Chapter 95: Chapter 95
"You’ll see when you watch whatever cara you have in here. I wonder if it was just for
or if you don’t trust your little happy family. Don’t ask any more questions because I will not tell you if I looked for sothing," said Veronica.
"I knew it was too good to be true that you would co here wanting to start over. That isn’t like you. For a mont, I got excited. I don’t even know why," Evelyn said, confused by her actions.
At first, Evelyn wanted to be close to Veronica so that she would have a backup plan should Henry turn on her more than he already did, but then she beca excited for other reasons.
Veronica couldn’t believe her mother would be excited that they would be talking. It didn’t seem like sothing Evelyn would care about. "I am not falling for that. You wanted sothing so you allowed
to co here. What is it? Are you low on money? Is your husband not treating you well? Who gets upset about a parked car being hit?"
"Henry always had a temper and I can handle it. I hope when you screw up a few tis, your child speaks to you like you talk to . You need to have a taste of it. I am not going to try to convince you that I like you. I’ve done a lot for you. Who do you suspect hurt you? ?" Evelyn asked, knowing Veronica didn’t have much faith in her.
"At first I did but I don’t think it was you," Veronica honestly replied.
"Good to see that you trust -"
"I don’t trust you. I don’t trust that if you found out soone in this ho tried to kill , you wouldn’t try to cover up for them to keep this life you have here. This family was always going to be more important than
and we both know it. That surprise look is good. Maybe you would make a good actress," Veronica said, getting to her feet since she was done here.
Evelyn didn’t hear much of what Veronica said. "Wait, wait, wait. Is it Henry or Beth? That couldn’t be possible. You and Beth have your differences now because of Liam but she always liked you. She likes you when you wouldn’t pay her any mind in the past. And Henry," she paused.
Evelyn wasn’t confident that Henry wouldn’t do sothing so stupid because Veronica wasn’t giving him the money he asked for. He would do it without telling her about it and he would do it without caring that this was her daughter.
Well, she wasn’t so motherly to Veronica for Henry to think she would care.
Veronica noticed her mother’s hesitation about Henry. She didn’t think it was Henry. Veronica was more concerned about how Evelyn would be if she found out Beth might be involved. Would she protect the daughter she raised or the real daughter?
Veronica didn’t want to think about her mother’s choice. "Don’t try to figure out who it was. It’s not like you’re going to expose them."
Evelyn thought differently. If it was Henry, it might be her chance to get rid of him before he got rid of her. She loved the man but he didn’t show that he loved her anymore and snapped at her any chance he got.
If Evelyn was given the chance, she could make sothing out of the car dealership but Henry wouldn’t take her advice.
"Let
know if it is Henry you suspect. I can tell you where he was that day. Why are you laughing?" Evelyn asked, confused by Veronica’s reaction when she was trying to help.
"I’m sorry but it’s just funny to
how you jumped to thinking it was Henry or maybe I am just laughing away the hurt that your precious Beth could do no wrong. I don’t ever want to cry in front of you so I rather laugh. Beth is far from innocent like you think," said Veronica.
Evelyn shook her head. "You’ve always been this way when it ca to Beth. I know you didn’t like sharing
with her so you always had sothing to complain about. She tried to be like a sister to you but you wouldn’t let her. You have a habit of pointing out what other people do wrong but not when you are wrong. You’ve done so bad things too."
"Have you ever considered that maybe there’s a reason why I didn’t want to get close to Beth? Maybe she treats
differently when you aren’t around. She enjoys rubbing it in my face that you love her more-"
"It isn’t true," Evelyn interjected. Beth was misbehaving these days but she still knew Beth’s heart.
"I am telling you the truth. Your precious Beth plotted with a woman to start so affair rumour with my husband recently. I know you all think I stole Liam from Beth so she has the right to act how she wants but he never belonged to her in the first place. We t by chance at the school you didn’t even want
to attend. Oh!" Veronica covered her mouth with her hand.
She surprised herself by a piece of a conversation with her mother coming to mind. She rembered it even if it was a little part.
Evelyn didn’t understand Veronica’s reaction and why her eyes were on the brink of tears. She didn’t know who to believe since Beth and Veronica were always like this. Veronica accused Beth of doing sothing then Beth would cry and say it wasn’t true. Evelyn didn’t have the patience for them to be going around in circles anymore.
"Beth loved Liam. You knew that I was setting her up with soone back then and sohow, you got engaged to him out of the blue. It didn’t make any sense for anyone and that’s why the Sterlings don’t like you. You don’t belong with a man like Liam. You’re," Evelyn stopped herself before she went too far.
Veronica smiled. "Don’t stop now. I already know how you and everyone else feel. I’m not a good match for Liam because of my background even though I grew up here with the Harpers. You were about to insult
without thinking that I am your daughter. The sa could be said for you and Henry who you are still married to."
Veronica continued, "You’re a real piece of work for a mother. I’m going to hope that this dangerous father of mine is just a little bit better than you. I’m going to leave now before I do sothing I might not regret. We don’t need to see each other anymore after this."
"Wait," Evelyn stopped Veronica. "Is Beth really involved?"
Beth had been acting out over Evelyn eting with Veronica but would she have been so crazy to try to get rid of Veronica before? This was sweet Beth who couldn’t hurt a fly. Evelyn thought she was going through the brat teenager phase she skipped now that her modelling plans weren’t going like she wanted.
"I will be stupid and tell you sothing in hopes you wake up. Beth is going to panic at so point and when she does, know that sothing important to
was here and now it’s gone. If you for a second think about helping Beth then I am going to bring my father here. I know where he is," Veronica lied.
"That’s impossible. If you bring your father here, you are going to regret it," said Evelyn.
"I know that it’s you who will regret my father coming here. You should see your face now. You look scared like you know you ssed up and he’s going to co after you. What was it? Did you promise to take care of ? If you did, you failed at that part. It’s never too late for you to do the right thing," Veronica said, hoping her mother would do sothing good by watching Beth.
Veronica picked up her bag and headed toward the door. To her, this was the last conversation she ever needed to have with her mother. Evelyn wouldn’t say much about her father and she was always going to believe that Beth was innocent.
If Evelyn gets herself involved in Beth’s ss then Veronica would gladly deal with Evelyn too or throw her into the hands of her father regardless of what kind of man he was. Her mother had to suffer just like she suffered. There wasn’t any kindness in Veronica’s heart for the Harpers to let go of the past and move on.
Evelyn was left thinking about what Veronica said. She could play the footage of where Veronica went but she knew Veronica didn’t have any good reason now to lie about finding sothing belonging to her in Beth’s room.
Evelyn looked in the direction of Beth’s room. She had noticed Beth being too paranoid when it ca to her and Veronica speaking. Harming Veronica was sothing she expected from Henry but not Beth. She had once asked Henry if Beth could be involved but he denied it and passed it as a stupid guess.
Evelyn didn’t want to believe but there was sothing wrong with Beth. "What has she done?"
