Chapter 725: Chapter 653, Big Brother Gets Married_1 Chapter 725: Chapter 653, Big Brother Gets Married_1 “Miss, we are about to enter the city gate.”
In the carriage, Daohua, wearing a plain aquamarine silk dress, was resting with her eyes closed. Hearing Wang Manman’s reminder, she opened her eyes.
Wang Manman broke the silence with a smile, “I’ve heard that the Han Family’s wedding procession has been in town for several days now. The eldest madam’s dowry filled several joyous boats. It truly befits the daughter of an Earl Residence, such grandeur.”
Upon hearing this, Daohua smiled and then sighed sentintally, “Ti really flies. In two days, my elder brother will be getting married.”
Hearing this, Wang Manman and Bi Shi exchanged glances and suppressed their giggles.
Daohua looked up, “What are you two laughing about?”
Wang Manman responded with a smile, “We were just thinking that you got married even earlier than the elder master.”
At that, Daohua glared at the two of them, “What happened last ti with Xiao Yeyang was just a matter of convenience.”
Wang Manman and Bi Shi chuckled, “In the future, the young master will surely make up the formal wedding docunts and gifts to you.”
Daohua frowned, “Don’t talk about young masters or whatever. Don’t call it that, it would be bad if soone overheard.”
Just about to say more, the carriage suddenly shook violently. Wang Manman and Bi Shi, caught off guard, tumbled down inside the carriage, crashing heavily into the seats.
Quick to react, Daohua grabbed the window fra and was unhard.
The coachman, a Yan Family bodyguard skilled in so martial arts, quickly regained control of the carriage.
At this point, Daohua asked, “What happened?”
The coachman promptly replied, “A few child beggars ran out from the alley just now, startling the opposite carriage. To avoid a collision, I had to pull back the reins.”
Hearing this, Daohua lifted a corner of the carriage curtain and peeked outside.
The coachman from the opposite carriage grabbed a child beggar as if wanting to strike him, but suddenly, a ‘cough’ ca from the carriage, and then, reluctantly, the coachman let the child go.
Soon after, the coachman received instructions to let Daohua’s carriage go first.
As the two carriages passed by each other, Daohua caught a faint sll of blood but, not wanting to ddle, quickly lowered the curtain.
Once the carriage had covered so distance, and considering that Ningn Prefecture was under her father’s jurisdiction and fearing an incidence, Daohua extended her hand out the carriage window and motioned with her fingers.
Shortly after, Yan Ying appeared silently beside the carriage.
“Miss, do you have any orders?”
“Follow the carriage we just passed and see who they are.”
Yan Ying nodded and vanished into the crowd in the blink of an eye, as if she had never been there.
After giving the instructions, Daohua didn’t dwell on it much, and soon, they reached the Yan Residence.
Having been away from ho for several months, Daohua was quite hosick. Upon returning, she went straight to the old madam’s courtyard and chatted with her family for most of the day, only returning to her own courtyard at dusk.
“Why hasn’t Yan Ying co back yet?”
After freshening up and seeing that it was getting dark, yet Yan Ying hadn’t returned, Daohua couldn’t help but knit her brows. “Could sothing have happened?”
Considering that Yan Ying was skilled in martial arts, Daohua temporarily suppressed her concern and stepped out to dine in the old madam’s courtyard.
After dinner, while the Yan Family was discussing the marriage details of Yan Wenxiu the day after tomorrow, Wang Manman subtly nodded at Daohua.
Knowing that Yan Ying had returned, Daohua felt relieved. She sat for a while longer, then left with everyone else when people started to disperse.
“Why did it take you so long?”
As soon as she returned to her courtyard, Daohua had Wang Manman bring Yan Ying to see her.
Yan Ying spoke gravely, “Miss, the person you had follow today is associated with the Eight Princes Party. I stayed longer to observe, which is why I returned late.”
Daohua’s eyes widened, “Eight Princes Party, are you sure?”
Yan Ying nodded.
Daohua frowned, “Weren’t all the mbers of the Eight Princes Party in Zhongzhou, Fenxi, and Jiguang provinces eradicated by Xiao Yeyang and his people? How could there be any who slipped through?”
As she spoke, she paused.
“If you weren’t caught, why didn’t you leave imdiately? Why did you brazenly show up at Ningn Prefecture?”
Yan Ying replied, “Miss, when I returned, I found that the Jiang Family seed to be secretly searching for soone.”
