The Incubus System Chapter 870. Are They Only Eat and Breed?

I pursed my lips, initially attempting to feign ignorance. However, the weight of her gaze proved too much, and after a brief moment, I relented. "Fine, you got me. Yes, the attacks are mostly dominated by weaker demons," I admitted, throwing a dismissive hand gesture into the air.

"But here's the catch," I continued, meeting her unwavering gaze. "Some demons are more than just a minor inconvenience. Take the Imps, for example. They're crafty little devils, some are cannibals. And then there are the Hounds, summoning their own kind without breaking a sweat. Annoying, right?" I added with a touch of irritation.

She leaned in, her eyes probing for more insight. "So, humans have had access to my power for a thousand years. Shouldn't they be wiping the floor with these weak demons by now?" she questioned, her gaze still piercing.

I sighed, realizing I needed to clarify. "It's not that simple. Not all humans are capable of harnessing your power effectively. It's a selective process. Demon hunters, for instance, are chosen, trained, and infused with your energy. Others, not so much. So, while there are those wielding angelic might, it doesn't mean every human is on an equal playing field," I explained.

She gasped, her hand flying to cover her mouth in shock. A step backward followed as if she feared the revelation might somehow stain her celestial purity. "Not all of them are capable of harnessing my power? Oh my Goddess… Are they sinning too much?" she wondered.

"Some humans simply have different priorities," I added.

"But they don't know how to fight the demons, right? Then what do humans do in this world? Eat and breed? Aren't they afraid that demons will invade their world again?"

I cringed. "Well, not everyone is eager for a fight. Some humans are more focused on, you know, the basics... eating, breeding, the whole survival gig," I explained, gesturing with exaggerated simplicity. "And about the invasion fear, it's not exactly at the forefront of every human's mind. They have other concerns, like making a living, finding happiness, or, well, figuring out what to have for dinner," I added. "Well, that's why they took your holy power to make the vaccine," I continued.

She, however, seemed less concerned with the current scenario than with the historical context. "I know. But a long time ago, humans could fight demons even without the holy power of an angel. If they had a pact with an angel or received a blessing, they should be stronger than just casting Holy Blast," she reminded me.

"Well, the human world has changed now. There are a lot of things that humans can do, you know, with their brains. They invest more of their time and energy in developing their intelligence," I explained.

Her gaze remained skeptical. "Developing their intelligence," she repeated, as if tasting the words. The concept seemed foreign. "They develop their intelligence and pletely ignore that they have enemies drooling around for their flesh in the shadows?"

I scratched my head. "Well, they also make automated powerful secret weapons to kill demons if they need them," I added.

Her eyes narrowed, a focused scrutiny on me. "Has this weapon ever been used?" she asked, probing for specifics.

I hesitated briefly. "A couple of times. They used it on me," I admitted, bracing for her reaction.

"Did it hurt you?" she inquired further, her gaze penetrating.

'Uh oh... wrong move, Ethan,' I thought, grumbling internally.

Trying to downplay the situation, I offered an awkward grin and responded, "Uh… No. But it's quite strong for the human world."

She let out a long, exasperated breath. "Yeah, right. After a thousand years, they took my power, and this is all they can do with it. Just let me go quickly, it looks like I have to teach them," she vented in frustration.

"Teach them about?" I inquired, my eyes widening as a sudden realization crossed my mind. "Wait… You're not going to unleash your anger on them, right?" I blurted out.

"Anger? No, that's not what I mean," she clarified.

"Then what?" I pressed.

"I need to remind them of the power they hold and what they can achieve with it," she explained, her tone carrying a mix of determination and duty.
