Sasha's words were quite accurate. Bai Ling had been chopping the chair since midnight, continuing until broad daylight, and had only managed to cut a small opening in the chair.
"Hah..." At this point, Miss Sword Saint was covered in sweat, her sword-holding hand trembling continuously.
She felt that even fighting a god would be better than this situation. At least fighting a god would give her so feedback, while chopping the chair gave her no feedback at all.
However, it was finally over. The opening she had spent half a day cutting was finally large enough to release the divine artifact that had been sealed within the throne.
Watching a golden thin chain fly out from the throne and wrap around Bai Ling's wrist, Qila pinched her own face hard. Was she dreaming?
There really was a divine artifact.
But hadn't Bai Ling said this was their demon race's ancestral divine artifact? Why was it now directly wrapping around Bai Ling's hand?
Could it be this divine artifact planned to change allegiance and run to the human side?
"Princess, your demon race was still hiding this secret weapon?" Sasha was also stunned. She poked Qila, asking quietly.
Since they had their own divine artifact, why had they sought her help last night? They could have just used their own divine artifact.
Qila quickly shook her head. Her level of confusion was no less than Sasha's. "I don't know. I have no idea how Sister Bai knew there was a divine artifact inside this chair."
Could it really have been a divine prophetic dream?
Qila and Sasha were waiting for Bai Ling's detailed explanation, while Bai Ling was ntally communing with that god girl.
"Quite fast. I thought you'd delay a bit longer."
"Hah, ti is of the essence. I need to hurry and save Leticia." Bai Ling didn't respond but went straight to the point—she needed to go save Leticia.
The god girl giggled. "No rush, no rush. Rest for a mont first. Let have a talk with her descendant."
"Hey!" Bai Ling called out sowhat anxiously.
But the god girl paid no attention to Bai Ling's dissatisfaction. She manipulated the golden chain to fly from Bai Ling's wrist toward the stunned Qila.
Before Qila could react, the golden chain wrapped directly around Qila's wrist.
"Eh?" Only then did Qila react. She instinctively wanted to pull off the chain, but the voice that sounded in her mind made her hand freeze in mid-air.
"Don't be nervous. I won't hurt you."
"Who are... you?" Qila was sowhat nervous. She had only faced one god before, and that god had been quite fierce and nacing.
And the Prophecy Books also said gods were mostly hot-tempered and quick to violence, which made Qila always have so concerns when facing gods.
"I can no longer rember my forr na." The god girl said with a laugh. "Let's discuss the details inside, shall we?"
"Inside?"
"Yes, inside."
As the god girl's voice fell, a golden light flashed across the chain on Qila's wrist. The space before her shattered like a broken mirror, and a pitch-black hole appeared in the center of the hall.
Qila stepped back sowhat fearfully, but Sasha standing behind her reached out to support her.
"Don't be afraid. It's just an entrance to a divine domain." Sasha was soone who had seen the world—she was used to such holes.
"Yes, co in. It's more convenient to talk inside." This ti, the god girl's voice didn't appear in soone's mind but ca from within the black hole. "I've set the entrance near the core area. You'll see after walking just a few steps."
Qila and Sasha looked at each other. She didn't know whether she should trust this god she hadn't even t.
But Bai Ling didn't have so many concerns. She entered the black hole almost without any hesitation, making Qila wonder if Sister Bai had been possessed.
To trust a god she'd only seen in dreams so completely?
If that god planned to trick them into the divine domain for a total wipeout, wouldn't they be walking into a trap by entering like this?
"I'm a bit scared." Qila said quietly to Sasha.
Being scared wasn't shaful. When facing unknown things, fear was the normal response. Bai Ling's thoughtless direct entry was the absurd behavior.
"Sigh, Miss Bai has already gone in. It's not good for us two to just stand here." Sasha didn't struggle much—it was just eting a god face to face. She'd done that before.
However, her confidence was completely useless because the god lady hadn't invited her at all.
"Cough cough, that lady over there should wait a mont."
"?" Sasha pointed at herself, tilting her head as she asked.
The god didn't answer.
But the answer was obvious. Bai Ling had already entered, Qila was a possessor of royal demon bloodline, so Sasha was the extra person here.
"Qila, co in quickly." Seeming sowhat impatient, Bai Ling stuck her head out of the black hole, waving at Qila.
Nothing should go wrong, right?
Qila swallowed and sowhat cautiously lifted her leg, taking a step toward the black opening.
The golden chain separated from Qila's wrist and flew into mid-air, making Qila stop again. She couldn't understand what was happening now.
"Divine artifacts can't enter divine domains." The god and Sasha explained in unison.
"I see." Qila stepped forward again, walking step by step toward the black opening. At the entrance, she hesitated again.
But this ti Bai Ling didn't give Qila ti to think. She grabbed Qila's wrist and pulled her into the black hole.
After swallowing the two girls, the black opening disappeared like smoke, as if it had never existed.
Looking at the golden chain floating in mid-air, Sasha's eyes flashed with investigative light. To display this level of autonomous ability, this divine artifact's unsealing degree was quite high.
She even suspected this divine artifact's god had actually gained complete freedom, and her unwillingness to co out was perhaps simply because she didn't want to.
"I know what you're thinking, but I can answer you—I haven't yet gained a free body." The god's voice sounded again, this ti only Sasha could hear her. "You carry the auras of several old friends on you. It seems this world has undergone considerable changes."
