all, only high-ranking Blood Clan mbers qualified to serve in the Deacon Council.

After a while, a loud "boom" erupted from within the castle, shattering the southern tower wall and spreading a thick cloud of white smoke. Dust and stone debris filled the air.

Jones was startled, his eyes widening instinctively.

A Blood Clan mber transford into a bat and flew out of the castle, shouting to the others, "This castle doesn’t have a basent—they’re not hiding in the basent."
