The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan! Chapter 54: Hitting Someone
His charm ans nothing to Paige Sterling!
"Big bro, don’t tell your wife still hasn’t fallen for your physique yet?"
Julian Hawthorne remained silent instead of answering.
Simon Hawthorne wanted to laugh hysterically, but to avoid hurting Julian, he suppressed it, "Looks like your wife really isn’t into you. They say a forced lon won’t be sweet. Maybe you should give up. She might prefer soone like instead..."
When he saw Julian’s stern gaze, Simon couldn’t continue his boasting.
"Big bro, physical pleasure cos from ntal connection. If she’s not interested in your physique, it ans she doesn’t connect with you ntally. In other words, she doesn’t like you at all. You need to first make her like you..."
Living together but still not having won Paige Sterling’s heart, his big brother was really failing in the relationship departnt!
"What should I do?"
Julian looked at Simon, waiting for him to co up with a good idea.
But he quickly realized he had overestimated this foolish brother of his.
"Alright, big bro, here’s what you do: go out, find a car, and let it hit you..."
Feeling Julian’s terrifying gaze, Simon quickly added, "Just pretend to get hit, take so videos or photos, and send them to Paige. If she hears about your accident and gets anxious to find you, it ans you still have a chance. If she doesn’t care much, then you should give up early..."
Simon thought he had co up with a great idea, waiting for praise from his brother.
After waiting for a while, he heard Julian’s chilly two words.
"Ha ha."
Simon, "...Big bro, don’t be like this. Though this thod is dramatic, it usually works without fail."
If Julian really did this, he’d be out of his mind.
He didn’t bother with Simon, got up, and left the office.
Simon followed behind him enthusiastically, "Big bro, you have to trust , my thod really works..."
Julian walked out of the company, planning to first go to a restaurant to order food, then call Paige and ask her to co over.
Simon walked backward in front of him, not reacting even when they reached the roadside.
Just then, a car sped towards them, and Julian quickly reached out to pull Simon, but the force flung him forward, and he was hit by another coming car.
Simon steadied himself, turned back, and saw the scene, terrified and pale.
"Big bro?!"
Last night, Paige sent a ssage to Sumr Xavier, but Sumr didn’t reply. She thought she might have scared Sumr and didn’t bother further.
Of course, she wasn’t really going out to find a man so casually; she truly went back to the Sterling Family, not as Julian thought.
However, today, the Sterling Family had guests, a socialite friend of Yvette Hughes, apparently with the surna Wright.
When Mrs. Wright saw Paige, she paused, "So this is your stepdaughter?"
Yvette quickly introduced, "Yes, this is Paige. Paige, this is Mrs. Wright, you should call her Aunt Wright."
Paige nodded, politely greeting.
Mrs. Wright pulled the corners of her mouth into a smile, inspecting Paige with a critical eye, "I thought she looked a bit familiar. Isn’t she that celebrity?"
So Jared Sullivan’s daughter was the famous actress who beca a sensation as a teenager and recently announced her retirent to start her own company?
No wonder she was so popular in the entertainnt industry; even after retiring, she’s well off, thanks to having a capable father.
However, girls in the entertainnt world, how many are truly clean? Even if Paige truly has a rich dad, likely no one would want her as their daughter-in-law. Mrs. Wright would definitely keep an eye on her son to prevent him from being fancied by such a woman.
After greeting, Paige was about to return to her room, unaware of Mrs. Wright’s chaotic thoughts.
But Mrs. Wright spoke up then.
"Yvette, your stepdaughter doesn’t seem to respect you?"
"That’s not true, Paige is always quite polite to ."
"Yvette, you’re just too straightforward. Even as a stepmother, you’re half her mother and have the right to discipline her. Look, it’s late at night and she ca back without even calling you mom. If my daughter were this unruly, I’d have slapped her by now."
Yvette was left feeling awkward.
Skylar Hughes glanced at Paige, and smiled, "Aunt Wright, you’ve misunderstood. Paige isn’t that kind of person. She probably played too much outside last night and got tired, so she wanted to rest early in her room."
Playing outside late at night, what else could she be doing? As a wealthy heiress, she doesn’t know how to keep herself dignified. Fortunately, she’s a stepdaughter. If she were a biological daughter, Yvette would probably be mortified.
"She should be well-disciplined."
Skylar continued, "Aunt Wright, you ntioned that my mom is a stepmother, which is a difficult role. How could she discipline her?"
"True, so girls are inherently rebellious like their mothers. If you discipline her, she might see you as an enemy. To have such a daughter, it’s clear your husband’s previous wife wasn’t great either."
Anyway, Jared Sullivan’s ex-wife was dead, so naturally, it was ti to praise Yvette, the current wife.
Yvette still looked awkward.
About to enter her bedroom, Paige shut the door and ca back out.
She walked up to Mrs. Wright and harshly slapped her across her smiling face.
Mrs. Wright was stunned, covering her face.
"You—you dare hit ?"
Paige said coldly, "The first ti I’ve encountered a household manner that involves coming into soone else’s house to insult their deceased wife and daughter, I couldn’t help but feel the need to teach you a lesson, Mrs. Wright. Is that too much?"
"You, you, you, you uncultured thing!"
"My mother’s manners teach the virtue of reciprocity. You present as trash, I reciprocate with disdain!"
Paige’s aura was overpowering; Mrs. Wright didn’t dare retaliate nor could she win verbally, only trembling with anger and finally shifting the bla to Yvette.
"Look at your stepdaughter; she dares speak to guests and elders like this! Is this the upbringing of the Sterling Family?"
Before marrying Jared Sullivan, Yvette’s family background was ordinary, which led to her acting low when facing these wealthy ladies, never assuming the air of Mrs. Sterling.
Paige scoffed coldly at Mrs. Wright, "Stop shouting in our Sterling Family."
Yvette pulled Paige aside, "Paige, Aunt Wright is an elder, let’s say a few less words."
Then, with an apologetic face, she said to Mrs. Wright, "I truly apologize, Mrs. Wright, Paige’s temperant is just a bit straightforward..."
Mrs. Wright’s expression changed imdiately, "So you’re saying she’s right?"
