Death had different anings for Daemons, as to them, there were two kinds of death.

One which Blue Rose went through, where her soul was fractured and spread throughout Durum. And then there was a death which Lakyus experienced, where the only thing he can retain after his death was mories.

And it’s the later death that the God of Sun didn’t like at all. Because those that dare to co back from it go against the will of the world.

"He doesn’t dare to act out in the open as long as the threat of Red Sun remains. But it doesn’t an he won’t be looking for us." Lakyus was a shadow of who he was in the past. A being way past his pri and unable to ever step back into the realms of Daemons.

But that’s what makes it all scary.

There was more than one way in this world to obtain power. If the old way he followed was broken, he could have found a new way, just like the totem of Thousand Faced Tree did. But we all know what ended up happening.

And considering how silent the church of Red sun has been, one can assu that Lakyus hasn’t walked on that path yet. aning, in his eyes, it was not worthwhile.

"Seems like you haven’t been blind to my expectations."

The mission she gave was too restrictive, it won’t be weird for to lose, considering how lacking I was when it ca to the goal of this mission.

I didn’t even know anything about the objectives. Nor was I aware over how to treat the boy called Henry. What kind of actions of mine would be acceptable in her eyes.

So I did all I could under the constraints of such request. I never cheated and let things go their way. Though, the biggest issue was the amount of danger I could expose Henry to, or the amount of damage I could cause him.

Enough to create a trauma, but not enough to destroy him ntally and physically. Everything needs to be calculated when it cos to Henry, considering he was the most important part of pawn in this ga for .

She intended to check how I would act, and she didn’t mind using Henry for it.

"But from your words, it feels like I won’t punish you for your failures?" She asked with a curious smile. Which made laugh with so worry as well. "Well, I did fail to bring you that relic, so I can understand. But I beseech you to show so rcy of . I still have lots of things to do in this world."

"Of course."

I never dared to ask her to punish Remira just like she intended to do to . I never dared to ask her of anything in this case. Because only a fool would dare to do such a thing in this particular case.

Request of such kind requires the two parties to be on the sa level. And we were not.

So I just agreed to her if it ant that she would work with out of her own will. That was the best case scenario possible. But never, in my mind I would have thought, what her request would turn out to be.

"I beg your pardon?"

"Your true na, I wish to know your real na."

"A worthless na of a worthless being, it’s too light of a punishnt for ."

"I am showing you my rcy as you asked. A simple na-reveal, and you can be free from all the misery which I would have imparted on you due to your failure."

"Sad to say, I can’t recall it. It’s been centuries."

"Then think about it, or should I just help you find it?"

"..."

I really can’t go out of this unscathed.

******

Opening my eyes, I found myself bound on a small ship, not too far from was Sheva, who seed to have been fed so dicines from the slls of it, and she was breathing at a softer pace than before.

A sign, that her state had been stabilized.

But my current status was still not enough to distract from the loss I just entertained in Kairut’s house.

’My na is out.’

She now holds the lease of my life, in a way, the mont I grow to the level I intend to, that na will co to haunt back.

I was ready for having my soul fractured, even ready to give out a clone of mine as entertainnt. But I never expected her to ask for my na. Which went to show, that she was much smarter than others I have t till now. For she has understood what I intend to do just after few etings with .

’That horned bastard never caught on to it, but she did... did she found out about Baldar? Was she aware of him and what I gained of him?’

I slipped, there was a ti I slipped, and she caught on to it. It’s why her request was of a na that hadn’t been called out for centuries, and when it cos to this world, never. To most, the na of an insignificant being like is nothing. To them, I was a re insect that would face death if they just sneezed at .

But she, she caught on to it. Turning the whole situation a tab bit troubleso.

’I lost in this negotiation.’

A massive lost, which would co to bite back in the future. Or I can always treat her like a queen, never give her a reason to go against .

’Or, let her experience what Lakyus experienced. Wonder if she is big of a cockroach like Lakyus or not.’

Either bind her together with forever, or banish her from this world. These were the only option left for to do.

"Water... is there so water here?" I shouted loudly, but without the sound of so waves that caused the boat to shake, there was nothing. ’Have they left?’ I wondered for a bit, before shaking my head.

Considering the situation, only the two Arch mages have left, the dwarf should still be here.

But he doesn’t intend to co close to . Probably as a precaution, considering he should be alone with us.

Or it’s that I thought too much, and he ca toward with a curious glance before asking. "Did you expect to fall into this state after betraying your country?"

"Betray?... di.. Didn’t they promise a new life?"

"They might have, but you are a criminal of our country, it isn’t hard for us to extradite you from whichever new life you can escape to."

"All my actions were led under duress, I had no intentions to betray anyone."

"That’s for the court to decide. I just ca here to let you know, this is the last ti you will be free. So enjoy the fresh breeze of the sea as much as you can."

"I am still a minor, can’t I appea.."

"Traitors rarely get to appeal, you are not as luck as her." Mocking for a bit, the officer left to wallow in my despair.

But there was sothing to be gained from this.

"They won’t let you go, for the cris Max and I committed?"

"You are different, you hold value, and they need a scapegoat." Sheva was awake, she must have been awake for a while, considering how her breathing changed when the dwarf said those words to . "And compared to you, I am virtually useless. I am just a pawn in comparison, not aware of anything."

With those words, the mood between the two of us dropped, as she was aware of what I ant with these words.

Though, it didn’t take long for her to speak of a different topic. "Why did you attack Henry?"

"..."

"I lied about one thing to you and everyone else."

"Speak of it."

"Jester, he ordered to bring Henry into the ruins by any ans possible..."

"Why?"

"To pick the fruit, of course, Henry was the only one who could pick it without being hard. And it went smoothly until those things awakened."

"Still didn’t explain, why attack Henry... even the words you spoke later were a bit weird."

"Just consider it a mistake, a heat in passion mont. My mind had turned to mush and I made a mistake. That’s all."

"..." I never intended to speak of the reason at this point, nothing would be better than the reason that Sheva would conjure up on her own.

But while she was making up the reasons on her own. I spoke so odd words. "The floor with wheat, we have to give a life, a sacrifice to enter deeper."

When I spoke those words, she shut up.

"But I rember seeing Captain with Rashid."

"She found an alternative way that I am not aware of. While the one I gained from Jester." I spoke while opening my shirt. "Well, this is it." I showed her a small sprout growing out of it.

"What is that?" Sheva asked, showing so worry. Which is what I was looking for.

"A countdown, I would turn into one of those corpse bushes if nothing is done in ti." I explained, which made Sheva shut her mouth further. "Captain might be able to help you."

"If you are thinking about burning it with her flas, then I will be burned as well. So that is not the answer to such predicant."

"Nor should we focus on this... as considering what that mister spoke about. Seems like I won’t be as free if I stayed on this ship... guess, I trusted Rashid a bit too much."