Even gods had begun coexisting peacefully? This was sothing unthinkable in the distant past.
Back then, good-tempered gods were truly few and far between.
......
"It's been a long ti since we've had guests. It's a bit ssy, please don't mind." Leading the two girls into her palace, the black-haired god girl spoke to them with a slight smile.
What she called ssy was actually just modesty. The first floor here was quite clean and tidy—it had nothing to do with being ssy.
"Um, Miss God..." Qila began with so panic.
"Call Infinoi. I rember that was her na." The god girl smiled.
Qila's expression beca quite interesting. Infinoi—that was clearly her surna.
Although basically no one would address her as Miss Infinoi, this was indeed her surna.
If she had to address the girl before her as Infinoi, it felt strange.
"Mm, Miss Infinoi, I want to rescue Leticia as soon as possible." Bai Ling emphasized her thoughts again. She didn't care what this god girl was called—she just wanted to rescue Leticia now.
"Patience. Before going to save soone, adjust your own state first." The god girl who called herself Infinoi snapped her fingers, and three cups of steaming tea appeared before the three of them.
She first picked up her teacup and drank elegantly. "Hah, unfortunately the tea leaves she left are all used up. Now I can only use such thods to recreate the taste of the past."
Qila also picked up her teacup and took a very small sip. "This tea tastes quite similar to the tea leaves grown in our Demon King's palace."
"Oh, if there's a chance, send so in for . Maybe these tea leaves were passed down from the era when she and I first t." Infinoi put down her teacup, seemingly not very satisfied with the tea's taste. "Little Bai should drink too. This tea has restorative effects. Though the effect isn't strong, it's still sothing."
"Mm." Bai Ling didn't refuse. She picked up the teacup and drained it in one gulp, forming a sharp contrast with Infinoi's elegance and Qila's caution.
Seeing Bai Ling's bold action, Infinoi chuckled. "Weren't you afraid I poisoned the tea?"
Bai Ling shook her head. "Not afraid."
"You trust that much?"
"Mm." Bai Ling's trust in Infinoi actually ca from her sowhat similar appearance to Leticia. She instinctively felt this girl who resembled Leticia couldn't be a bad person.
"How touching. Back then, it took nearly ten years to earn that guy's trust." Infinoi seed very happy.
Being trusted was always sothing to be happy about.
"I called you in because I wanted to ask you a question." After the pleasantries ended, Infinoi finally stated her purpose for calling Bai Ling and Qila in. "I've discovered you seem to have sothing different about you."
"Different?" Infinoi's words confused Qila. She and Bai Ling were definitely different—one was demon race, one was human. It would be strange if they were the sa.
"Mm, the aura on her body is different from the demon race I'm familiar with. Though essentially you're the sa type of creature, your energy systems seem completely distinct."
"Mm, in our terms, my sister and I are demon race, while Sister Bai is human." Qila understood Infinoi's aning. In Infinoi's era, she hadn't seen humans, so now she probably thought Bai Ling was actually a special demon.
"Humans? Demon race?" As expected, Infinoi was confused. She looked at Qila, then at Bai Ling. "How do you differentiate races?"
How to differentiate?
"By what abilities we can use. We demon race can use magic, while humans like Sister Bai can use superpowers." Qila explained while raising her hand to summon her magic power. "Those who have this are demon race."
"No, I an, besides these things, what do you rely on to differentiate whether you're human or demon race?" Infinoi indicated Qila had misunderstood her aning.
"Huh?" Qila blinked. Besides this, she seed to have no other way to differentiate humans and demons.
She cast a pleading look at Bai Ling, but this girl's cultural level was even more pitiful. Expecting her to explain was like expecting Infinoi to suddenly have an epiphany.
"It seems you can't give an answer either." After waiting a while and seeing both girls in a daze, Infinoi sighed helplessly. "Never mind. I'll get the answer eventually."
She had enough ti to slowly search for the answer to this question, and she had the patience.
"Tell about what's happened over the years. My perception can barely cover the palace outside. I don't know much about what's happened all these years."
This was Qila's strong suit. Her academic performance was quite good, much more impressive than her sister who basically failed every exam.
Here's a joke: Demon King's understanding of demon race history might not even match so human scholars.
Leticia basically only rembered so very major events, then had so impression of relatively big things. Beyond that, she'd have to consult history books to recall.
Qila was different. Though she couldn't recite all historical events backwards, she could manage general narration.
Demon race history spanned nearly ten thousand years, with countless major and minor events. Qila only picked the more significant historical events to tell, and it still took about two hours to finish.
"After sister was defeated, we withdrew our army back to the Demon Realm. There haven't been any major events in recent years. The biggest thing should be sister being trapped in a divine artifact yesterday."
After Qila finished her account, Infinoi sat silently stroking her chin, apparently digesting the many events that had occurred over the years.
After a long while, she finally looked up. "So demon race and humans are mortal enemies?"
"Mm." Qila nodded.
"Then why is the current Demon King entangled with a human?" Infinoi pointed at Bai Ling, who was lying on the table with closed eyes, resting.
She could definitely see Bai Ling's feelings for Leticia. Originally she thought this was quite normal.
But now Qila was telling her humans and demons were enemies?
So how did the relationship between these two develop this way?
A Demon King and such a powerful human—could they really co together?
