SHAWN

Darius glanced at , and then back at the streets with a cautious gaze.

And then he asked, "When did you get a mate? Are you playing right now?"

"I guess you don’t know everything about , after all." My lips raised in a mocking sneer. "Ti is ticking, are you going to help or not?"

He shook his head, as he started to pace around with his hands on his hips.

"You want to save your mate? How about your brothers?"

"They are fine with it," I said calmly.

"What do you an?" He stopped, as his eyes narrowed slightly. And then it clicked, "You all have the sa mate?"

"Yes." I nodded.

"What the hell..." His shock was evident, however, over the top with a dramatic heave.

I rolled my eyes, before resting on the wall again, "So if you want to see them, help . I was sent here to get her anyway and I’m not going back, until I get her."

"Fine!" He relented. "But are you sure she is at the mansion?"

"Yes. From what I heard, she was captured by the Alpha."

"That bastard!" Darius seethed, and his fists clenched tightly. "He doesn’t even know who to go after anymore."

"Quick! Let’s go!"

He held again, but this ti I didn’t pull away. As we sneaked around the streets, I realized he possessed great stealth and sharp eyes that could catch anything from miles away.

My doubts about him had started to dissipate, but then I wondered where he had been when the Alpha abused my brothers and . He said he had been watching over us, but why?

To see us suffer?

Before long, we arrived at the mansion which was heavily guarded, and hawk-like eyes were at every inch.

We stayed a long distance away from the gates, while Darius pushed into a corner, "You need to stay back."

"I will go there, myself."

I held him, "Wait."

"How would you know who she is? Let go with you—"

"No way!" He snapped. "Do you think you are good just because you stopped bleeding?"

He eyed with a mocking sneer, "One punch from those guards and you will be hugging the Moon Goddess!"

My lips twitched, as I wanted to curse him out but I held back my fury.

"Her na is Davina. I don’t know how you are going to find her, but..."

I gave him a detailed description of my girl and as I watched him sneak around the walls of the mansion, I held myself back from going after him.

I didn’t want to trust him with my girl. But this was my only hope. For the first ti, in a long while, I clasped my hands, looking up at the sky and praying to the Goddess.

There were days I was convinced she had turned her back on my brothers and . But today, I needed her to move mountains like the legends had said.

Even though I didn’t care about Darius that much, I would die of guilt if he perished in there.

And then I waited, sinking to the floor and trying to save my last strength. Maybe we would need to abscond and run for miles the mont he was out.

An hour passed and he wasn’t here.

But then, I heard footsteps and soon, I saw soone standing before . I looked up slowly, and at that mont, my stomach dipped.

However, I dared not show my fear. He wouldn’t get that reaction out of , ever.

"You ca..." He sank to my level, as his lips curled with venom dripping from his eyes and I could see myself in those wicked eyes.

The resemblance I had to my father irked to the bones.

"I didn’t co for you..." I hissed.

"I know..." He waved his hand. "You ca for that tiny weeny girl. And you sent that scrawny bastard to get her?"

"I must say, you are so brave."

"Where is she?" I asked, as my teeth gritted and my fists dug into the dusty floor. "What did you do to him?"

"Nothing much..." He chuckled. "I put him to rest, a little. Did you think he was going to get past my defenses?"

My chest tightened as my body twitched uncontrollably. But he wouldn’t stop talking.

"He spilled everything to the minute I wrapped my claws around his neck—"

"You bastard!" My hands moved, going for his neck.

But he was faster. His hand morphed and his sharp claws dug into my neck and blood dripped. I beca pale, losing even more blood when I hadn’t healed.

"You are too slow..." He sneered.

"Too slow?" I snapped. "You only got lucky...because I’m injured. I would have ripped out your second eye!"

"Ahh..." He gasped and he seethed, with a deep voice that ignited fear. "You boys took my eye and I am going to gouge your eyes. Three pairs from you brats will make up for my lost eye."

"So..." He tightened his grip, "Where are your brothers? I don’t see them."

I grinned, even though air was leaving my lungs so fast I could hardly see the light. Even if I had to die, I would never let him get to them.

"If you want my brothers so bad..." I struggled to speak, while my eyes kept flashing. "Find...find them yourself."

"You fucking monster—"

Pak!

My face flung to the side as his palm collided with my cheek, stinging and throbbing with pain. He finally let go, and I slipped to the floor while I let out a strained cough from deep within as I struggled to breathe.

"I could kill you right now, brat. Don’t you care about that? Are you going to sacrifice yourself for your brothers?"

At this mont, even the thought of death brought peace.

"Answer !"

"The thought of being like you, father, disgusts . I am not a selfish bastard."

"Alright then..." He nodded as his tongue darted out to lick his lips. He was ready to devour. "Then die..."

It was all pressure, for to speak, however, I would gladly help him. As he grabbed my neck, I held his hands tighter, forcing the air out of my lungs again.

But then...swish!

Like a flash, a shadow shot through and he was down to the floor.
