DAVINA
I paced around the living area, with my heart throbbing in its cage.
I was in turmoil, as I hadn’t gotten to speak about myself to the boys, and now this? The conspiracy about their mother’s death had resurfaced so suddenly.
"How do we certify this is true?" I stopped, as my eyes narrowed on the boys.
Shawn bit on his lips as he sank on the couch, "There is no way we can ascertain that. The source didn’t reveal itself, so we can’t go after anyone."
"But..." Ethan frowned. "What if this is just a ploy to discredit Darius? Think about it..."
He sat beside Shawn while Uriel and I crowded around them, "Darius saved Davina and helped us escape the pack."
"If he harbored such ill intention toward us, this wouldn’t happen right?"
"Tsk!" I clicked my tongue almost imdiately but it was Seraphine in control now. "How can you be so dumb to just trust anyone?"
Their heads snapped in my direction, with their brows raised in surprise.
"When...did you get so sassy..." Uriel was surprised, but there was a fleeting look of admiration in his eyes.
And I flicked my hair, sashaying my waist to sit on another couch, while I crossed my legs.
My finger pointed at them in warning, "Trust yourselves, not soone who seems like an ally. He could be honest, but it wouldn’t be so bad to be guarded, would it?"
"You are right." Ethan nodded.
"From now on, we will keep an eye on both Darius and everyone else in this Pack."
We were in tacit agreent, and we spent the rest of the night speaking about our safety. I told them about the eting with the Alpha and how I was going to et him the next day.
"You all are coming with , right?"
___
The next day...
High-end clothes had been provided to us when Darius appeared at the door with a smile on his face.
However, I had a hard ti keeping up with my calm attitude toward him as Seraphine wouldn’t stop snarling in my mind, as she wanted to claw at his face.
"Aren’t you going to take a rest?" I snapped.
"I can’t!" She huffed.
"The thought that he could do sothing to us in the future makes want to slit his throat!"
"But it’s not confird yet." I gritted my teeth as I slipped into the car. But she wouldn’t stop trying to rein in, to screech in Darius’ face.
And I eventually snapped, "Why don’t you put yourself to good use?"
"What?"
Imdiately, I ratted my mouth at her with my fists clenched, "Can you try recalling your mories with Ciara?"
"Then we can head sowhere and if Darius is an enemy, you can claw at his face anyhow you wish!"
But the minute I finished my words, I realized how insensitive I was. She had quickly gone quiet, as if my words had stabbed her straight in the chest.
"Seraphine?" I called out.
"You shouldn’t say that." Her voice was shaky, for the first ti.
"I am sorry..."
I knew it wasn’t entirely her fault that she couldn’t recall what happened. But it had to be sowhere inside her, right?
"Are you ready?" Darius got into the car and tapped my arm, with his brows raised.
I swallowed, as my chest clenched, "No..."
"My...my mates are coming."
"Huh?" Darius’s brows creased and at that mont, I studied every inch of him. However, he wasn’t unusual like last night.
"You don’t have a problem with that, right?"
"Of course not..." He shook his head as he rested in his seat. "They can co too, since you want them there. I spoke to the Alpha last night, and he won’t act out of line."
"After the eting, we can go straight to the Pack’s high school. You all must at least complete your education."
"Ohh..." I raised a brow, intrigued as I realized he had thought that far.
"Thank you. I am sure the boys will be glad."
But then, I wondered if it was his thoughtfulness or was there a trap there waiting for us?
The boys quickly got into the car and we zood off straight to the Alpha mansion. It was grand, just like Diego’s mansion but then it paled in comparison just a bit.
As soon as the car stopped, several guards rushed out to welco us but then, I was a bit awkward.
"They didn’t have to—"
"Let’s go." Shawn took my hand and walked to the forefront alongside the brothers.
"You don’t refuse treatnts like this when you are given. You ought to walk like you own the place, Davina."
He whispered in my ears, as we reached the entrance, and the unease inside , the discomfort seeped out of .
"Do you think I deserve such treatnt?"
"Why don’t you?" The side of his lips raised slightly. "You are queen, you know? Our queen and the world’s queen."
As my cheeks turned rounder, and rosier I did my best to hide the sheepish smile on my face as we walked into the eting room.
Alpha Damian was right there, waiting for but the smile on his face vanished when he saw the brothers behind us.
"I see you brought company..."
"Yes..." I stretched my hands to my mates. "You can say they are my bodyguards. Don’t mind them."
"Bodyguards?" Damian chuckled. "I must say you have good taste. What price must you have paid to have such Alpha bodyguards?"
"Well..." I glanced at the boys, with a fleeting look of pride in my eyes. "Let’s say I gave them what no one could."
"And what is that?" He leaned closer, his curiosity piqued.
But I leaned further into my chair, as I folded my arms, "Why don’t we start what we are here for, Alpha?"
"What proposition do you have for ?"
"Sure!" He tapped his fingers on his table as his gaze turned serious.
He glanced at the boys again, before turning to look in the eye, "I must say, I was amazed when I realized the blood wolf turned out to be soone so young."
He leaned on the table with his hands folded. His broad shoulders seed to loom over , as his aura encompassed the room.
"Added to that, you aren’t from the Blood Moon Pack."
"Is that supposed to be a problem?"
"Of course..." He nodded. "Darius didn’t tell you?"
"About?"
"A Blood wolf is native to the Blood Moon Pack. Aren’t you going to wonder why you ended up in Diego’s territory?"
"Can you recall that? Or do all your mories from childhood surround that place?"
My brows creased, "Do you an sothing happened that I don’t know about?"
"Bingo!" He clicked his fingers. "You are smart."
"Wouldn’t you want to know what happened? The Blood Moon Pack has been waiting for the new blood wolf, but it turned out that Diego had her all this ti."
"Isn’t this a conspiracy? Wouldn’t you want to find your origin? What if that bastard had ruined your family, your parents, maybe?"
"I found out your father was gone—"
"Enough!"
I slamd my fists on the desk, as my chest heaved. When Alpha Damian spoke, I saw the chill in his eyes as he wanted to instill fear inside . Fear of the unknown and the past.
However, he spoke of my father, and I couldn’t take it.
"What do you want? Say it! We don’t need to revisit the past!"
His lips curled, and without hesitation, he continued, "I am sure you want to dig your claws in Diego’s throat."
"You are the blood wolf, I know just how much you can be vengeful."
"Ohh, so, you used to know ?" Seraphine slithered to the surface as my eyes flashed. "Can you tell what I was like? With the previous person?"
"What was Ciara like?"
"Ciara?" Uriel stepped forward, but I held my hand out to him.
"Speak!" I stared down at Damian.
"Too bad..." He shrugged. "I can’t, except you work with ."
"What do you want?"
"I want Diego’s territory and you want to punish him to stay safe. We are two peas in a pod. All we need to do is to uncover your origin, your birth secrets, and create a crack in that bastard’s territory."
"Do you understand?"
"How can I trust you?" I raised a brow.
But then, he laughed, "I assure you, you can’t trust anyone aside from in this Pack."
"Anyone..." He pressed.
My mind imdiately went straight to Darius and my heart skipped a beat. This was getting complicated with everyone having their motive, their agenda.
But Alpha Damian seed to be the only honest person here. He didn’t hide his greed or hatred toward Diego, he said it so brazenly.
The boys and I stord out of the mansion, in turmoil without giving an answer to Alpha Damian. But we carried heavy doubts and they all had their eyes on in question.
"Why did you ntion Ciara? She is our mother, right?"
I opened my mouth to speak, but then Darius stepped out.
"What about Ciara?"
