Location: Vija Magical Academy – West Wing

The sky above the academy cracked.

Not taphorically—literally.

Through a shimring gash in reality, sothing began slipping into existence. It didn’t walk or fly—it glitched forward, fra by fra, like corrupted code stitched into the world.

Its form changed constantly. One mont a child, the next a mass of blades. Then a featureless mask.

Above it floated a corrupted tag:

> [??ERROR?? SYSTEM CORE DETECTED]

---

Inside the Main Hall

Jay and Alicia appeared mid-teleport, stumbling onto the marble floor as magical alarms blared.

> [ALERT: ANOMALY LEVEL 5 DETECTED]

[ERGENCY LOCKDOWN INITIATED]

Jay looked up just in ti to see Headmaster Varxus clash with the creature.

Or try to.

The mont his attack spell connected, the creature’s body flickered—and rewound the mont. Ti looped for a single second, and then Varxus’s attack hit himself.

Blood sprayed.

The Headmaster collapsed.

Jay froze.

"...Okay. This thing doesn’t follow the rules."

Alicia’s grip on her sword tightened. "What is that?"

> [System Analysis Failed.]

[Result: NULL.]

[Designation: ERROR.]

Jay slowly stood.

"It’s not just a rogue host. It’s a broken system with no user. A corrupted program acting on its own."

"Can you beat it?" Alicia asked.

Jay looked at her.

Then at his System HUD.

Strength: 999

IQ: x999

Luck: ???

Sanity: [ fluctuating... ]

> [New Option Unlocked – Skill: Recursive Rewrite Detected]

[WARNING: Unknown Cost]

Jay clicked it anyway.

"What are you doing?" Alicia shouted.

"Sothing really dumb."

---

System Skill: Recursive Rewrite – Activated

Ti slowed.

Jay moved in real-ti while everything else looped behind him.

He stepped through reality—approaching the ERROR glitch while calculations scread in his head.

> "Rewrite system structure... isolate core..."

"Lock recursive loop... deny causality..."

"Deny causality..."

"Deny cause..."

"Deny..."

Jay’s nose bled. His system sparked. His vision blurred.

And then—he touched the ERROR’s mask.

For a split second, the mask split—revealing a face.

His face.

But younger.

Crying.

> ["Kill ," it whispered.]

Then—

Boom.

Jay was thrown backwards, crashing through three walls and skidding to a stop in the training field.

Smoke rose. The ERROR... was gone.

For now.

---

Aftermath

Jay lay on the ground, blinking at the sky.

Alicia knelt beside him. "You okay?"

Jay coughed. "No. Also maybe. Kind of."

Varxus was recovering with the help of ergency healers.

Across the courtyard, faculty muttered.

Jay turned to Alicia.

"That thing... it wasn’t attacking. It was looking for sothing. Or soone."

Alicia nodded. "It looked like you."

"Not just looked," Jay whispered. "It was ."

She froze. "What are you saying?"

Jay didn’t answer imdiately. He stared at his HUD, now flickering.

Then he whispered:

"I think... I might be the final boss."
