Chapter 525: Chapter 525 – Jacob Falls for the Queen

Griiiiing!

The tallic sharp sound of the jail cell locking echoed through the long hall of similar cells as I ponder at my current predicant.

After a steady mont, I finally gather all my thoughts to a single word.

“Huh”

That was all.

I look at the surprisingly sufficient space of the cell and nod.

The place wasn’t bad, it had a large space, an okay bed, a small toilet in its own separate place and a bookshelf filled with books that I would like to experience after decades of not touching one.

For a dungeon of prison cells, the sll wasn’t bad here, you’d get used to it after a day or two. All this place needs now is a bit of light for so light/heavy book reading.

Sh- Shing!

I look up at the bulb that lit up after two blinks. It was stringed up with a long cable on the ceiling. It didn’t give much light, nor was it dark too, just enough to warm the eyes.

“Well, that’s solved too, I suppose.” I look around at the lack of company, “And nobody moaning in my ear to want a fuck… you know, this might just be a fine quiet place.”

With nothing to do, I randomly pick up a heavy hardcover book and start reading it. The title wrote ‘Victories of a Long Forgotten General’ but as I was one sentence of reading it, my mind reverted back to a while ago.

I look upon the face of calamity, my dear Abigail and knew it was ti to et The Goddess once more. But to think that her love for would be so much that not only did she not rearrange , she’d even prepared such a thoughtful place for the night.

Oh? You an to say she’s probably very angry and wants to suffer here as punishnt?

How could that be so when everything here is so dandy.

Not one mosquito, I daresay.

I pick up noise of soone coming. Looking up from the book, I see a guard with a soulless body and dark bags under his eyes showing up with a tray.

“Your food.” He gently pushed a tray under the steel gate where there was a large gap from the ground.

Food? Probably so kind of white grub and things that’s more inedible than shit.

I pick up the tray and my eyes glint in sweet surprise.

Not only was it not poison prepared by my sweet bloodsucker, but it was rice mixed with so high-quality beef and tomato soup that was still hot.

I smile, “Knew she cared about .” I nod to the guard, “Thank the chef for making this so late in the night.”

“Huh? You think its specially for you?” The guard had an annoyed look as if he already had enough of such arrogance, “Don’t think you’re so special grub, it’s just the norm here.”

‘He doesn’t look like he’s lying.’ The guard grumbles stuff like ‘I wonder when they’ll send a woman’ as he walks back, ‘So that just ans they really do serve good food here.’

I look down at the tomato soup and its steam with satisfaction, “Maybe prison food is not as bad as people make it out to be.”

The Next Morning…

Ting! Ting! Ting!

“Hey, wake up!”

A familiar voice of a nobody whisked off my sleep. I groan while getting up, cracking my neck to the side, ‘The beds a bit stiff but otherwise okay.’

Outside the cell were none other than Jacob, Alice and an old bald dude with round glasses with official black high work clothes.

Seeing Henry’s smile, Jacob raised a brow, “You seem like you had a good ti here?”

“That I did.” I stand up and stretch thy body, “As a day one review, I’d say prison stuff is not bad honestly. Actually, it feels closely to a decent inn that replaced its walls with steel bars. You should join here, it’s right up your alley, the prison that is.”

“Aha, I’ll pass on that.” Jacob said and pointed the unknown person to .

“You sure? The foods good here.”

“Of course it is.” Jacob said as if it was obvious, “The whole prison are for the high-class people – nobles and rich rchants. The Queen wouldn’t want her highest paying tax payers to sleep in rags.”

“Oh!” I understand as I nod at a few things, “If that’s so then I’d say they need to upgrade a few things around here.”

Jacob clicked his tongue, “How is it you can say that while being in jai-”

Alice barged past him, making the guy fall as she grabbed the jail cell with distress, “Master, are you alright? Did they do inhumane things to you here? It’s alright, co to my bosom I’ll take care of all your problems.”

“No need.” I shrug her suggestion, “If anything, I could spend more ti here as its basically free stay.”

“Oh, its not free and you’d definitely have to pay for staying here.” Jacob said as he gestured the unknown man to co forward, “et Ragdoll, your Lawyer.”

The guy took a step forward and bowed with respect, “It’s an honor to et you, Lord Tax, my na is Ragdoll, Ragdoll Forsure.”

‘Seriously? That’s his na?’ I get to bar, “Just for curiosity, what’s your father’s na?”

“My father’s na is Raydoll Forsure.” The guy happily starts to show off his family line, “His father’s na is Greydoll Forsure and his father’s na is Sexdo-”

“That’s enough.” I lift a hand and he stops.

I lean to Jacob and ask, “Your certain he is the lawyer?”

“For sure.” Jacob smiled. “Regardless of his na, he has a great case record.”

“Yes sir!” The guy said with a mouthful of smile, “342 criminal cases and I only lost 42 of them.”

I turn to Jacob, doubtfully.

“Hey, 42 is a small number when we’re talking about criminal cases.”

“Well, better 42 than 69.” I call out the jailer, “Yo guard, get my ass out of here.”

After a small walk up the dungeon and so gardens and courtyards, we arrive inside the courtroom. We weren’t alone, there was Miriam here already with two other Valkyries standing a distance away from us as we are separated by differing sides.

Jacob continued tapping his feet as he grumbled in annoyance, “Where are they?”

“Patience, this is the Royal Court, we need to endure our decorum.” Ragdoll said nervously.

“I’ve been enduring it for half an hour already.”

Alice nodded, surprisingly, “Yes, even if they are going to delay, this is a bit too much.” She frowned, “I’m getting a bad feeling here.”

“Stomach ache?”

Alice glared at Jacob, “Shut your mouth and it’s not that! It’s just… it’s just… I had this feeling before and it did not bore well.”

“Definite stomach problems.”

Before Alice could retort, I intervene, “Quiet! She’s here.”

With a thrum, the palace door opened and an envoy of guards in order. A loud trumpet bellows as we all kneel, heads down for her arrival.

We continue our stance as long as the trumpet played and finally look up when it finished.

“HAH!”

All eyes turn to Jacob who scread.

The guy pointed his index finger at Abigail, his face full of shock as if he was seeing sothing unbelievable.

Next to him, Alice, had a frozen look. She looked not in awe, but fear.

Jacob’s finger remains in the air as he turns to speedily then looking at Abigail before finally looking at the bloated belly of hers. His eyes widen spontaneously before they went up and he fell on the court grounds, unconscious.
