Chapter 1020: Chapter 96 All-female Lineup, Version T0_2
“It’s alright, no need to be so formal.”
Luo En waved his hand casually, flashing a bright smile, and then asked,
“What’s the matter? Did you need for sothing?”
“Yes. As per your instructions, the Valkyrie Corps has successfully regrouped and completed the first phase of training. We wanted to celebrate, so we’ve prepared so fine wine and food. We’d like to invite you to join the banquet. Do you have ti?”
Slude answered respectfully, and posed the invitation.
Beside her, Hild seized the opportunity to poke her head out from behind Slude, chattering enthusiastically:
“The main dish is Lord Thor’s divine ram! Slude borrowed it specially from the family—it tastes absolutely divine. You *have* to try it!”
Audlinde, who was reading a book nearby, couldn’t help but nod, swallowing hard as a glimr of longing crossed her normally expressionless face.
Unable to resist their enthusiasm, and having missed the taste of those divine rams for so ti now, Luo En agreed with a smile.
The three Valkyries imdiately lit up with happiness and eagerly led Luo En to a temple known as “Vangelf.”
This place, opposite the Heroic Spirit Hall, served as the gathering lounge for the Asa Divine Race’s goddesses. It was also commonly referred to as the “Red Wine Hall,” and had always been situated within Luo En’s domain, under his administration.
For anyone wishing to indulge thoroughly, using the hall’s anities, ingredients, and alcohol stock required prior approval from Luo En, the God of Feasts.
Clearly, the Valkyries were particularly keen to invite Luo En precisely because of these considerations.
Luo En, unconcerned about such harmless little sches, followed Slude and the other two into the grand hall. There, he saw Brynhild commanding a large group of Valkyries, arranging the venue and preparing food and drinks.
But what surprised Luo En more was another unexpected guest.
—Scouty, the Goddess of the Past, was also there.
Watching the rebellious Fate Goddess happily chatting and laughing with the Valkyries while setting up the hall—with no trace of the previous tense atmosphere—Luo En couldn’t help but be a little shocked:
“When did you all beco chummy with her?”
“After the first phase of training ended,”
Slude answered firmly, pausing briefly before explaining further,
“Actually, Skulde isn’t difficult to get along with. Once you figure out her temperant, praise her often, and speak tactfully, she’ll be easy to cheer up. She’s willing to do anything and teach anything.”
*Only soft words, no hard ones? Isn’t that just a child?*
*Wait—she really is a child, isn’t she.*
Luo En smacked his forehead and chuckled helplessly.
The Goddess of the Future was indeed an eternally youthful child; her rebellious and naive personality naturally reflected that. Having observed Belldandy’s gentle kindness and Urd’s mature composure, he’d sohow overlooked the fundantal truth of the matter and mistakenly regarded Scouty as a reasonable adult.
Looking at the scene before him—Scouty, a Fate Goddess of high stature, utterly lost in self-indulgence as she worked tirelessly amidst the praises and complints of those around her—Luo En found the sight imnsely amusing.
Indeed, a “lollipop” is a little girl’s Achilles’ heel.
With the persistent challenge of diplomacy between the Norn Three Goddesses and the Valkyrie Corps finally resolved, Luo En cast an approving glance toward Slude and her two companions:
“You’ve done well.”
Slude waved her hands repeatedly, quickly clarifying:
“It wasn’t us—it was all thanks to our elder sister.”
*Brynhild?*
Hearing this, Luo En imdiately understood.
As the de facto leader of the Valkyrie Corps following Freya, Brynhild naturally excelled at interpersonal relationships, particularly with won of similar rank and status.
If not, she wouldn’t have won the unanimous support of the nine Valkyrie Captains, who affectionately called her “Elder Sister,” nor would she have developed synchronized combination techniques with them.
From what Luo En knew, among those nine captains, there were quite a few problematic ones, each with their own personality quirks.
For Brynhild to manage so many “troubled children,” pulling Scouty, the newcor, into the fold was obviously no trouble at all.
Good thing Brynhild had been brought back to the Immortal Palace; otherwise, Luo En would have had to personally resolve these trivial matters—and he grimaced at the very thought of the headache it would give him.
