"This does make things a bit problematic. I wish to see your regret as I kill you." The woman said to , a woman I barely rember. Even the notes I found about my past history barely ntioned her. aning, she was not as important as she thought herself to be.
And when soone of her strength is not important in my books, that would an only one thing.
She was predictable and boring. Just like now, giving away her intentions from the first ti she noticed my minions as well as my gaze.
Even using her own employee from the Tower as her replacent, when she left the group to search for . Though, from her ability to cast such a powerful spell, I started to wonder if I looked down on her too much.
But no worries, life always finds a way. "Well, I find it hard to believe I would regret any of my past choices, no matter the harm they might have caused to you and in return, bring trouble to ." I was not one to regret, I had always looked forward, exploring new stories and things, just for the sake of my amusent.
And as long as sothing entertains , I would never regret it. Though I fear if nothing is done at the mont, things might turn really sour.
Remira was enough to bring unpredictability into the mix. Her strength was neither too strong to break this ga, nor too weak to not even matter at all.
She was a perfect wild card. Though, the sa can’t be said about this woman, who can hide in the dark and waste as much ti as she needs.
"Oh, one of your n just died. Seems like you have earned so ire from your companions." I said, looking toward the won that remained unfazed. Guess, I was expecting too much from her.
"Stop with your gas Jester, they knew you might try sothing. It’s why they brought here and I don’t intend to disappoint them."
"And although killing you is hard due to your penchant for escaping into the dreams, there is still sothing fun I can do." A rune blossod from her hand, while materials started to flow out of her space bag that she kept on her side. rging with the magic circle and forming a specific magic that felt dangerous, even to .
"Are you going to use that on ?" I asked, feeling my sides lock up and my connections to my minions started to worsen in the re presence of this rune. And without the eyes of my minions, I would have no insight into the world or the things that were currently going around the whole city.
The only way left for was to either escape back to the dreams and wait it all out. Or remain in Farhad’s body.
"Hey, there is no need for such a thing. Adam and I made up, I helped him out of the cell and now he is the one leading the ceremony." Panic was setting in.
My death doesn’t matter. But I sure as hell won’t be missing what happens in this story. A story that took ages to craft.
"Oh poor clown, I am not going to fall for your words. After dealing with you, I would deal with that annoying Anna. Since the ti I ca here seven years ago, she never left alone." Even though her lips didn’t move, from the brainwaves, I can feel a bit of anger in her.
Was it jealousy? No, this woman who I barely rember doesn’t seem to be such a shallow person.
But enough about her.
"Think it through Kass, what is there to be gained by ruining my fun?"
"I am doing it because that’s the only thing that will phase you." She spoke as if she knew deeply.
But, if she did. How and why do I barely have any recollection of her?
Though, as if listening to my prayers. An explosion sounded from fact away that shook the whole sewer and a huge part of the city.
Causing Kassandra to look to the side with frustration. "That bastard is here." The bastard in her na is none other than another one of the rising Titans among the military.
Wilhelm Faust, a man who was the creator of the revolutionary mage armor based on hydraulics to turn a paper-weak mage into a walking tank.
"Doesn’t matter." She doesn’t know why Faust ca here.
After the negotiations were postponed after the curse disaster, the mages took the job of hunting down the culprit, while the military focused on the defense against anything unexpected. As many in the army had next to no immunity to the curse and hence fell asleep.
Making their party very weak in turn.
It was why the mages never thought that soone of Faust’s caliber would leave his post and defense and reach this place.
And as he was soone from the outside, he directly broke the Never ending Domain that took lots of material to cast.
A domain whose whole essence was to never end and make your enemies go in a circle, without any end in sight or a way to escape.
Though, all of that money has been burnt to ashes and now, the radiation from the sealing rune that she was building in her hand was detected by Faust.
After breaking her domain and probably rescuing the mages there, he turned towards her, along with another powerful entity, that she had been friends with for the last five years.
So, she chose to abandon her plan.
Throwing the sealing rune that she had built on , who was already bound by the rope-like flas of Maisel. Freeing all the minions in turn and cutting away my insight by a huge margin.
"Enjoy, you bastard!" She cursed before her body turned into dust and she disappeared from the scene.
Though not too long after, two tallic arms broke through the door and were ready to fire at , before they ca to a halt after seeing my appearance.
"You, you look sowhat familiar." He asked before another woman walked from his back and started to look around for our mutual friend. "She escaped!" Disappointnt and anger can be felt on her face, while the roars of monsters and animals ca from the other end of the hall.
Making wonder, just how many beasts and monsters she had contracted with.
"You there... I know those flas. And that face."
"Speak, who are you?"
The man in the tallic armor that seed oddly familiar to the automatons the Dwarfs were building three decades ago, asked an obvious question. A question whose answer was showing my tongue.
"Aaa Kan..." I tried speaking, but the man just stopped in between. "Soone cut your tongue?"
"Nod if it was the man that bound you."
I shook my head in denial to such a question, as that would put against Maisel, and hence turn suspicious in the eyes of this man.
"Don’t listen to him, my child told , he is not alive."
"So an undead. Which is even odder, considering what Maisel’s fire does to the undead." There was no fear in the voice of the man in the armor, he hunched down and looked at my bindings closely.
"Kassandra was here, she probably planned to use him sohow or even kill him."
"Can you write?" He asked an obvious question, to which I nodded.
"Good then! You are an intelligent undead and so you will tag along with ."
"I would suggest against it, Marshall Maisel left this thing here for a reason."
"Of course and the reason is because this is the corpse of his son. As for whether the soul residing in this body is his son, it can be seen how he is still alive."
"But there is so reason why Maisel was forced to bind his son."
At those words, I shook my head, attracting their attention.
"Seems like my expectations were right, this one knows what’s up."
*****
Kassandra still recalls that fateful day.
Usually, she barely slept in her youth, as horrific dreams of her past would always haunt her.
But on one of the rare days that she went to sleep, she must have experienced a wonderful dream. The next day, she had the urge to go to the library, which was odd for a peasant girl like her.
And it would have been close to impossible for soone of her stature to even enter such a place, but due to the new literacy programs released in the country. She was given a free pass and hence was able to co to a library and pick out a book at random.
A book that she could barely read. And when she couldn’t, instead of closing it and choosing sothing simple, she would turn the page again, as if looking forward to what was next.
Though, she soon noticed she was not acting herself and had broken free from the illusion that was cast on her mind.
Much of the existence that was the cause of this is surprising.
"My oh my! Such a talent." Was the voice in her head.
A voice that had a habit to choose his targets and urge them to turn pages on the book he wanted to read, as it couldn’t do such a simple thing on its own.
Though scared at first, Kassandra soon befriended this weird ghost that lived in her head and soon started to learn letters and words not of this world.
She even learned magic from him.
And in his own words."You are a talented ntalist, illusions would be easy for you." Even though she wanted to play with dreams, like how he did. She was forced to learn from him sothing entirely else.
Making the ghost a kind of master to her.
Though, only in her adulthood, did she understand how wrong she had been then.
’I will make him suffer.’
She vowed to herself, ignoring the plight of the people of Durum were suffering right below her, while she flew out of the city.
