Chapter 78: Chapter 78

Benjamin looked at his father. Their mother needed to co out now to deal with this before it got out of hand. If Nathan was in the car then he should co out now to talk so sense into his wife.

Adeline was playing with fire and by the end of this, she was going to get burned. Benjamin was sure of it. There wasn’t a way for her to get away with turning her back on her family like this.

Adeline kept her eyes on her father. He could forget about Nathan being in the car and hit her. Nothing was out of the question when her father was angry. He would say and do anything then have them apologise for upsetting him.

Vance was disappointed that Adeline would be like this. He would have placed Benjamin as the one to quit first. "You are disappointing. I thought you were smart but I was wrong."

"You’ll see one day just how smart I am and when you do, I want you to think of this mont. I want you to rember this mont well because you are going to regret not hearing my demands. I won’t get in the way of your plans. I don’t have anything to gain from sabotaging you," Adeline said, needing it to be understood she was not the enemy now.

Adeline continued, "I just can’t be a puppet who gets nothing in return and will have to spend the rest of my life cleaning up Benjamin’s mistake. I don’t understand why you didn’t push

instead of him. I would have been flawless and got what you needed so long ago but you never should have any interest in . Not giving

a better position."

"Hey!" Benjamin poked Adeline on her arm. "Don’t get greedy."

"Greedy?" Adeline laughed at his poor choice of a word. "I can’t be greedy when I don’t have anything to hold onto. If anything, you’re the greedy one and it annoys

that you got it all after my hard work. I pass on the credit from my events to you. Turned my husband’s charity event into sothing to make you look good. No more."

"Get out," Vance ordered Adeline. He had enough of her disobedience.

"Father, you’re letting her get away like this? She cut you off and she’s turning her back on . On us. You can’t let go of this easily. Had this been , you would have beaten

already!" Benjamin argued, seeing this as unfair.

Adeline was doing sothing they were raised against. She was trying to leave the family which was never easy to do. She needed to die to let everything she knew go with her.

If Adeline was planning sothing, Benjamin feared she might succeed since she knew everything about him. She knew his every move with who he had to et with and all his dirty little secrets to expose him.

Adeline could not walk out on them.

"You will get the hell out of my ho and not return until you are ready to co to apologise. You will be back," Vance said, knowing it wouldn’t be long before Adeline ca crawling back to him.

Vance knew her weakness and it would only take one attack to bring her back right here and have her be more obedient than she was before.

Sotis he had to let his children learn the hard way for them to behave again.

Adeline wanted to tell him that she was not coming back but she preferred to show him. She already knew his next steps. He would aim for Nathan or Liam. Adeline couldn’t have those two be the reason she was trapped here any longer.

"Goodbye," Adeline said and then turned around to leave. She wasn’t confident in herself at first but now she was even though she knew danger was coming her way and fast.

In the long run, this was going to be worth it. She only needed to hide for a while to be out of her father’s path.

Benjamin couldn’t believe Adeline was getting off so easily. If he did this then his father would be dragging him in a room to correct him.

"Don’t even think about trying sothing like that. Your sister is going through her rebellious phase but she will be back. Until then, get your act together. Why did you think to co here instead of going to that eting? You are costing

money," Vance said, turning his anger to Benjamin.

"You said you wanted to speak to us-"

"Because you are already here and you weren’t going to make it there in ti. You’re costing

money each ti you screw up. Get your act together before the next accident reported on involves you. Get out and find your nephew. You’re both disappointing

today," Vance said, not knowing what he did to deserve being stuck with these two.

Benjamin stayed silent to not get on his father’s bad side. Adeline was the one ssing everything up but he was taking the heat. ’You’re going to regret underestimating ,’ he thought.

Away from Vance’s ho, Liam drove Veronica to the beach just as she wanted.

"Should we get a beach house?" Liam asked, ready to buy so they had sowhere else to escape to.

"No. We can rent one whenever we want to co down here. It would be a waste to buy a beach house when we’re not going to be here a lot. Or maybe I can move here and leave you to deal with all the headaches back ho. I like it," Veronica said, sticking her hand out the window to enjoy the wind.

"That’s not going to happen and if sothing hits your hand, you can’t cry to

about it later. I’ll do my best to get you a nice robot hand," said Liam.

Veronica laughed and put her hand back inside in case Liam had jinxed her. "For all the money you have I would expect a cool new arm that transforms into a gun and has all my keys in it. Whatever you have packed is making

hungry. We need to get there faster. I hope it isn’t crowded today."

"It shouldn’t be. I ca here because it’s normally empty and most people are at work having lunch at this ti. We should be fine as long as we weren’t followed," Liam said but the chances they weren’t followed were slim.

Veronica’s excitent grew when the car parked. She quickly opened her door and stepped out to look at the sea. "Just wait," she said, ready to start getting over her fear.
