Hearing the words of her mother, Remira sowhat understood her dreams and goals. She wished to prevent the tragedy from happening again. A noble goal in the eyes of a third party. But there was sothing that stood out to Remira.
Oddness.
It was odd that her mother would focus on desiring sothing from her daughter instead of wondering how she had been all these years.
Would a mother, who was ready to give her life away for her daughter make such a choice? Remira didn’t think so. There were not many emotions in her mother’s eyes besides so hint of pride and love.
She is not the kind to properly recall what her mother used to be like. But she can clearly recall the kinship she had with her, how she would always hold Remira in her arms whenever Remira was moody or sad.
A change then? It’s been over two decades. Enough ti for one to grow and evolve with ti.
Because at the end of it, a person is a culmination of their experience and the chemicals in their mind. It’s what molds their souls.
But Remira was in no mood to look for such an answer, whether it was a genuine change in her mother’s personality or one brought by so form of manipulation. She won’t listen to her, nor her request when it cos to this subject.
But she also understood that her mother wouldn’t stop asking her, and from the fact that Doctor Dinesh had stayed in the sa room as them, the woman in front of her was speaking as Professor Lake and not her mother.
So what to do in this case?
A misdirection with so truth in it. "That being works for the Republic of Yethel... that’s all I can tell you about him." She ended up speaking so truth, but no more or anymore less.
There was also no use in explaining the deeds of this monster, she had given her mother a fair warning as well as others in this room. There was no need to go into details and give out more information that was needed about that being.
The more they have, the higher the chance of them accidentally stumbling on him.

’Hmm, Farhad died again.’ I thought to myself, feeling the distance and the last face that I saw.
There were a bunch of undead and an old man around him. Which surprised , not going to lie.
I never expected Remira to find the little seed I had planted so early. For now, all I can hope is that she doesn’t learn much more than this.
’From the looks of it, they understood what Farhad was.’ I thought to myself, recalling the past when I t a couple of people in succession, shared so knowledge, and expanded my own horizons in the process.
All of it is done to create sothing that can’t be created.
But enough about that.
"It’s blinding." Said Max, while looking at the bright sun.
"Max?" On the side, Sheva ca running towards him, holding his falling body, before asking. "Did you recover your mory?"
"You... who?" He asked... before shaking his head and suddenly recalling a na in his head. "Sheva..., yes... I am Max, Max Parker."
An ill mind would eventually recover, not to ntion, the source of the corruption was none other than a dead god that now wished to revive through Max’s body.
An unexpected occurrence that I never expected, not one bit. But I have understood one thing. This dead god was a lot smarter than others I have co across.
"It doesn’t seem you have fully recovered," Sheva said, before carrying Max’s light body under a shade, to let him rest.
They were currently in one of the outposts my church used in the past for reconnaissance in Bothal. As knowledge is power I won’t ingrain myself into the lands of two legendaries before making sure that I don’t get caught.
There were always accidents and I did get caught by that old dragon. And if not for luck, it would have been harder for to escape her grasp unscathed.
But enough about , let’s focus on our friend. Who looked at the bright sun, while his eyes teared up due to never moving his head. A painful experience for others as people might lose their sight due to it. But to Max, it was just a slight bit of discomfort.
"Sheva... can you please tell , what happened?" After a bit of contemplation, Sheva started to recount everything she could recall.
She starts with Max’s daughter, his reason for revenge, before focusing on the rest of the story.
How they t, what they did together, and the others they t during this journey. She told all she recalled, while Max stayed there, looking at the sun, never blinking nor saying anything.
Like a statue, he just listened to Sheva’s words silently, trying to form an image in his mind while he slowly recovered so pieces of his mory.
And when Sheva’s recollection of the events was over, instead of asking about his daughter or whether Jester had contacted them. His question was a bit bizarre. "That boy, Krotal... is he here?"
A question that surprised Sheva, before she ended up nodding. "He currently acts as a scout and has taken the job of handing us so rations, nothing more."
"Good... when he cos next ti. Send him to ."
"..." Sheva turned silent for a bit, wondering what was wrong with Max. And she didn’t hide her questions at all.
"Max, tell , what happened there?" She asked, ignoring the issue with Krotal for a mont. But Max just shook his head. "Even after what you told , I can recall little of the events, it’s just a blur to . It feels like a false mory." His words surprised Remira.
But more than that, they surprised even more.
’He, he noticed?’
In truth, it was impossible to recover what was lost to corruption, cutting it away is the best choice of action in such a situation and I did just that.
He was important to the plan, I can’t lose him so early in the plan. And watching him walk like a corpse was even worse.
So I did what I was good at, forcefully infused so of the mories that I had seen of his before adding so more on my side. I hope it helps him gain so clarity.
And in the end, it did. A successful operation: a broken soul. With enough ti, the injuries will hill and the broken parts in his mory will be filled with his imagination that he conjured up to make sense of the mories that I stuffed in his head.,
A perfect win-win for .
But even with an injured mind, he seed to have seen through it. Which in general is next to impossible. This can’t happen, unless soone or sothing with greater spiritual strength than mine, helped him.
And who could it be if not that thousand-faced Tree?
A mindless god that wore the skin of its victims.
’This is going to be dangerous then... the contract between him and has broken, I can’t look deeply into his mind anymore. While the intrusion of that thing would be heavier than before.’
I didn’t understand what thods this god used and what it was planning. I had little knowledge about it and even a little understanding of what it was. So facing it at the mont was no more than a suicide.
I might die if I try to ss with Max anymore.
But I just can’t help it.
This was really fun.
And besides, this has proven one theorem of mine. And if I am not wrong, I can understand why Max might be looking for Krotal.
"False mory? I just told you what I can recall, there were no lies in my words. You can even ask that disciple of yours. She might further corroborate the events with ."
"No no, that’s not what I an. I know you are not lying and things might have actually happened the way that you ntioned they happened. But this feeling, it’s hard to explain..." The tired Max spoke while his head shifted to the ground.
"The fear that I experienced... the faces I saw.... There were all sorts of creatures there. From human to beast, all of them hung over the branches of this massive tree... " The mories that surfaced in his mind were not the ones planted by .
His fear was genuine, the things he was were genuine and after reaching a certain point, he didn’t even dare to ntion what he saw. "...I... I... Need to find Krotal... I need to make him my disciple."
"??" Sheva understood that Max had truly lost it. His mories and sanity might have recovered through so miracle. But he was in no state to fight ever again. He was never in any position to walk on the battlefield.
For he has lost it.
"What about your other disciple? Fahna?"
"No... no... Bloodline... An inheritor of my blood."
"..."
"You don’t seem to be in any state to take another student... I will try to contact that woman. And see what she has to say in this." The woman was obviously Fahna Maisel, who had left not too long ago after recovering from her injuries.
"No... I need Krotal, that boy... you and strong. Able to handle the blood... and the blade."
"I need him... we need him."
