Ethan furrowed his brows; even in his dullness, he understood what Yvette ant.

She planned to use him as a shield.

She intended for him to keep her as his mistress.

To be his lover in the shadows.

Actually, Yvette wasn’t foolish; once matters of love entangled individuals, it beca challenging to define their relationship clearly.

He naturally needed to protect her, Sumrs, and Caden, as it was a minor matter within his capabilities.

"I’m not lying." Seeing Ethan remain silent, Yvette’s eyes reddened. "Those rumors aren’t true. I haven’t been with so many n, except for Henry... no one else."

Ethan frowned, picking up the test results for a glance; they were from Montville Hospital.

Apparently, Henry’s assistant had taken her for them, all tests were STD screenings.

Honestly, these tests were sowhat insulting.

"I won’t touch Henry’s woman." Ethan tossed the test results onto the table.

Yvette lowered her head, tears welling up.

Was it just because... that one ti, without consent, she had to bear a lifeti stigma?

"No need to emulate those won’s tricks; you have value to , but not in that way. I’ll protect you and Sumrs, so there’s no need for such plans." Ethan spoke again.

Yvette said nothing, wishing she could find a hole to hide in out of sha.

She wanted to temporarily tie Ethan to her with such ans, but Ethan wasn’t interested in her at all.

He could even be said to disdain her.

"S-sorry." Yvette trembled as she took back the dical report, placing it back in her bag.

"Let’s eat." Ethan instructed Yvette to eat.

Yvette listlessly took a few bites, saying nothing further.

"Yvette, I need a personal assistant. I’ll have Christopher send you the salary offer. Adjust yourself and go to HR for the interview; seize this opportunity." As they left the restaurant, Ethan ntioned.

He sowhat understood Yvette’s personality; she was strong and had a strong sense of dignity.

Giving her money directly, she would certainly refuse, but work was acceptable.

Yvette had once been admitted to ridia A University with the highest scores; her capabilities were undoubtedly strong.

Having just co out of prison, she needed so experience.

Yvette looked at Ethan with eager eyes, seemingly excited. "I... I’ll seize it well, thank you, Mr. Grant."

Ethan said nothing more, letting the driver take Yvette ho before leaving.

Yvette stood where she was, watching Ethan’s car disappear into the distance, not returning ho for a long ti.

Ethan seed different from the others.

At least... he appeared to respect her.

With a bitter smile, Yvette mocked her own pitiful pride.

"Are you Yvette?"

Yvette turned to leave, when a woman erged from a car parked in the courtyard.

The woman was very beautiful, but her skin appeared pale, a kind of sickly beauty.

"Who are you?" Yvette asked cautiously.

"I’m Wendy Bell, Claudia’s sister." Wendy spoke softly, her eyes slightly red. "Sorry if I scared you; I’m not here to harm you, don’t be afraid."

Yvette wanted to flee, but Wendy didn’t seem threatening.

"I’m really sorry, I just heard about what my sister did to you. I genuinely apologize on her behalf." Wendy, eyes reddening, bowed deeply to Yvette.

Yvette stepped back, unable to bear it.

"What... do you want? I won’t drop the case or settle privately, no matter what you say." Yvette shook her head, having resolved not to agree.

"You misunderstand; I’m truly not here to ask you to drop the case. My parents did sothing wrong." Wendy softly reassured. "I actually wanted to et you."

Wendy wore a pure white dress, emitting a transcendent aura, like a Hibiscus Fairy.

She carefully rolled up her sleeves, revealing arms filled with scars from wrist cuts and self-harm.

Yvette froze in shock.

This was Claudia Bell, how could she have...

"Yvette, the reason I wanted to et you is because I know... we belong to the sa world, we’re both unwell." Wendy’s voice was gentle. "I’m sorry, I saw the video of them bullying you."

Yvette turned her gaze away.

"I also experienced campus bullying and was once forced upon against my will without knowing who the person was. These years have been tornting, with constant thoughts of escape." Wendy shared experiences similar to Yvette’s.

Yvette was shocked; how could the great lady of the Bell Family endure these things?

"But recently, my condition improved because I discovered that the person who once pushed into hell was the man I loved most. Sohow... it felt worth it." Wendy blushed slightly while smiling bashfully.

Yvette could tell she truly loved this man.

"Yvette, I hope you can also erge from it, out of the darkness, and try to accept those who have hurt us." Wendy smiled like a blooming white lotus.

If not for her non-belief, Yvette would have thought Wendy intended to spread divine compassion.

"Hah... accept those who hurt ? Does that an all my suffering was deserved?" Yvette couldn’t understand Wendy’s words.

"No, Yvette, don’t misunderstand. I an... being fixated on the past is an eternal wound for you." Wendy shook her head to explain.

"When others throw mud at us, we can use it to plant lotus flowers." Wendy stepped forward, trying to take Yvette’s hand. "Yvette, try to let yourself go."

"..." Yvette thought Wendy was being overly kind.

"When soone throws mud at ... I may not resist, but I can’t grow lotus flowers, for I’ve beco mired in the sludge." Yvette took a step back. "Miss Bell, please go back. Regardless of what you say, I won’t drop the case."

"Yvette, this card contains a hundred thousand dollars. Consider it a little compensation from on my sister’s behalf. Can you accept it? Otherwise... I wouldn’t have peace of mind." Wendy looked at Yvette.

Yvette frowned. "I won’t take your money. Claudia’s harm can’t be asured with money."

"Yvette... I really like you and empathize with you. Can we be friends? I’ll persuade my parents not to trouble you anymore." Wendy’s voice wavered with a hint of tears, looking aggrievedly at Yvette.

Yvette couldn’t understand Wendy’s intentions.

Be friends with her?

Was Wendy overly kind or sowhat delusional?

"I don’t need..."

"Yvette, I was too abrupt today, definitely startled you. Don’t rush to decline. I’ll co find you often, hoping we beco best friends. I’ll protect you." Wendy interrupted, hugging Yvette with a smile.

Yvette’s body stiffened, thinking Wendy was too naive.

Friends?

There was a lingering feeling that Wendy had ulterior motives.
