Jiang Yisheng hooked his lips, his gaze sweeping over his arm, suddenly recalling sothing, "Your hand, how did it get injured?"
"Got shot by accident while trying to catch Mo Ce, Mo Su’s grandfather." Since they had decided to be together, Ji Mingqian didn’t intend to hide it from him; he wanted him to understand his world as well.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yisheng’s complexion changed slightly, and he pursed his lips.
The person beside him suddenly fell silent. Ji Mingqian reached out to hook his fingers and said nonchalantly, "Don’t worry, it’s just a minor injury."
Jiang Yisheng furrowed his brows. How could getting shot be considered a minor injury?
"Jiang Yisheng, can I take that expression of yours as you feeling sorry for , huh?" Ji Mingqian suddenly leaned over with a teasingly mischievous smile on his lips.
Jiang Yisheng kept his eyes straight ahead and pushed against his shoulder, reminding him, "Focus on driving."
Ji Mingqian pouted, straightened up, and started talking about his past, "When Ajiu and the others and I established the K Organization, I got injured more often, all kinds of wounds, big and small. These past few years have been quite peaceful."
Jiang Yisheng’s eyelashes quivered, ripples of light swirling in his eyes. Who would have thought that the famously popular movie star Ji Mingqian had such an identity hidden behind him?
No wonder he was so unbridled and flamboyant in the circle, doing things differently from others.
"How co I’ve never heard you talk about your parents?"
Ji Mingqian’s hand on the steering wheel paused briefly. After a mont of silence, he smiled nonchalantly, "I don’t have parents; Master picked up from the street."
Jiang Yisheng was surprised, then his expression turned apologetic, "Sorry, I didn’t an to..."
"What’s there to apologize for? It’s nothing. I have my master, and I have relatives like Achen and the others; that’s enough for ," Ji Mingqian interrupted him, speaking indifferently.
"Master once asked whether I wanted to look for my birth parents or not; I refused. To , having my master and Achen and the others is enough. I’m already content."
And now he had him too; he was already very content. Heaven was still very kind to him.
Jiang Yisheng’s gaze deepened, a twinge of heartache flitting across the depths of his eyes.
For a mont, he reached over to cover the back of his hand, then turned to look out the window.
Ji Mingqian was stunned for a few seconds, catching glimpse of the reddish tip of the man’s ear from the corner of his eye. A radiant smile spread through his eyes as he grasped his hand in return.
From an angle he didn’t notice, a faint smile played at the corners of Jiang Yisheng’s lips.
...
In M country.
Clouds rolled and a gentle breeze blew occasionally.
When she woke up, it was almost evening.
Ye Jiuliang opened her sleepy eyes to glance around the bedroom, but there was no sign of Li Mochan.
Where did he go?
She yawned, lazily getting out of bed to wash up.
She took out her cellphone and leisurely walked out of the bedroom.
Downstairs, a burst of laughter could be heard, even from the staircase.
Ye Jiuliang stepped down the last stair, her quiet footsteps still drawing the attention of Grandma Jiang and the others.
"Xiaojiu is awake, co over here, we have so pastries." Grandma Jiang waved at her, her face beaming with a loving smile.
Ye Jiuliang walked over slowly, "Grandma, did Mohan go out?"
"He went to the company, he’ll be back soon," Grandma Jiang said.
Ye Jiuliang glanced at the stack of gift boxes on the table, her lips curving into a smile, "So many things, did you just go shopping?"
"No, Jennifer just ca by; she left just a little while ago," Veya said.
Jennifer?
Ye Jiuliang’s eyes deepened slightly as he casually asked, "Did Jennifer have sothing to do here?"
"She ca to visit and, by the way, asked about Asheng’s injury," Veya said warmly.
A few days earlier, Jiang Yisheng had called to check in, saying that he would be back after a while. Only then did Veya and the others feel relieved.
Still not giving up on Asheng? Ye Jiuliang’s gaze shifted. "Auntie, do you think highly of Jennifer?"
Veya was startled, then understood his words and smiled lightly, "Not really. That rascal Asheng doesn’t have feelings for Jennifer. Love is sothing that should co naturally; let him be."
"Auntie, do you have a type in mind for a daughter-in-law?" Ye Jiuliang probed.
Veya picked up her teacup and took a sip, the corner of her lips curling slightly, "Soone like you would be fine."
Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but chuckle. "Auntie, I’m serious. What type do you like? I’ll help you scout for her."
"Really?" Veya’s eyes lit up, and she asked excitedly.
Ye Jiuliang nodded.
"Family background isn’t important, good character is what matters most. Your friend nad XaXinuoi Nuo is nice too, but she already has a boyfriend," Veya said with a tinge of regret.
Why are all the good girls already taken? When will her Asheng bring soone ho?
If Asheng brought Aqian ho, would that faint her aunt? Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but let his imagination run wild.
"Fate will co when it’s ant to; being anxious is useless. Don’t scare people away like you did last ti," Jiang Hai said with a laugh.
Veya gave him a sidelong glance and complained, "If you’re not anxious, then stop hogging all your friends’ grandkids every ti you visit them."
Jiang Hai grinned sheepishly, "How did we get back to this topic again?"
"That’s exactly it. Don’t you want to hold your own grandkids?" Veya asked.
Jiang Hai spoke warmly, "I do want to, but Asheng is still young. There’s no rush."
Listening, Ye Jiuliang felt a bit of a headache coming on.
Having children was a big issue; just because of that, Aqian would have so worrying to do.
Even with her extraordinary dical skills, she couldn’t help him with that problem.
"Xiaojiu, why are you suddenly asking about this? Is Asheng interested in so girl?" the elder Madam Jiang asked curiously.
Ye Jiuliang snapped back to reality and touched his nose with an awkward smile, "No, I was just asking casually."
The one he had eyes for had long been there, it’s just that...
"If he has soone he’s fond of, rember to tell us, okay? Don’t keep secrets for him," Veya said cheerfully.
Ye Jiuliang nodded stiffly, afraid that by the ti it ca out, they wouldn’t want to know who it was.
"In three months, we’ll be adding a new mber to our family. It’s going to be even livelier here," said the elder Madam Jiang, her affectionate gaze falling on Ye Jiuliang’s evident belly, her face creasing into a bundle of smiles.
Thinking of the adorably cute little one was enough to bubble with joy.
"Xiaojiu, have you decided on a hospital for delivery?" Veya inquired.
Ye Jiuliang responded, "It’s all settled. It’s a private hospital, I have acquaintances there. I’ll go over a week in advance for the delivery."
The hospital also belonged to the K organization; she felt more at ease on her own turf.
At that mont, a phone call ca in.
Ye Jiuliang glanced at the caller ID; it was from Gu Xinuo.
He swiped to answer, yet the voice on the other end of the line was Chu Chen’s, "Ajiu, send out the red packet quickly."
His low voice could hardly hide the laughter, tinged with a hint of smugness.
