Evelyn welcod the break to think about what she was going to do with Veronica. Why was Veronica speaking about her father so much all of a sudden when she didn’t ask about him much in the past? Did soone reach out to her?

Evelyn stood up to get Veronica a drink. This was bad timing since she wanted to be focused on getting Beth out of the ho and doing sothing to make Henry invest his money in sothing else to give them money. Now she had to worry about Veronica successfully eting with her father.

Nothing was going to happen to Veronica if she saw her father but what about Evelyn?

Evelyn feared what would happen to herself for all the mistakes she made over the years concerning Veronica. What would he think or do if he knew how Veronica was here?

Evelyn looked back at Veronica still sitting down. She was unaware of everything that happened before they ca here and she had to be still clueless about the present since Evelyn was certain Veronica did not have her mories anymore. It was only confusing because Veronica had the right answers sotis.

’I need to find out before she leaves,’ Evelyn planned.

The sound of the phone in the apartnt ringing annoyed Evelyn but then she worried about it being sothing concerning Henry or Beth. Neither one should co ho now while Veronica is still here.

Evelyn hurried to the phone.

Veronica watched her mother run around the apartnt to answer the phone. She was curious about what distraction Jero ca up with since he told her not to worry about it. Whatever it was, it made her mother angry since she was yelling at the person on the phone about a car and suing whoever damaged it.

’What did Jero do?’ Veronica wondered. She was almost tempted to go down with her mother to see it but she had sothing important to do here.

"Those idiots damaged my car. I- Veronica," Evelyn rembered her guest. "I can’t deal with this now. Help yourself to anything from the fridge and wait here. I won’t be long if I don’t have to take the clothes off of soone by suing them. I just got that car recently."

It was one thing after the other to make Henry upset with her.

Veronica didn’t get the chance to respond to her mother since Evelyn was quick to storm out the door. She waited a mont in case her mother would turn back for sothing and then stood up when it seed clear.

Veronica headed straight to where her mother pointed out Beth’s room was and lucky for her, the door wasn’t locked. Of course, it wasn’t since Beth would never think she would co here.

She opened the door and frowned. Why did anyone need so many pictures of themself in one room? Then there were all the shopping bags not thrown out. It was easy to tell that Beth had been spoiled.

Veronica ignored the state of Beth’s room and began her search for the phone. She knew what she was looking for thanks to Liam showing her a picture of the model and pointing out that there was a scratch at the back from where she dropped it but didn’t want to replace it.

Veronica went to the desk to search around for the phone and when it wasn’t there, she started to pull open the drawers. Veronica couldn’t believe her eyes when she opened the first drawer and found a black phone. She turned it around and saw the scratch Liam described.

"Is she stupid?" Veronica wondered. If not her, soone else could have co in here and seen this phone. They wouldn’t know whose phone it was but still.

Beth was too careless leaving the phone around. It was good for Veronica but it hurt to think that soone as stupid as Beth could have been the one to almost kill her.

"What does that say about ?" Veronica muttered.

Veronica started to turn on the phone as she closed the drawer and exited the room before her mother returned. Having the phone didn’t an they would know exactly what happened and Beth wasn’t going to speak just because they had it but it at least confird that Beth was involved sohow.

Veronica returned to take her seat just as the phone ca on and showed a picture of her and Liam. She was relieved to confirm that the phone was back in her hands where it belonged and she could hopefully see what she had been up to before her accident.

Veronica dropped the phone in the bag she brought with her and waited for her mother’s return. The question remained on why Beth decided to keep the phone instead of tossing it sowhere. She couldn’t be unaware that Liam suspected everyone here of being involved so why?

Veronica was ready to go now that she had what she wanted but she still wanted to continue her conversation about her father. If she offered Evelyn money, would a na at least be provided? Or the truth about how dangerous he was? If he did love her?

It was obvious that Evelyn did fear her ex-husband but did she fear him more than she wanted money?

Nearly fifteen minutes later, Evelyn returned muttering curses under her breath about a car. She found Veronica in the sa spot but she didn’t trust that Veronica hadn’t gotten up to move around. It didn’t matter how secretive Veronica was since there was a cara Evelyn placed in the ho to watch what Henry did when she wasn’t around.

Veronica shouldn’t think her mother was stupid. She was smart enough to find herself in this position right beside Henry.

"Is everything alright?" Veronica asked, pretending to be concerned.

"It will be after the idiot who hit my car pays for it. I’ll have to listen to Henry telling

about how careless I am even though the car was parked. I can’t deal with Henry getting another reason to be angry with . Today is not going well," Evelyn said, looking to Veronica who might be the source of her current bad luck. "If this is your way of getting back at

"I would get back at you by ruining your car? That would be the last plan I would co up with," Veronica replied.

It was the truth since it was Jero’s idea.

"Maybe. I am curious what you ca here looking for. You don’t trust

and I don’t trust you. Surely you know there’s a reason why I left you alone here. What are you looking for ?" Evelyn asked, smiling since she caught Veronica.
