Were there no totems in Cynark?

Of course not. Being the greatest nation on Brihma, it was the only nation that could claim to possess a totem-level existence. Though, it takes a lot for Cynark to move such existences.

"Is it the Woeful Rot?" Deimos asked his uncle. As recently as of yesterday, Deimos has been updated on what has happened in Wortham Principality, specifically the kind of people that Duke has t recently.

Among which the Church of Plagues and Diseases frequented the Duke’s palace the most. So, there was a link there, which Deimos can’t just ignore easily.

And being aware of his nephew’s prior ddling, Wortham just smiled at him. "It’s better if you don’t think who it is. Just focus on cracking the weapon below. Find a way to replicate it, then make it stronger." Duke Wortham was in no mood to entertain his nephew, he just gave one look at him and spoke out his absolute will, which Deimos can’t deny.

"I apologize uncle if this offends you. But I care who you are sending, considering they might co after Amir in search of a trail." At such words, the duke just gave his nephew a deep look, before asking. "What number is it? 8th one I presu?"

Hearing the question, Deimos was a bit scared for a mont before sighing. "Yes, this is the 8th one. He carries the most potential."

"Are you using that failure once again?" Seeing no answer, Duke Wortham just shook his head. "Your silence is answered enough..." Shaking his head in disappointnt, Duke just flicked a finger at Deimos, throwing him out of his room. "The one I sent after the so-called Rat King is indeed Woeful Rot who exists in the form of a young woman. But don’t worry, I have requested it to not cause any harm to commoners or your grandson."

"I thank the Duke." With his head down, Deimos showed his gratitude out of the room, before getting up and leaving as fast as he could.

Would requesting a totem like Woeful Rot, really work?

Sowhat yes, the totems under the control of gods and their servants are restricted in their actions a lot. Unable to freely exercise their strength in the mortal world, they are also limited by the anchor they use as their vessel, which limits their strength further.

But the issue was never about their strength, to begin with.

"Mavis, go and inform my grandson that an important figure will pay him a visit. He should be ready to receive her." He couldn’t leave the fortress, he had an important job here, so the most he could do was warn his grandson.

After which, he ordered his to end any further surveillance of the Duke’s castle. It would be foolish to keep them in the vicinity when the Duke had already been aware of their existence. Not to ntion, this little fact when put on in the open, made it harder for Deimos to do it anymore. As it would be treated as a breach of privacy on Duke’s end, and he might suffer due to it.

’Uncle’s domain is limited, only a ter or so, he shouldn’t have beco aware of the eyes so early and easily... aning there is a ghost among my n.’ It would be a troubling matter if there were spies lurking among his n.

Specifically, spies that work for his godly Uncle.

’The issues keep piling on.’

"I am going to die anyway, why should I help you?" With all the things Paradi has seen the psychotic dwarf and his n do, the promises of the dwarf hold no aning in Paradi’s eyes.

Does he team him like a fool? It was easy to see that the mont he loses his value, death will co to him. So why bother?

"Where was all this arrogance when your companions were dying?" I asked the man who just turned his head away. "Give assurance, otherwise you can forget about the ships docking here."

"... Don’t be troubleso... There are worse things in this woman than death."

It’s been a few hours since Paradi learned that the face-changing monster that had tornted and killed most of his n was none other than a dwarven child. An absurd realization that was followed by the fact that this Dwarf alone was not at the helm of these n.

There was soone even higher than the dwarf, soone who appeared more sensible than the rest of these n. Soone who he can negotiate.

"Stop it, we need him in more ways than one," Sheva said, looking at the groveling man who was beaten black and blue with his limbs broken, but not bleeding.

All of these were done to make it impossible for him to run, nothing more.

"Miss, there is no need to show kindness to people like him," I say, showing my distaste for Paradi, who is only involved in this business to fulfill the desires of lustful custors and nothing more.

That was the only value Paradi saw in these people. He didn’t see the value in their organs, their blood, and the very fact that they could be used in the cyborg program that was being run in Pulgasari.

The bodies sold that way would have fetched a higher price, though they might have incurred a heavier risk due to it.

"Don’t be like that... didn’t this man catch you the mont you placed your eyes on him? aning he possesses an ability akin to danger perception."

At those words, the eyes of Paradi blossod for a bit, but his mood soured as the young dwarf spoke about how there was no need for such a weak ability anyway.

"With master here, why the need for such an ability."

"You don’t need to think too much, go and have so rest, leave the slaver to ." Although a bit annoyed I finally left the scene.

I have done enough, the rest is up to Sheva.

Coming out of Sheva’s interrogation room. I ca across the two slaves who were silently eating food in the corner.

"Did anyone among them say anything?"

"The girl did as soon as she confird she was safe... as for the boy, he says nothing." At such a ntion, I nodded to my n and ca to stand on the sa level as the boy, who looked at with curious eyes.

"Boy, say your na," I asked but got no answer in return. But I did gain an additional gaze from the girl, who seed only a few years younger than the body of Krogal, aning . "What about you?" I asked.

And she answered straight away. "Tera Youdi."

I nodded at her answer. "Good," I said, before looking toward the boy and saying. "Learn sothing from her," I say, containing my curiosity from infiltrating his mind.

’Not now... not so soon.’ I say to myself, as I leave with so disappointnt.

It was then that the boy spoke. "Prithvi," he said words that made stop partway. "What did you say?"

I turned to look at him. But he was not looking at to begin with. He looked toward the girl who still had so food on her face, while pointing toward her. "Tera." then he pointed toward himself. "Prithvi."

"Ho, seems like this boy doesn’t respect his seniors." One of the n stepped forward in order to give Prithvi so good lessons. But I stopped him. "No, he doesn’t understand you."

"??"

"He has no knowledge of our language... " I say with a smile, before turning and gesturing to the others to leave the two kids alone as I convened them out of the safe house.

"Boss, what is this about?" They were curious, just as I was before.

"Is he a foreigner from outside Brihma?" Another one asked, to which I can only shake my head in denial.

"Did anyone notice how odd his clothes were?"

"Too smooth, but strong... if not for them being covered in gri and blood, I would have considered them to be a noble’s clothes. But it’s the art on it that confuses , a bit too perfect to be woven in clothes so easily. Almost like a canvas painting."

"Then what about his na?" I asked again, but this ti, one had an answer, much to my disappointnt.

"Prithvi, it’s Sanskrit for the na of our world, Earth. The boy is nad in a dead dialect."

"You an to say, the boy is a ghost from the past?"

"No, I never did say it. What I am saying is this language is a dead one in our world, as no one speaks it... but there are people that enter this world too, who still study this language freely."

"... the boy cos from the mortal world?"

"Can’t say for certain, but master asked for him for a reason. And your great boss Crow just found out the reason... aren’t I amazing?" I asked flaunting my insight. But the rest just scoffed. "Is it really that easy to find people like this?"

"Yeah, aren’t there a bunch of dwarven tribes who worship Vekantaraman as their teacher and even adopted his na? The sa might be the case here."

"True... Without full confirmation, we can’t say anything."

"Boss, if you know Sanskrit, why don’t you go and give it a try there? The boy might react?"

"Well, let’s not do it now..."

"You, you just scared that you might be wrong."

"Or that you don’t know Sanskrit properly... isn’t this a mandatory subject for all leadership positions?"

"Oh shut up. I only had two years’ worth of training."
