Chapter 877: Chapter 42 Isn’t it easy to think of bad things?
“Big sister, what’s wrong with you? Why do you look so pale?”
Belldandy looked worriedly at her sister whose expression had suddenly turned uncertain and couldn’t help but step forward to ask with concern.
The bartender Ulu, or rather the forr Goddess Urd, snapped back to reality, pointing at the fla-like mark on her sister’s forehead, and said with frustration:
“This is a major problem!”
Then, she told her sister about the terms and process of a contract she had made with soone, growing more depressed as she spoke.
Centuries ago, the youngest sister Scouty suddenly vanished to escape responsibility. Belldandy, afraid that Father God would punish Scouty upon awakening, pleaded with the eldest sister Urd to co-author the ‘Great Chorale’.
Urd, unable to resist further, had to agree.
As a result, their irregular actions led to severe disruptions in the Nordic World, and the originally orderly ‘Great Chorale’ was gradually altered beyond recognition.
To find the source of the anomalies and restore the increasingly chaotic Fate back to its proper path, sisters Urd and Belldandy traced the root causes all the way to Heather Island.
Over the centuries that followed, they indeed found and interacted with so elents that disturbed Fate.
Such as Wise Wolf Helo, the magician Yenifa, and Princess Xili of Cintra.
Beyond those, however, they made no further gains.
In order to resolve the matter from its roots, Urd reluctantly disguised herself as Ulu, a bartender, and waited on Heather Island, hoping to discover sothing.
Gradually, she grew accustod to life on Heather Island, ca to love her bartending job, and beca more and more human-like.
It was during this ti that she and observer targets like the magician Yenifa and Wise Wolf Helo beca closer and ford a sort of friendship.
The little girl Xili, because her body carried the Ancient Blood with properties of Fate, made Urd, the Fate Goddess, feel a special affinity.
Thus, Urd cared about Xili as if she were her own younger sister, occasionally guiding her at the crossroads of fate.
However, Urd had not expected that her whimsical intervention today, intended to help, not only failed to do much but also ended up endangering her own sister Belldandy.
What was even stranger was that with the Power of Fate they both possessed, they couldn’t erase the Divine Pattern representing the contract. Instead, it further integrated with the Destiny Divine Power inside Belldandy.
Seeing that they couldn’t forcibly break the contract, Urd thought for a mont, then a lightbulb went off in her mind:
“There’s another way!”
“What?” Belldandy asked blankly.
“Make that boy fail his mission!” Urd said excitedly, “If he can’t discover the truth about the Dragon Disaster and eliminate its source, I won’t have to pay the Reward, and won’t need to give you up!”
“Oh…” Belldandy nodded, her expression as calm and gentle as usual.
Seeing this, Urd, sowhat crazily, rushed forward, grabbed Belldandy’s shoulders, and shook her:
“What are you waiting for then? Hurry up and catch up with them, do everything possible to prevent that boy from finding out the truth about the Dragon Disaster!”
“This seems like cheating…” Belldandy hesitated, “It doesn’t seem right.”
Urd, looking at her earnest sister, felt want to cry but had no tears:
“At a ti like this, are you still concerned about that?”
“We are the Fate Goddesses, the setters of order, although we can’t be truly fair, at least we shouldn’t trample on the rules ourselves.”
Belldandy shook her head and protested sincerely with her perspective,
“Everything has a price. Since you’ve already made a contract, if he completes it, I am his deserved reward.”
Hearing this, Urd felt a headache coming on.
Among the three sisters, she was mature and steady, the youngest Scouty was lively and rebellious, and the second sister Belldandy was sincere and gentle.
Additionally, Belldandy was the one who valued rules and order the most.
If it was just a minor matter, Urd wouldn’t mind Belldandy maintaining this attitude and fulfilling the duties of a Fate Goddess.
But this was about handing her over to an outsider, a contract made by her, the eldest sister Urd; how could she agree to let this happen?
However, considering Belldandy’s personality, Urd still suppressed her temper and patiently persuaded:
“Adhering to order is right, but the gravity of the situation must also be considered. If he really completes the contract, and you beco his possession, what if he misuses the Power of Fate? If the world becos a ss because of this, we will be the greatest sinners!”
Belldandy, hearing this, frowned thoughtfully.
That indeed was a problem.
“The authority of Fate should not be controlled by outsiders. For the balance of the Nine Great Kingdoms and the orderly progress of the ‘Great Chorale’, we as Fate Goddesses must prevent this possibility!”
Urd, after a lengthy speech, continued righteously,
“So, what we’re doing isn’t destroying order, but rather protecting it!”
Seeing her elder sister’s convincing manner, Belldandy was unconsciously persuaded and finally nodded in agreent:
“So, what should I do next?”
“They went to Dwarf Country, hurry and follow them, make sure to prevent them from finding out the truth and solving the Dragon Disaster!”
Urd reiterated her scheming strategy, then, changing the subject,
“Right, did you say you found our little sister when you ca in?”
“Yeah.”
“Where is she?”
“A few days ago, she sent a letter, saying she went to Giant Country.”
Belldandy answered honestly and took out the letter, emitting a faint frosty breath.
