"It’s very simple." Charlotte had a perplexed expression, thinking, does searching for a company’s address really need guidance?

"Who’s your dad?" Ethan found chatting with this little kid quite amusing.

Christopher was driving, but his eyes were almost glued to the rearview mirror. Was this really Mr. Grant? Playing around with a child?

"You’re my dad." It seed Sumrs was convinced Ethan was his father.

In a child’s world, everything is always simple and not so complicated.

Ethan curled his lips into a smile. He never knew he could be so likable to kids.

He rembered that whenever Chelsea’s little brat saw him, they would cry as if they had seen a devil.

Indeed, this little kid was much more likable. "Give this to , and I’ll buy you a new one, okay?"

Sumrs thought for a mont, then adorably nodded. "If you like it, I’ll give it to you. You don’t need to buy a new one."

"Why not?"

"I don’t want Dad to spend money." Sumrs knew how hard it was to earn money. "Uncle works really hard for money, so Dad must be very tired too."

Ethan didn’t bother to correct Sumrs’ form of address. Even Christopher found it hard to watch, unsure of what Ethan was planning. "Kid, don’t just randomly acknowledge soone as your dad. He’s not your real dad. Your real dad is really sothing, and no one knows who he is."

Sumrs glanced at Christopher and said nothing.

"You talk too much, don’t you?" Ethan frowned.

Christopher dared not say another word.

Sumrs lowered his head and carefully handed the little plush toy to Ethan, then spoke in a very soft voice. "Dad, here you go."

No one knew how much Sumrs longed for a father.

All the other kids had dads, and at the kindergarten’s parent-child events, both parents played gas together, but Sumrs only had his uncle.

His mom was locked away, and he had never t his dad.

Uncle had to work to support him and was too busy to spend much ti with him.

He was always lonely, watching other kids with their parents.

Ethan looked at the little plush toy. Sumrs’ uncle had very limited sewing skills. The doll was both terribly ugly and incredibly shabby.

If Sumrs hadn’t said it was Ultraman, Ethan truly wouldn’t have guessed.

Indeed, children’s imaginations are richer.

...

Grant Villa.

Yvette went to the backyard to search for a shovel in the warehouse.

The warehouse door closed behind her, and soone locked it from the outside.

Yvette glanced back, instantly understanding what was happening.

In fact, she was more sensitive than anyone, but having resisted before and being brutally defeated, she had learned not to resist anymore.

"Are you the girlfriend that the young master found for ?" From the corner, a disheveled man in a black tracksuit snacked on sunflower seeds as he questioned.

Yvette took a step back, wanting to open the door, but it was locked from the outside.

She lowered her eyes and gave a mocking smile. It seed Jayden truly wanted to see her dead.

Once upon a ti, during Yvette’s darkest days, Jayden was her light.

She had given Jayden the only trust she had, but Jayden pushed her into the abyss, making her see how many levels hell had.

"What’s your na?" Yvette tried to soothe the person’s emotions in front of her.

She couldn’t resist, but she had to find a way to protect herself.

"My na is Connor Carter, 39. And you?" The man wanted to overpower Yvette, but Yvette didn’t seem to resist or dislike him.

Previous won would see him and scream as if they had seen a madman, all wanting to flee. But Yvette was still willing to chat with him.

"My na is Yvette Aston, and I’m twenty-six." Yvette sat down not too far from Connor, her face calm and composed.

At this distance, if danger occurs, she might still have a chance to escape.

But the warehouse door was locked from the outside. Escaping would be difficult, so she could only bide her ti and slowly think of a way.

During her five years in prison, Yvette, besides enduring beatings, gradually learned how to protect herself in her own way.

She would calculate the timing, and provoke the female inmates that usually hit her, just when the warden passed by, having them locked in solitary.

If once wasn’t enough, she’d try twice.

After all, she was bound to get hit anyway...

She would secretly put hairs from one inmate into another’s food, making them fight each other.

While she seed to silently endure everything, she was constantly resisting in her own quiet ways.

To Yvette, hysterical resistance was pointless.

She had to be calm, to think, to learn how to strategize.

"I heard from Ms. Charlotte Sumrs that you haven’t been able to find a girlfriend, right?" Yvette asked tentatively.

"Who? Charlotte Sumrs?" Connor munched on seeds and peeled a few peanuts.

"Yeah, she said you couldn’t find a girlfriend. Said you’re sick, a psycho. Also said I’m dirty, and that since I’m so dirty, I should be with soone like you." Yvette smiled at Connor and pointed at the peanuts in his hand. "I’m a bit hungry. Can I have a few?"

Connor was stunned. No woman had ever wanted to eat anything he had touched.
