Chapter 22: Chapter 022: Please Do Not Drive Dangerously

The man cycling ahead seed to let out an imperceptible sigh, then he braked and stopped.

Qi Yue: “What’s wrong?”

Gu Huai, with one long leg obliquely resting on the ground to balance the bike, said: “Get off and walk for a bit, it’s dark, cycling isn’t safe.”

Dark?

Aren’t these street lamps quite bright?

Although Qi Yue thought this, she obediently hopped off the bike.

“Okay!”

Safety is indeed important, one can’t drive dangerously.

After all, their school had quite a lot of small animals, which could dart out at any mont…

Thus, the two of them, one pushing the bike and the other holding a milk tea, walked side by side at a leisurely pace.

After a while, Qi Yue suddenly rembered the important matter, “Hey, didn’t you say Professor Shen was looking for ? Shouldn’t we walk faster? Otherwise, what if we make him anxious waiting…”

“Sorry, I saw that you didn’t seem very keen on talking with those people, so I made up an excuse on the spot to take you away,” Gu Huai explained.

“Ah! So that’s why…”

After hearing this, Qi Yue imdiately felt a sense of loss, but she was also quite surprised—she didn’t expect Gu Huai to be so kind-hearted and to help her out of a bind.

“Thank you! I really didn’t want to interact with them too much, so I didn’t go to the class reunion tonight. I didn’t expect to run into them just by going out to buy food…” Qi Yue expressed her thanks.

“Don’t ntion it.” Gu Huai’s night-like gaze slowly fell upon her as he casually spoke, “How do you know him?”

Qi Yue: “Huh?”

Gu Huai: “The person that girl ntioned.”

Qi Yue: “Are you talking about Chu Mufan?”

Qi Yue fell silent for a while, seemingly lost in mories, and after a long mont she murmured, “I t him in high school… He was my classmate…”

“High school…” Gu Huai paused, “Why did you like him?”

Qi Yue scratched her head and laughed, “Why does adolescent love need so many reasons? Maybe there was a mont when my heart fluttered, and just like that, I liked him…”

In fact, this was a rather personal question. She and Gu Huai weren’t very close, and since it related to girlish sentints, she felt sowhat embarrassed to say too much.

The evening breeze gently blew, with a few twinkling stars faintly visible overhead, and the dappled shadows of the trees on either side concealed all expressions.

Perhaps the night made people more sentintal and more likely to let down their guard; Qi Yue sighed and continued, “Actually, it was what you could call a first love, but it was only one-sided on my part. After I graduated from high school, I confessed to him… and I was rejected…”

Gu Huai glanced toward the girl’s direction, “Why?”

Gu Huai didn’t seem to be simply asking; rather, his tone suggested that he thought she shouldn’t have been rejected…

Qi Yue cleared her throat and said, “Why else would it be? He rejected because he wasn’t interested in . But I guess because we were quite close and familiar, he didn’t want to reject too harshly. He just told he was going to study abroad…”

“What about now?”

“Now?”

“Do you still like him?”

“…” Qi Yue was taken aback.

She had never really thought about that question.

Qi Yue pondered for a mont and then spread her hands, “Who knows? After I graduated from high school, we never saw each other again. It’s been such a long ti, and if it weren’t for Qi Zhen bringing it up today, I probably would have forgotten about it…”

“Forgotten?” Gu Huai, hearing this, slightly raised his eyebrows as a reminder, “When you heard that na, you grabbed my waist.”

Qi Yue suddenly coughed awkwardly, “Sorry about that, it wasn’t intentional… Just suddenly hearing it, there’s still so emotional fluctuations, you know… After all, when I confessed back then, I spent a month’s living expenses to buy him a watch!”

Gu Huai’s eyes imperceptibly flickered for a mont: “Oh, you even gave him a watch…”
