The villagers of the Gu Family village were still buzzing with gossip, all of them branding Feng Qiaoqiao as shaless. Despite feeling embarrassed, ng Da hesitated for a mont but still proceeded to speak.
"Big brother Gu, I apologize for the recent incident, it was my rashness. Without clarifying the truth of the matter, Xiaolian and I rashly ca looking and even spoke rudely to your wife. It was wrong of Xiaolian and ."
ng Da was sincerely apologizing.
ng Da and Gu Ya had been schoolmates, and their friendship was rather good. Everyone was sworn brothers, so there were certainly bonds between them.
Now that it was clear that what Feng Qiaoqiao did was indeed her own fault, ng Da no longer sought justice for his cousin but instead apologized to Gu Ya for his own mistake.
It was unexpected for Su Yunjin that ng Da suddenly apologized. She had equated ng Da and his wife with the worst sort automatically.
She had never thought ng Da would apologize to her and her husband, Gu Ya. Su Yunjin was imnsely surprised, while Gu Ya just stared at ng Da without saying a word.
Knowing that he and his wife were at fault in today’s matters, ng Da, after apologizing, saw that neither Su Yunjin nor her husband Gu Ya had said anything.
He then tugged at Fan Xiaolian’s sleeve.
"Xiaolian, co here, apologize to Big brother Gu and his wife." ng Da asked Fan Xiaolian to apologize, and she too felt regretful after learning that her cousin had been in the wrong.
All because her cousin hadn’t made things clear.
Now she had made a fool of herself and her husband at the Su Family’s expense.
Fan Xiaolian glanced at Gu Ya, then at Su Yunjin. Although Fan Xiaolian wanted to apologize, she simply couldn’t swallow her pride.
Twisting and turning, Fan Xiaolian did not move or speak.
ng Da tugged at Fan Xiaolian again.
"You woman, when told to apologize, why are you just standing there? If it weren’t for your cousin, we wouldn’t have co here today and made such a fool of ourselves at Big brother Gu’s ho."
ng Da and Fan Xiaolian, having lost Su Yunjin’s favor, it didn’t matter to her whether they apologized or not.
Now all Su Yunjin wanted was to send these two away after such a commotion; she was tired. "Brother ng, since you and your wife now understand the truth of the matter, isn’t it ti for you two to go back?" Dismissing these two would restore peace.
Su Yunjin had no desire to continue seeing these two.
She couldn’t wait to send them off.
"Sister-in-law, we truly apologize for today’s incident, and we hope that you and Big brother could forgive us this once. We were ignorant of the truth, which led to our foolish actions," ng Da did not want to lose Gu Ya, his sworn brother, not only because of their past friendships but also for his own vested interests. Gu Ya now had connections with the Prince Qi Residence.
If he and Gu Ya continued to be brothers, it might well be that Gu Ya could lend him a hand in the future. These past years, ng Da had been studying, aspiring for a career in civil service.
Passing the imperial examination was one thing, but to rise rapidly, one still needed connections in the Imperial Court. And Gu Ya could be the easiest support he could lean on. With a brother like Gu Ya, why worry that the Prince Qi Residence and the Prince Rui Residence wouldn’t help him?
Fan Xiaolian was always reluctant to apologize.
ng Da had no choice but to make eye signals to Fan Xiaolian.
Fan Xiaolian wasn’t dull — seeing ng Da signaling to her continuously, she finally walked over, reluctantly apologizing to Su Yunjin and her husband Gu Ya.
