Chapter 235: Response

[Neurological Sense – Evatt Loasa]

As a doctor adept at sensory surgery, he naturally also knew how to alter senses and even fabricate them.

Before his breakthrough, the profession he obtained from the blue letter was that of a “wire controller”

This ant he had an extrely high level of control and precision over any thread-like substances;

with the increase in his Sensing value, he could even slowly grow lines directly from his body.

He could use thin threads to slice through enemies, as well as for delicate human surgeries and organ suturing.

Since childhood, he had been curious about why people could hear sounds, taste flavors, see patterns.

...

After coming to Zion, he held the noble profession of doctor as his target.

He began to specialize in sensory dicine, applying his thread control abilities in various surgeries, aiding many renowned doctors in completing a variety of delicate sensory operations.

In the fifth year after joining the organization, Evatt finally obtained the relic he had dread of—the “Weaving Brain Core.” Although it was a single Attribute relic, the sensory enhancents and abilities it bestowed made its value assessnt far higher than ordinary relics.

Upon successfully breaking through, his profession also advanced to a “Sensory Manipulator.”

At only thirty-one years old, he passed Zion’s [Doctor Assessnt] with his exquisite sensory surgeries, arriving at the Sunshine Great Hospital as the deputy director with the status of a reserve doctor.

Many gentlen with damaged senses would co to him by reputation, to be restored to their original condition by his hand.

Yet, such a promising figure, seemingly with the template of a main character, even capable of bringing hope to humanity, transford into a servant of the dead in the blink of an eye.

Yi Chen recognized the man at a glance,

During every eting with Director Dis, he would see this man following behind;

he later learned that this person was indeed the deputy director of Sunshine Hospital.

Cold sweat slid down his forehead,

The presence of such an important figure as a dead ant that the Sun Church led by Director Dis had very possibly failed in battle, and in the worst case, might have been wiped out completely.

“No… If they’d been wiped out completely, the person appearing here would be Director Dis himself.

There’s still a chance. I need to find Barry and escape with him.”

Faced with a gentleman who had broken through the Limit and whose body had been altered by Death, Yi Chen had no intention of a head-on confrontation.

What he was thinking about in his brain was only how to find Barry, how to escape the hotel, and if he could reach the nearby Sunshine Great Hospital, he could seek the protection of old Mr. Helvoye.

Just then,

The deputy director, manipulating threads with his fingers, adjusted the position of his wire-fra glasses with one and used another thread to adjust his hair to cover the rotting skull.

“I guess you’re currently considering two questions. 1. Where is your companion? 2. How to escape from the hotel.

Let

answer your second question first.

Even if you seize the one in ten thousand chance to truly escape the hotel, death, or rather, an encounter with death, awaits all humans in this city ultimately.”

Yi Chen, on the contrary, responded with a relaxed smile, “Since it’s a dead end anyway, could the deputy director tell

the answer to the first question?”

“If you want to know that badly, co with ~ They’re waiting for you below.”

The deputy director, who had just co up in the elevator, stepped back into it and beckoned to Yi Chen in the middle of the hallway, while saying:

“Don’t think about using the distance between us to continue your escape, the entire hotel is within my [range]… The reason I haven’t killed you is simply that the Master would be much happier if I brought you back alive.

Co quickly, your friends might still be breathing their last, and if you’re any slower, you’ll only be able to formally speak with them after their resurrection.”

Yi Chen packed away his weapons into the suitcase and quickly ran into the elevator.

After pressing the button for the first floor, Deputy Director Evatt looked at Yi Chen with satisfaction, “You’re even putting away your weapons? It seems you’re not planning to resist… Good, if you accept death willingly, the Master may give you more opportunities.”

“No, it’s just that your ability perfectly matches the ‘Death Plague’ that pervades the city.

Your ability to manipulate the senses would make short work of us gentlen who have not yet broken through and remain at the stage of [human].

Your control over senses is unparalleled, and it would be effortless for you to transmit the Death Symbol;

once the visual signal is received, everything would end.

