"Kai, are you sure this is necessary? I don’t think this is safe."
"You’re worrying too much, Erald. You’ll be fine, I’m protecting you. Besides, the demonic beast is literally called the woman-eating fish. What better way to draw it out by using a woman as bait?"
Kai was currently dangling Erald over a large pool of purple sludge water. It looked like one of Gwen’s concoctions, but Kai would never say that out loud. Erald had so rope wrapped around her entire body and was tied to a stick, emulating a fishing line.
"K-Kai! The water is bubbling!"
Kai looked down and saw that the water was indeed bubbling. He smiled and prepared to reel Erald in.
"Get ready, the fish is coming!"
"You better be fast with your hands, because if I die, I’m gonna fucking kill you!"
"Whoa, I never thought I would hear a curse word co out of your mouth." He laughed
"Well, when you’re being used as bait and could die, you tend not to care about sothing as little as curse words and just blurt them out as if they were your fucking spit!"
"Haha, it’s okay, babe, with here, what’s the worst that could happen?"
"Umm, I don’t know, how about that fish eating alive?!"
"Erald, you’re going to carry my child one day. No way I would let you DIE!" He yanked Erald back onto land as the massive fish jumped out of the purple water, missing its womanly snack.
The fish was the size of a building with sharp scales, big ass lips, yellow eyes, and super sharp jagged teeth.
"Is that a blubber fish but demonic? Pwahahaha! It’s even uglier in this world, too. Reminds of Leo. ARGGGHHHHHH!!!!" He was struck by lightning.
"Fucking bitch. Anyway, ti to due you, woman-eating fish. HYPER-ECCENTRIC-ULTRA-GREAT-GIGA-EXTRE-HYPER ONE MORE TI-AMAZING PUNCH!"
Kai’s fist slamd into the fish’s scales, shattering them like glass. The sheer power of his punch completely evicerated the fish, leaving nothing behind except its core.
"That was disgusting," Erald grumbled as she took the ropes off her body.
"Yeah, but you have to admit that it was also pretty fun."
"Sure, sure, using as bait is fun. And what do you an, I’ll be carrying your child one day?! We’re not married!"
Kai stepped forward, his arm around her waist and his fingers under her chin. He raised her head and gave her a loving, affectionate, passionate kiss, one that made Erad’s heart skip so many beats that she nearly passed out.
"Wha..Wha...Wha...Wha...What was that for?!" She asked, waving her hands sporadically with a flushed expression.
"I like you, and you’re mine. I won’t let anyone take you from either. Beiseds, would you rather marry that oaf, or ?" He smirked
"Y-You." She replied in a very low tone.
Kai still heard it thanks to his super senses.
"How long have we been here? A few hours already?" He wondered
"I think it’s been around five hours. This field trip ends around the ti our night classes start, so we have a few more hours to go." She inford him.
"Cool. Let’s head back and take a small break."
"Thank you! I’ve been asking you that for the past three hours!"
"No, you haven’t. All you said was ’My arms are sore’. That’s all. Sore arms don’t an you’re tired."
She felt insulted. "Ah, seriously! I was positive you could take the hint!"
"Sorry, I’m not a mind reader. Wait, actually, I am. Hahaha!"
---
Back where the students first entered the scarred valley, their professor set up a camp for everyone to co back to when they needed to take breaks, get more equipnt, or needed the professor’s help.
But when Kai and Erald arrived back at the camp, it was completely demolished, with only a few tents up and a ton of injured students. So were even dead.
"What the fuck happened here?!" Kai and Erald rushed to aid everyone, and he cast a wide-range healing spell that tended to everyone’s wounds instantly.
"M-My leg! It grew back!"
"Ah, that feels better. My chest no longer hurts."
"My eyes! I can see!"
"Kai! Erald! Thank goodness you’re okay!" One of the teacher assistants rushed over to them to check their condition.
"What happened here?" Erald asked.
"A-A demon ca and started attacking us! H-He said he was looking for you, Kai."
Kai was confused. He didn’t know why a demon would be looking for him. "Did he explain why he was looking for ?"
"N-No, he didn’t. He only talked about how you will get in their way and wanted to nip the bud before it blood."
"I don’t swing that way, tell him I’ll pass."
"What?"
"Nothing. Do you know where he went?"
"The professor and Aaron drove him away from the campsite, they’re sowhere around-"
A massive explosion rocked the area, forcing people off their feet and causing a rockslide that earth mages managed to take care of. A large mushroom cloud could be seen off in the distance, clearly the place where the fight was taking place, so Kai took off there.
"Let’s help everyone here. We need to get away as quickly as possible."
Erald and the teacher assistant went to rally all the students.
When Kai made it to the battlefield, he saw a beaten-up Aaron and a barely holding on professor.
The professor was holding back a torrent of what looked to be purple slush water, the sa water the woman-eating fish swam in.
"A-Aaron! G-Get away! I can’t hold this barrier forever." The professor pleaded.
"N-No way." He relocated his dislocated shoulder, swuriling it around to see if it was good to go.
"I’m going to kill this bastard for looking down on and bring honor to my family."
"Such childish reasoning. Die, disgusting human." Franklin shot a jet of purple water toward Aaron’s head, but Kai stepped in and blocked it.
’I was just going to let him die, but Nadya should have that satisfaction.’
"K-Kai?!" The professor had no idea where Kai had co from, but he was glad to see him. Nearly every professor knew how powerful he was, according to his application, of course.
"Get out of my way, man. I’m going to kill that demon! I won’t hesitate to-"
Kai backhanded Aaron all the way back to the camp, knocking him out in the process.
"Go." He told the professor.
He nodded and ran away.
"Kai LuForia, the next Hero of Gracia. It will be an honor to kill you. My na is Franklin Fisherman."
"Heh, Franklin? More like Deadklin!"
Franklin didn’t understand Kai’s joke.
"Yeah, don’t laugh, it’s fine. It wasn’t that funny anyway. Okay, listen here, you fish. Don’t expect to-"
A high-pressure stream of purple water slamd right into Kai’s face without warning.
"Humans and their arrogance. Always talking but never acting. What a disappointnt." Frankling shook his head and turned to walk away.
"I’m sorry, but was that supposed to do sothing?"
Franklin’s eyes widened in horror. His attack could shred through any defense, and the water itself was corrosive. Yet the most damage it did to Kai was just piss him off.
Kai didn’t like being interrupted when he was being cool. So, after pushing his wet hair back, he stared into Franklin’s eyes with a cold, murderous expression.
"Now you’re really dead, Franklin."
