Xu Feng’s practice sowhat paid off. While the two won still regarded him with disdain, but at the very least there was no tea spillage.

The only tea that needed to be spilled, was about the backyard drama...

But he wasn’t interested in that stuff...

After the two sipped their tea, they invited the younger generation to take a seat.

Old Lady Xuan was much better at hiding her thoughts than her daughter-in-law. She was also gifted with the few words she shared. "Xuan Yang is a scholar, all they do is read books, if there is anything wrong in the future, you will have to take more care of him."

Lady Xuan’s eyes flinched subtly as the older woman ’belittled’ her perfect son. "My Yang is very good in all things; all he needs is an heir." Her voice didn’t conceal the pride in the slightest. She was like a proud housewife in Xu Feng’s original world.

A Dongn mother who would share all her child’s prizes and accomplishnts with other housewives. Even if her child took a pee in the toilet without a spill. She had to show the other mothers her child was superior and so was she.

It seed as if invisible daggers were being exchanged in an instant as the two won exchanged a quick, piercing glance.

Xuan Yang had remained near silent the entire ti they’d been here, from his greeting to the serving of tea, he hadn’t said more than a dozen words.

The presence of the servants inside the pavilion was sothing Xu Feng found himself longing for.

All the servants of the Xuan family and Nanshan residence who were present for this eting were confined to a nearby tree. They were ordered to wait patiently for their masters to finish this elaborate display of dominance.

The tension in the air was thick, and Xu Feng couldn’t help but wonder how much longer this unnecessary eting would last.

Lady Xuan and Old Lady Xuan made pleasant and unpleasant small talk while Xuan Yang would occasionally add a word to keep the conversation civil.

Xu Feng was giving off the icy aura of a wealthy young mistress when he was actually a village bumpkin. This wasn’t what anyone would expect of a new bride.

As Lady Xuan peeped at the young ger she wondered if she made a mistake, the ger had been more straight forward when he t...But he did make strange demands and even asked for a contract.

She already regretted the marriage, and it had only been a day. But looking at the handso ger with clearly good blood lineage, although he was too tall, her grandchild would make a good political marriage even if it was a ger.

Every second seed to drag on because of the unspoken power struggle.

While Lady Xuan was silently counting her chickens before they hatched, the wiser Old Lady Xuan was also assessing her temporary granddaughter-in-law.

It was too short a ti to judge the ger, but Grandmother Xuan was satisfied so far. While Xu Feng didn’t fawn over the Xuans, if he was a serious bride of the family, he would be level headed unlike the flashy and hot headed daughter-in law sitting beside her.

While everyone was making plans about Xu Feng and his unborn child, all he could do was hope that it would all co to an end.

Xu Feng missed Si and San’s companionship. Si, the cute little troublemaker and San, the know it all, Xuan Yang fan girl.

He didn’t have to talk much when it was just the three of them making clothes, or organizing a room. The friendly bickering between the girls always made him feel at ho in this new world.

As the morning went on, Old Lady Xuan continued her attempts to learn more about Xu Feng’s personality, casting knowing glances every now again. Lady Xuan continuously interjected whenever she could, complinting her son in every sentence.

It was clear to anyone listening to their conversation that the two won were not acting in harmony. Their intimidation sche was falling flat.

After the appropriate ti, the greeting moved from outside to inside the main reception hall of the Flowering courtyard. The greeting of the matriarchs turned into the eting of the Xuan family patriarchs.

The Xuan patriarch, Xuan Yang’s father—Muyang—was very closed off at first but seed taken by the beautiful ger and his "refined" personality. Even Xu Feng knew he wasn’t refined.

The forr patriarch, Old Xuan—Muchen—was also quiet as he assessed the ger, his eyes often landing on his silver hair and deep red mole.

Like his wife, the patriarch seed to be more blunt with his words and actions, not living up to the legacy of the last generation.

Xuan Muyang carelessly brought up a sensitive subject before the group parted ways for lunch, "After the marriage is concluded, the ger will be matched with Xuan Jian."

The marriage was still new, and Xuan Yang’s father was already pairing up his "bride" with his lover. Xuan Yang couldn’t keep up the neutral face he’d held for so many hours.

The veins on his head pulsed as he gritted his teeth and boldly glared at his father. The man had nearly a dozen concubines, he would never understand Xuan Yang’s feelings. Sex and marriage were only gas of strategy and power for him.

If Xu Feng wasn’t already married to his son, the Xuan patriarch would most likely take the ger as his own concubine.

Xuan Yang quickly collected himself, and donned his previous air of indifference.

It was only a split second, but Xu Feng noticed his slip up as the matriarchs of the family engaged in a heated debate about how they would get the most use out of Xu Feng.

Xuan Jian’s grey eyes indicated so sort of immortal bloodline, that was why the family adopted the orphan. Pairing him with Xu Feng would lead to more immortal bloodline children in the Xuan family. If they were strong enough, they would be adopted.

Xu Feng sat silently with a serene face as he learned about the immortal bloodlines. The two won were doing him a favor as they bickered pretentiously, wishing they could tear each other apart.
