Chapter 55 - Nostalgia Evoked By A Barbecued at
’What a pity! If only I had brought with so spices, then I might have been able to make an even more delicious barbecued at.’ Jiu Shen thought to himself with a bit of regret.
In barbecuing, there were a lot of factors involved in how to maximize the flavor of the at. For example, one could marinate the at using their desired marinade blend. Also, one could brush the at with their own homade sauce to add flavor to the at.
But Jiu Shen didn’t want to waste too much ti, hence, he skipped all those processes and just directly threw the at cubes in the Heaven Trampling Cauldron. Just that the final outco might not be too flavourful with the lack of spices and preparation. Nonetheless, the Horned Infernal Hound’s at was still a high-level ingredient after all, so its taste shouldn’t be too bad even without the addition of spices.
The skewered at cubes were now emitting a dense aroma as it sizzled under the intense heat from Jiu Shen’s wisp of black fla.
Though the black fla was just as small as a person’s thumb, it was hot enough to cook the Horned Infernal Hound’s at.
"The texture of a dog’s at is almost similar to a goat’s at, but the process of cooking the two is greatly different. The goat’s at is mildly gay so it needs a lot of preparation in order to lessen the earthly taste and sll in it. As for a dog’s at, it is surprisingly similar to beef in terms of taste. Just that dog at is chewier and not as succulent as beef." Jiu Shen muttered to himself as he recalled the skills and cooking knowledge that he had accumulated in his billions of years of life.
Jiu Shen flipped the skewered at cubes, making them produce another frizzling sound. A wave of beef-like aroma pervaded in the air as a dense white smoke lingered around the Heaven Trampling Cauldron.
One side of the skewered at cubes was already light brown in color. Jiu Shen knew what the color signified, so he remained ticulous in doing every process in barbecuing the at cubes.
"Master, is it already cooked?" Lu Sulan could not help but ask when the beefy sll of the Horned Infernal Hound’s cooked at reached her nostrils.
She had never tasted such high-quality at before, so she was sowhat eager to have a taste of it. Although she had already tasted the at of a 7th-rank Emperor realm savage beast, it was still a realm lower compared to the Horned Infernal Hound.
Jiu Shen did not glance at Lu Sulan and continued looking carefully at the skewered at cubes on the Heaven Trampling Cauldron. With an unhurried tone, he replied. "It’s almost cooked and it should be ready soon."
Lu Sulan involuntary gulped at her master’s words. She covered her nose and closed her eyes to free herself from the salivating feeling, but to no avail, her stomach still produced a faint rumbling sound.
Lu Sulan slightly opened her left eye to take a peek at Jiu Shen. She heaved a sigh of relief after seeing his sa neutral expression.
’That was so embarrassing! Good thing master is so focused on barbecuing the at.’ Lu Sulan’s ears reddened as she thought to herself.
Of course, with Jiu Shen’s sensitive senses, he heard his disciple’s complaining stomach, but he chose to ignore her and just imrsed himself in the cooking process. It was many millions of years ago since he had last barbecued at, so he was sowhat expectant about the result.
Jiu Shen gently poked the barbecued skewered at cubes. He disregarded the intense heat and checked the texture of the at to see if it was already cooked.
He nodded in satisfaction after feeling the softness of the at. "It’s done, but I have one last thing to do in order to add a bit of flavor to it."
With that, Jiu Shen took out another bottle of wine from his storage earring. This ti, it was not the Deep Sea Spring Dew, but the Ables Blanc.
The Ables Blanc may be many grades lower compared to the Deep Sea Spring Dew, but what Jiu Shen wanted to add on his skewered at was the oceanic taste of the Ables Oyster’s honey which was present in the Ables Blanc.
When Jiu Shen opened the bottle of Ables Blanc, an oceanic sll burst forth in the air. It lingered for a little while before it subsided.
Jiu Shen sprinkled drops of the Ables Blanc on the skewered at cubes in a relaxed manner.
He then kept the bottle of Ables Blanc and nodded his head with a satisfied look as he glanced at the cooked skewered at cubes in front of him.
He took them one by one and gave half of it to his disciple who was already drooling at the sidelines.
’This lady can sotis act like a little girl...’ He muttered in his heart after seeing the unladylike expression of his beautiful disciple.
Lu Sulan eagerly took the skewered at cubes from her master’s hands. She then held one stick of the skewered at cubes with one hand and gave it a light blow before she took a big bite out of it.
"Munch!"
Lu Sulan’s eyes widened when her tongue ca in contact with the at. She lightly chewed on the tender and soft at of the Horned Infernal Hound that was still smoking hot.
"Delicious! Although it tastes kinda earthly, but with the addition of master’s wines, the earthly taste could be hardly noticed." Lu Sulan exclaid as she munched on her piping hot skewered at cubes.
The at was surprisingly able to retain its juiciness despite the rough cooking procedure done. Furthermore, the sprinkles of Deep Sea Spring Dew and Ables Blanc made the skewered at even more aromatic and flavourful. The at had the oceanic sll of the Ables Oyster’s honey and also its own natural aty scent.
After taking a bite of the delicacy that he hadn’t tasted for countless years, Jiu Shen’s eyes flashed with a nostalgic look. His lips curved up to form a faint smile as he chewed on the at.
"Not bad." He said with a slightly emotional tone.
