Chapter 131: Chapter 131

Vance was concerned but knowing the n he hired, he believed it was them who fired the shot because it was necessary. Looking around, the location they were in didn’t seem like it would have anyone around at this hour to point out his car being there.

He could depend on these n to do all kinds of jobs for him and clean up afterwards so he wouldn’t be tied to any of this.

"Drive off now," Vance instructed the driver. There wasn’t a point in sticking around when gunshots were going off. "I’m not eting with anyone. Let tonight be a lesson for you to not go behind anyone’s back."

Instead of doing what Vance wanted, the driver of the car got out and started to leave. It was promised that as long as he kept out of the way then he would live. Normally he wouldn’t go against Vance but his hands were really tied with the threat he received.

Vance grew concerned when the n he was watching started to drop and there wasn’t a gunshot heard anymore for him to know when soone might be hurt. He only saw the n dropping like lies or trying to run for cover.

"Benjamin, get in the driver’s seat and drive off,’ Vance said, seeing this as the only way they would both be safe.

Benjamin folded his arms. "If I get out of this car then I might get shot and if I slide into the driver’s seat to drive away, I have a feeling they are going to aim for

so I think I am going to stay here. I wonder who they are after," he smiled.

Vance put together that this was what Benjamin had been looking forward to all night. "You better hope that I die tonight."

"I’ve been hoping since morning that you would die here. Do

a favour by getting out to run away. I want to see them shoot you down," Benjamin replied. "This is the real party here."

Vance reached under his seat for a gun he kept in the car. His life was too dangerous for him to not keep a gun close by. "Who are you working with? Do you think you’d be good without ? That you’ll just get all my connections?"

"No," Benjamin shook his head. "I know I won’t get all of them but I’ll try to be satisfied with just getting a few. If you want to know who you pissed off then open the door."

Vance looked to his left at the person standing outside the door. A familiar face was there. "When I am done with him then I’m coming back for you."

Vance picked up the gun and opened the door to get out. He ca face to face with the man he rembered to be nad Kevin. "This is a bad way for you to try to get my attention to do business. You killed people I already paid."

"I had to do sothing to get your attention," Dean replied.

Vance looked around at the n dead around them. "If you were going to be silent when you killed them, why did you let one gunshot be heard? Think you could scare ?"

"No, I just wanted to get your attention. It would be disappointing if you would let one little shot scare you. Don’t be angry with your son since he didn’t plan this. I was just using him," said Dean.

Vance was still going to have Benjamin beaten until he fixed it by the end of the night. Anyone could stab him in the back but not his children after what he did for them. "What business do you have with ?"

Dean closed the door before Benjamin could step outside. "My na is Dean. Having to hear Kevin all night was bothering . We both know that I didn’t bring you here to do business with . You hurt soone I loved."

"Who was it? A woman you liked or a friend who double-crossed ? When you’re betrayed by people you helped, it’s only fair that you get rid of them. A man like you should understand," Vance said, knowing anyone who could pull this off had gotten rid of his fair share of people.

Dean nodded his head, agreeing with Vance. "Traitors should be killed but I know this person hasn’t done anything to you. I want to hear from you how and why you tried to get rid of Veronica Sterling."

"Veronica? It’s her," Vance said in disbelief. She was the last person he would think this man was getting revenge for. "You love her? You look a little too odd to have any kind of romantic connection to her but then again, it wouldn’t be the first ti I saw this kind of relationship. Are you a relative?"

"Her father," Dean revealed. "Imagine my surprise when I heard that my daughter almost died. My only child at that. Then I heard that it might be soone around her. At first, I was after her mother. Evelyn isn’t the best mother which I had to learn recently."

Dean stepped away from Vance, careful not to step in the blood of the man who once worked for Vance. "I try not to kill innocent people but they were going to stand in my way and I needed to speak to you tonight. I need to know what pushed you to try killing my little girl. I don’t want to hear that it was only because she married your grandson."

"This cos as a surprise to . As far as anyone was concerned, Veronica didn’t have a father so where did you co from now? I don’t know what anyone has told you but I didn’t try to kill her. You’ll need to keep looking-"

"You’re a terrible liar which is confusing because of the work you do. How doesn’t anyone in this city see through you and your family? I wouldn’t have cornered you like this if I didn’t have proof that it was you. Don’t you have better things to do like teaching your son common sense?" Dean asked, his anger quickly reaching a boiling point now that he stood in front of Vance.

He could do whatever he wanted now.

"If she had soone like this backing her all this ti then why didn’t she just co out and use your na? I am not going out like this," Vance said, aiming his gun at Dean. He was going to get out of this sohow and the best way to do it was to use the man stupid enough to stand next to him when he had a gun.

Dean laughed. "You made the mistake of thinking I hadn’t ordered my n to shoot both of us. As long as I take you to hell, I don’t mind going with you."