Daohua: “Are you suggesting that the Jiang Family is searching for mbers of the Eight Princes Party?”
Yan Ying nodded, “Among the two people I was tracking today, one of them was severely wounded, possibly at the hands of the Jiang Family.”
Daohua thought for a mont, “Where is that mber of the Eight Princes Party now?”
Yan Ying: “When I returned, I saw them hiding in the mountains. I was worried that continuing to track them would lead to my discovery, so I ca back to report first.”
Daohua thought for a while and said, “Go to the new residence and find Deshou. Tell him what you’ve found, and he’ll handle it.”
Yan Ying nodded. Deshou could contact the Jinling Guard, who indeed was better suited to capturing mbers of the Eight Princes Party.
The next day at noon, Yan Ying ca to tell Daohua that the two people had died.
Daohua frowned, “How did they die?”
Yan Ying: “Killed by the Jiang Family.”
Daohua fell into deep thought, “The Jiang Family secretly kills mbers of the Eight Princes Party instead of handing them over to the Imperial Court for rit. It seems there is so ambiguity between the Jiang Family and the Eight Princes.”
Yan Ying nodded, “Deshou said the sa.”
Daohua didn’t say much more, waved her hand to dismiss Yan Ying, and then threw herself into the preparations for her older brother’s upcoming wedding.
Just when it was thought that the matter had ended, on the day of Yan Wenxiu’s wedding, Yan Ying ca again with the news, “The Jiang Family was attacked by assassins last night. Deshou said that it seed the assassins were looking for sothing.”
Daohua’s eyes narrowed slightly, “Looking for sothing? Could it be that those two people left sothing behind?” After a pause, she added, “This is not sothing we can handle. Let Deshou take care of it.”
Upon hearing this, Yan Ying did not say more and quickly vanished from sight.
At that mont, the noise outside announced the arrival of the groom to bring in the bride!
Daohua smiled and entered the wedding hall, standing next to Yan Yihuan and her two siblings, watching the newlyweds complete their bows and enter the bridal chamber. She then followed behind Madam Li to help entertain the guests.
Busy until midnight and having seen off the guests, Daohua dragged her tired body back to her own courtyard.
“Getting married really is exhausting!”
Thinking back to her own hasty and simple wedding with Xiao Yeyang, Daohua felt sowhat lost in thought. Looking up at the moon in the sky, she couldn’t help but think of Xiao Yeyang, “I wonder how Xiao Yeyang and my two brothers are doing at the Northern Frontier?”
Wang Manman laughed and picked up the conversation, “Your husband and the third and fourth masters are so capable, they must be fine. Maybe they’ve even earned more rits.”
Daohua sighed, “Earning rits is secondary, but I hope they don’t get injured.”
After having washed up, Daohua lay down on the bed. Perhaps because she was too tired, she fell asleep not long after.
The next day, the Yan Family all gathered early in the old lady’s courtyard, waiting to et the new bride.
After Daohua arrived, she didn’t have to wait long before she saw her older brother leading a young woman in red over.
“The sister-in-law is really beautiful.”
Yan Yihuan murmured among themselves, comnting on the bride.
Daohua examined her carefully. The second Miss of the Han Family indeed had a fine appearance, but what stood out the most was not her beauty but her deanor—dignified and serene, clearly well-cultured.
Daohua glanced at her older brother again. Gentle and refined, the pair stood together in perfect harmony. Seeing her brother’s relaxed expression, she thought he must be quite satisfied with his wife.
Then ca the formal tea ceremony for the bride to pay her respects.
Now a mother-in-law, Madam Li didn’t make things difficult for the bride and showed no intention of laying down rules, simply expressing her hopes for the bride to bring forth descendants for the Yan Family soon.
Han Xinran imdiately felt relieved at her mother-in-law’s accommodating nature. After respectfully offering tea to the elders, she also distributed needlework she had done herself to her new siblings.
Daohua looked at the scent pouch in her hand and said with a smile, “Sister-in-law’s needlework is really lovely. If we sisters ever have any questions in the future, you must teach us more.”
Han Xinran imdiately nodded with a smile, “I didn’t do that well, but if my sisters-in-law fancy it, just co and ask anyti.”
Yan Yihuan chid in, “Then we’ll definitely be troubling our sister-in-law in the future.”
With an easy-going mother-in-law and understanding sisters-in-law, Han Xinran finally relaxed completely, casting a shy smile at her husband, Yan Wenxiu.
