Yang Lin examined Lin Xiaoyan’s eyes and asked softly, "How are your eyes? Do they still hurt?"
Lin Xiaoyan shook her head, "They don’t hurt anymore."
"Good, as long as they don’t hurt. I’ll prescribe you a box of painkillers. If the pain is severe, take one; if it’s not painful or bearable, don’t take them. Co back for a recheck in three days."
"Okay, thank you, Doctor Yang."
Yang Lin looked at Lin Xiaoyan and smiled, "I should be the one thanking you."
"Yang Lin, did you rember what I told you?" The director nearby was anxious, pacing back and forth.
"Director, I still have patients now. Can we talk later?" Yang Lin calmly said to the director, then turned to call the nurse, "Xiao Lin, take this patient to get her prescription."
A young nurse ca running over and supported Lin Xiaoyan, "Alright, co, follow ."
Lin Xiaoyan followed the nurse to get her dication, and along the way, she learned that Doctor Yang had just returned from advanced studies abroad this year.
"Despite being so young, Doctor Yang is a genius. He obtained his Ph.D. from Beiniao dical College at the age of 20, beca a postdoctoral supervisor three years later, and also beca our hospital’s chief physician.
Doctor Yang has published several SCI papers and holds a few patents. He hasn’t failed a single surgery, went abroad for further studies last year, and just ca back this year. As soon as he returned, he completed a surgery that other doctors were afraid to perform. Super impressive!!!"
Lin Xiaoyan quietly listened, surprised that the doctor she just t was so remarkable.
"Fortunately, you blocked that troublemaker with a mop; otherwise, Doctor Yang’s hand... I can’t imagine. Anyway, thank you very much," the nurse gratefully told Lin Xiaoyan.
Lin Xiaoyan felt a bit shy, "No, no, it was what I should have done. I couldn’t just stand by and watch an innocent person get attacked."
Lin Wan accompanied Lin Xiaoyan to get her dication, and when Lin Xiaoyan went to pay, she found out soone had already covered the cost for her.
"This..." Lin Xiaoyan looked at Lin Wan, puzzled.
Lin Wan inquired with the cashier and found out it was Doctor Yang who paid. Lin Wan smiled and said, "Don’t worry, it was paid by Doctor Yang."
"How can I accept that? I’ll give you the money, and you can refund it back to Doctor Yang," Lin Xiaoyan anxiously said; she wasn’t helping to receive such benefits.
Lin Wan comforted her, "Just accept it. Doctor Yang probably didn’t know how else to thank you. Besides, you really helped him, so it’s understandable he paid for you. Don’t overthink it..."
In the end, Lin Xiaoyan went back to find Doctor Yang but learned he had taken leave to go ho, so she had to leave with her dication.
On the way, Lin Xiaoyan cautiously avoided any contact with people, afraid she might "see" sothing again.
Back at her rented room, Lin Xiaoyan laid on the bed with a sigh.
"What’s really going on?" Lin Xiaoyan muttered to herself.
"Could it be our family has a superpower?" Considering this possibility, Lin Xiaoyan couldn’t help but take out her phone to call her mom.
"Hello, Yanyan, when are you coming back?" Her mom’s voice ca through the phone.
Hearing her mom’s voice, the suppressed fear overwheld Lin Xiaoyan, and tears flowed uncontrollably, "Mom."
"What’s wrong, Yanyan? Are you crying? What happened?" Lin Mu’s voice was filled with concern.
Lin Xiaoyan took a deep breath, trying hard to hold back, "No, Mom, I’m not crying. I just woke up this morning with a slight cold, my nose is blocked. Mom, I miss you."
"I miss you too. I’ve been telling you to co back, but you insist on staying out. You’re there with nobody to care for you when you catch a cold. Co back, Yanyan. Any job will do; the salary doesn’t matter. With us at ho..." Lin Mu persuaded earnestly.
Tears continued to fall from Lin Xiaoyan’s eyes; she wanted to go ho too, but...
Before her brother got married, she could live at ho without worry, but ever since he got married two years ago, her sister-in-law would subtly say things whenever she returned.
She didn’t want to make her brother and parents uneasy, so she kept avoiding returning ho when there was no need.
Now that she’s graduated, moving back might only lead to more conflicts. She didn’t want her parents to be caught in the middle.
"Mom, I’ve already found a job. I want to explore for a few years before coming back. It’s hard work getting a degree; I want so freedom for a while!" Lin Xiaoyan cheerfully said.
"You, I can’t control you anymore. Just stay safe out there, rent a place in a safe area, don’t just think about saving money. Do you have enough money? I’ll send you so. Don’t skimp on food; health is most important..."
"Okay, okay, Mom, I know! You don’t need to send money, I have enough! Once I get my paycheck, I’ll send you so to spend!"
"Hahaha, no need to send money; just take care out there!"
"Oh, right, Mom, is there any secret in our family? Do we have so kind of superpower?" Lin Xiaoyan jokingly asked.
Lin Mu laughed heartily, "What superpower? Have you been watching too many movies? If I had superpowers, I’d fly straight to you to see you every day!"
Upon hearing this, Lin Xiaoyan felt a slight heaviness in her heart. After chatting with her mom for a long ti, they reluctantly ended the call.
"No superpower. Then what’s wrong with ?" Lin Xiaoyan grew more frightened, feeling she couldn’t let anyone know. Otherwise, what if she got taken away!
With all the movies and novels she’s read, it’s best to keep this a secret!
She did a good deed today, not bad!
Thinking about how she saved Doctor Yang’s arm today, and how Doctor Yang was so capable, it was like saving many people’s eyes!
With this thought, Lin Xiaoyan’s gloomy mood lifted.
She got up, washed her face, used her eye drops, and took her dication.
Maybe once her eyes got better, she’d stop "seeing" those things!
Lin Xiaoyan comforted herself.
In the afternoon, Lin Xiaoyan braved the scorching sun to continue her part-ti job.
She’s currently working part-ti at a foreign enterprise company, mainly handling data. The company is recently busy, and every employee is working to their limits. No one is available to organize the data, so they’ve hired soone part-ti to help. Lin Xiaoyan’s work would end once things settle down.
The job isn’t bad. She just organizes data daily, working from 9 to 5. As long as the data is organized, and she helps colleagues with printing and deliveries, it’s all OK. The salary is paid daily.
She earns 100 a day, which is quite good.
Just like that, three days flew by, and today she had to return to the hospital for an eye recheck. Her left eye had improved a lot, it wasn’t red or painful anymore, just felt a bit sore after looking at things for too long.
Lin Xiaoyan had asked her manager for an hour off yesterday. She planned to return to work after the hospital recheck.