Feeling fortunate for his foresight, Luo En’s gaze toward Brynhild brimd with appreciation.
At that mont, as the venue setup neared completion, Brynhild quickly wrapped up her tasks and, under the pretense of reporting on her work, led her superior, Luo En, into a secluded and quiet space.
Standing in the small compartnt before him, with its bubbling spring of clean water, Luo En’s eyelid twitched.
*—The washing area?*
*—You’re sure this is where you want to report your work?*
Seeing Brynhild’s smoky eyes and reddened face as she crouched slightly, showcasing her remarkable eloquence, Luo En instantly understood the exact nature of the “work” she intended to report.
Outside, the banquet was already underway, and the festive sounds of celebration filled the air.
Not only were the original Valkyries present, but also the recently arrived Belldandy and Urd, the two Fate Goddesses, as well as Freya the Love Goddess and Sif the Fertility God.
Listening to the familiar voices outside while facing Brynhild’s charming and persuasive deanor, Luo En broke out in a nervous sweat.
To avoid having soone barge in and discover this awkward situation, Luo En swallowed his frustration, stood straighter, and sped up the “report” session with Brynhild.
For the mont, both inside and outside the room reached their climactic highs.
*It’s finally over!*
Luo En exhaled deeply, gesturing for Brynhild, who had just finished her “self-service al,” to leave first. He decided to stay behind briefly to avoid drawing suspicion by leaving together.
After confirming Brynhild had gone far away, he carefully tidied up his clothes and cleared any traces from the surroundings.
However, just as he cautiously pushed open the door to the compartnt, he saw Freya standing at the entrance of the washing area, smiling aningfully.
The Goddess of Love and Desire sniffed lightly, sensing the lingering scent of heather flowers, and grinned as she blocked Luo En’s path:
“Loki, you wouldn’t want your subordinates out there to learn what just went on here, would you?”
Realizing he’d been caught red-handed, Luo En nodded begrudgingly, only to be shoved back into the tiny compartnt.
The impromptu self-service station quietly reopened.
—
The next morning.
As Odin stepped out of the Golden Palace, he saw his blood alliance brother standing at the entrance; Luo En was yawning, looking utterly drained.
“What happened to you?”
“Exhausted.”
“Do you need so rest?”
“No, just let crash here for a bit.”
Luo En answered weakly, deeply regretting his impulsive decision to attend the banquet the previous evening.
Because it wasn’t until after he arrived that he realized he wasn’t there to eat—but to *be* eaten.
Especially Freya—eager to assert her claims to the title of Love Goddess and prove she wasn’t all show—she had thoroughly worn him down all night long.
Of course, if it had been rely a typical self-service dinner, Luo En might have managed.
But indulging in this activity while separated from hundreds of Valkyrie subordinates by just a thin wall was excessively taxing on his psyche.
Freya wasn’t afraid of being caught red-handed; Luo En still had his dignity.
After an excruciating night battling Freya’s relentless advances and Brynhild’s intermittent “second helpings,” Luo En hadn’t eaten much of the banquet spread—nearly being reduced to the status of washing area maintenance paraphernalia instead. Terrified to linger further, he had bolted to Odin’s Golden Palace seeking refuge.
At that mont, Odin clapped Luo En’s shoulder, his aged face showing a subtle smirk:
“Perfect timing—the others are waiting for you inside.”
With that, he stepped aside, revealing a lively Golden Palace hall filled with seated attendees.
As Luo En raised his head to look, his vision darkened.
Within the hall sat many familiar faces, notably his adoptive daughter Heluo, Light Elf Queen Celebrian, Dark Elf Queen Rose, Demon Hunter Xili, Youth Goddess Eden, and other long-ti associates—all forming an overwhelming all-female lineup, arguably an unbeatable team composition.
Moreover, their gazes directed at him seed laden with ambiguous intent.
“Carry on with your discussions—I won’t interrupt—just don’t waste too much ti.”
Odin shoved Luo En inside, then closed the doors of the Golden Palace.
As one after another, his old acquaintances rose from their seats and walked toward him with eyes brimming with unfathomable aning, Luo En swallowed hard, his hands discretely reaching for the door handle.