Even covering our eyes would be futile, unless we destroy our eyes.”

While saying this, Yi Chen even made a motion as if digging out eyes.

But the deputy director proudly added: “No… Even if you remove the visual organs, I can still create images in your brain. As a sensory doctor, I have these basic operations.

Unless you have a ans to perfectly shield against my ‘sensory line’, which is unlikely, of course.

“You’re right, I have the perfect affinity with the Death Plague, and I can easily spread the symbol throughout the city.”

“That’s exactly why I’m willing to go there to develop. What’s the point of staying here? Such a weak Organization, such a lowly human identity will sooner or later be swallowed up by the Old World.”

Yi Chen just smiled faintly without saying much.

Ding-dong~ The elevator arrived.

When he followed the vice principal into the hotel lobby, the scene before him made him freeze all of a sudden.

Even though he was ntally prepared, veins still popped on his forehead.

Barry included, all eight teammates who had reached their personality limits and who had followed Yi Chen to cleanse the hotel were hung from the lobby ceiling with special Death threads.

Even if hanging them didn’t strangle them to death, the Death Aura emitted by the threads would still cause brain death.

“Oh~ Six people have already gone to et Death, huh?” The vice principal joked, and the woman carrying the Big Curved Sword finally couldn’t hold on;

her tensed body slackened, “The seventh has co too, just one more. A rare heir to the Knight Family should make a fine Death Knight.”

At that mont,

Yi Chen took a deep breath, used his special physique to bolster his vocal tract, and scread at the top of his lungs:

“Barry!”

This scream directly shattered the glassware on the front desk and even made the vice principal instinctively cover his ears, ringing slightly in his ears.

With that na being called out,

Barry, whose consciousness was flickering, seed to hear the call from the outside world, such a familiar na.

From the mont he was born into a Knight Family and given this na by his parents, it was deeply etched into his soul. People called out this na in every mont of his life.

Perhaps it was just the simplest of greetings,

Maybe just the most plain address by family,

It could also be a plea for help when others needed his aid,

The carousel of mories just so happened to pause at Barry’s coming of age ceremony where he took the Knight Armor and the Hamr Shield with the hamr pattern from his father’s hands.

“Barry, from now on, you are a knight of our family. From this day forward, the family’s honor will be bound together with your na.

Fight for glory, and bring that glory back with you.”

Whirr! Consciousness vibrated!

Barely alive, Barry suddenly opened his eyes, responding to the call of his na.

In that mont, he transcended the instinct of biological thinking, and with an absolute Knight’s spirit, he suppressed the brain’s longing for death.

The Hamr Shield resonating with its master’s awakening… Whirr! Weapons recall!

The returning Shield cut the thin line on his neck, and its half-ton body fell heavily, smashing a circular crater in the lobby floor.

The vice principal couldn’t believe what he saw before him;

it was the first ti he’d seen soone resist the Thought invasion of the Death Symbol.

“Incredible, the Master will surely be interested in you as well. Let’s take you both back.”

Left and right hands opened,

Invisible “sensory lines” shot into the brain at the precise angle of surgery, impossible to prevent.

Just as the vice principal prepared to alter their senses, plunging them into a sensory illusion… an unimaginable [Pain] shockingly traveled back up the sensory line.

Wow!

The pain made the vice principal shout out loud. Even as a dead man, he couldn’t filter out this Pain, this fundantal Pain from the Deep of the Old World.

The Pain forced him to retract the sensory lines as well.

“What is this…”

When the vice principal turned his head in the direction the Pain ca from, the form Yi Chen displayed instinctively made him step back.

Iron Chains grew between his arms and fell to the ground.

All over his Skin, including his face, terrifying spines grew at even intervals,

Both Eyes turned pitch black, not like those of a human, but resembling a Pathological individual from the Old World.

Even his gentleman’s clothes self-adapt into a “leather outfit,” forming rings of tal that dug into the Skin of Yi Chen.
