"Reckless!" Su Yunjin spoke harshly.
The Prince loosened his grip on Su Yunjin’s wrist a little, but his gaze remained fixed on her. "Miss Su, could it be that this box of ointnt is what you intend to thank with?"
Before Su Yunjin could speak, the Prince tightened his grip on her wrist again. "Miss Su, I saved your life! Is this how you thank your savior?" His handso face suddenly lood closer to Su Yunjin, startling her into a frantic retreat as she tried to put so distance between them; they had been so close that Su Yunjin could almost sll the scent of sandalwood on the Prince.
Still shaken, Su Yunjin barely managed to hold onto her composure and looked at the Prince with so anger, "Your Highness, do not call Miss Su. I am married, so you should address as Lady Gu! Also, let go—" Her gaze fell to the Prince’s large hand clasping her wrist, and her voice lowered, "Release !"
Seeing that Su Yunjin was genuinely angry, the Prince dared not continue holding her wrist and slowly let go.
"Miss Su, I saved your life. If you truly wish to thank , I would..." The Prince’s gaze softened as he looked at Su Yunjin’s delicate face, unprecedented seriousness marking his handso features. Su Yunjin awkwardly averted her gaze, feeling entirely uncomfortable under the Prince’s intense scrutiny.
Noticing Su Yunjin’s evasiveness, the Prince changed his tone, adding a touch of irony, "Miss Su, if you think a re box of ointnt settles your debt to , then I must apologize, Miss Su, please take it back! I won’t accept it." The Prince’s expression was indifferent as he made no move to take the ointnt from Su Yunjin’s hand.
Su Yunjin withdrew her hand; if the Prince didn’t want it, then so be it. This ointnt was not sothing she necessarily had to give the Prince. A few days ago, it was true that the Prince had saved her life, but Su Yunjin did not feel she owed him anything special because of it. Ultimately, the whole situation stemd from the Prince—if not for him, how would she have been involved with Leng Jingxian and Leng Yong?
"Your Highness, I admit you’re my savior, but if not for you, why would Miss Leng and the Leng Residence guards want to kill ? I had no enmity with them; it was all because of you. Because of you, I beca entangled with those two and was pursued and frad!" Even Leng Jingxian, that madwoman, had targeted Little Tiangua, a re child. Little Tiangua was not yet half a year old, barely a month or two since birth, and still, Leng Jingxian showed no rcy!
Recollecting how Little Tiangua narrowly escaped being poisoned by Leng Jingxian, Su Yunjin was thankful for her dical skills that allowed her to tily detect the anomaly. Had she not known dicine or been as observant, Little Tiangua might not have survived. Having vented her words at the Prince in one breath, even the Prince appeared montarily taken aback.
With a chilly smile, Su Yunjin continued, "Your Highness, because of you, I now dare not step outside. Because of you, I must remain constantly vigilant. Do you really think I should still be grateful to you?"
The Prince was lost for words.
The Prince had initially wanted to argue that Leng Jingxian’s actions had nothing to do with him, that he hadn’t been aware of her deeds, nor had he instructed her to act. However, as Su Yunjin pointed out, Leng Jingxian had co along with him and did those things because of him, so denying any connection now felt sowhat strained even to himself.
Thus, the Prince chose not to argue further.
