Chapter 402 - Olivia As Your Sister?
At this mont, Jennifer's brain worked instantly when she took a few steps back. Hesitation was present on her face as she shook her head, "L-Lucas… this…"
On the other hand, Lucas could sense that she has taken a step back from his grip. Opening his eyes, the sight that greeted him was her nervousness-filled expressions.
She was trembling with her widened eyes.
No words slipped out of his mouth but he simply clutched his other hand which was previously holding her chin. Taking a deep breath, his lips sealed into a straight line when he simply nodded his head.
"I-it's fine." He answered with a flat tone, almost making Jennifer realize what she had done. "I-it isn't what you think.. I'm simply.. not r-ready."
"I understand." That was all he answered when he tugged back his hands into his pockets.
The lines carved on his forehead where his eyes didn't et with hers. He was looking at the other surroundings, trying to ease his inner urge.
Her step back was the signal that she wasn't willing. It escalated his madness but nevertheless, he had to take the charge of the sa. 'Showing in front of her will only make her more fearful..' and letting her witness and pushing her away was the last resort for how.
The hands were converted into a fist where he managed to hide all the expressions and emotions beneath the mask that he wore of stillness.
The awkwardness was still at its increasing pace. As there was no denying that Jennifer could feel her heart thundering against her chest. With her hands wrapped around her purse in front of her body, she was taking a deep breath to not herself be moved and be scared.
This wasn't the ti to be scared, Jennifer told herself.
Lifting her eyes with the full confidence that was present for now, "I was thinking, we can increase our etings once I recover from everything that is going around . What do you suggest?"
Her words ca as surprise to Lucas, who just now had lost all the hopes. He was least expecting her to react to him, or to take any initiative.
But the small-signal was enough to aggregate his heart and ego, "For sure! Why not? Where would you like to go then?"
"A-any where." Jennifer maintained the sa faint smile on her lips, trying her hardest to not let her fury take on her head. "Maybe if you are free in the upcoming weeks.."
Lucas's brows were filled when he recalled his own schedule. Now that Olivia has chosen to go and opt for Jack's secretary position, he usually takes care of his own plans. "Well, I plan to have a eting with one of my upcoming investors on one yacht. Why don't you join in that too?"
Hearing this, Jennifer's eyes flew towards his face with a aningful stare filled with imnse joy, "Oh, you are getting a new investor!? That is wonderful!"
In return, Lucas smiled. He motioned her to walk further which Jennifer did as Lucas started to give a hint of the insight of his business deal which he was going to strike, "Since Jack has co, I was actually looking forward to having a few people by my side. And thankfully, I ca across this person who was willing to offer an investnt in our company."
"Since this investnt will be brought by , Jack will have no say in this." His words made sense to Jennifer since she could guess what exactly happened behind her back.
There was no doubt that there was a high and intense competition ongoing between both the brothers. Their status was at stake because if Lucas didn't do any major thing, him losing his potion despite being a legitimate child was a bit obvious.
Because of the sa reason, he was bent on showcasing his capabilities. However, Jennifer's mind works differently.
As she heard about the investor, Jennifer maintained the sa eagerness-filled expressions with her eyes sparkling.
"So, are you planning to actually have one investnt on your own and this will lower Jack's powers?" Jennifer asked with the intruding face, to which she got a small nod, "You are correct."
"How nice…." While Jennifer's lips showed a faint smile, her heart was laughing at this foolish person. The malicious glint passed from her eyes when she realized that there were so chances.
And maybe, gaining the trust of this man won't be as hard as she had expected this idea to be. "I would love to accompany you. Text the ti and date."
"Sure!"
Luas was already feeling on the top of the cloud. His self-esteem was reaching the peak of the sky where he could sense his ego getting more satisfied with her engaging in the conversation with him, regarding his business.
However, there are more than that which he needs to clear her about. "Jennifer, I also wanted to tell you sothing. It is important for you to learn." In return, Jenifer nodded her head when she anticipated him to speak further.
Initially, he was quiet but then, Lucas had sohow gathered the courage and found the sa indent that was important for him to do so. "Well, I don't know how much you know but, there is nothing going on between and Olivia."
"Your comnt inside gave the feeling that I should explain this to you. She was my secretary, and that was all the relationships I shared with her. In your eyes, I might have been soone who likes to go around and have fun, but I would like to change as well. Maybe for our future?" Future? A scoff left from Jennifer's lips.
Bringing her hand near the lips, she stopped herself from laughing at his words as if they were no less than any joke that was carried out in front of her eyes. "Is that true?"
"Yes, I seriously don't have anything to do with her." Lucas was anded on this topic, which gave her heart butterflies.
But it was not from his confession but from the fact that he was able to do such brilliant acting. Does he take her as a fool who has no idea what is going around her?
Jennifer stopped in her track when she looked at the man with her tilted head. At her constant and cold stare, Lucas could feel the tiny hairs rising at the back of his neck, but he kept his composure. But her next words rested his real patience and strength to lie on her face.
"So, do you consider Olivia as your sister? Hmm?"
