Chapter 7: Simple And Honest Villagers

Translator: Vesper

“Today, I heard the children say that you taught them to read a book and also so words. That is why I thought of inviting you to teach the children in our village to learn so words,” saying that, Yang Zhu gave Ning ng Yao an expectant gaze.

Ning ng Yao beca stunned. So that was why... When she taught those children how to read words, she was only doing it because of so interest. Now, the village head wanted her to teach the village children so words. That...

“Village Head, I...”

“Girl, is there any problem?”

Ning ng Yao felt a little helpless, “I’m afraid I might tarry their future.”

“You don’t have to worry. We only want them to know more words and we have no intention of letting them join the examination. Having an additional skill ans having more future opportunities to make a living,” Yang Zhu replied once he heard Ning ng Yao’s concern.

Ning ng Yao pondered over it and finally nodded her head in agreent, “If the villagers agree to let teach them, then I am willing to. I can only teach them how to read and write, as well as how to count, but that will not be enough if they want to pass the imperial examination.”

Ning ng Yao had her own reasons to agree. When she ca to this village, she had wanted an opportunity to blend with the villager but the opportunity never ca. This was the best opportunity for her even though it would waste much of her ti.

There was a smile on Yang Zhu’s wrinkled face and he nodded repeatedly, “Good, good, then I will thank you on behalf of the village children.” He proceeded to bow but Ning ng Yao quickly helped him up.

“Village Head, are you doing this to put in a difficult position? You are an elder, how can you be giving a bow?” Ning ng Yao frowned at him.

“Hehe, alright, then you can just skip the formalities and call Uncle,” Yang Zhu said buoyantly.

“Okay, Uncle.”

“Ai, I will tell this news to the rest.” After saying this, he jolted out the door happily, leaving Yang Le Le to stay at Ning ng Yao’s place.

“Yao Yao, my father has always been like this so you shouldn’t mind him,” Yang Le Le rubbed her nose as she said awkwardly.

Ning ng Yao lightly shook her head, “It’s alright, it is good that White Mountain Village has a village head like him.”

Yang Le Le’s face beca happy. She was always happier to hear soone praise her father rather than her, but then she thought of sothing and frowned slightly.

“Yao Yao, do you know why everyone knew you taught the children so words?” Yang Le Le suddenly opened her mouth.

Ning ng Yao was confused and asked, “Why?”

“It’s because of Yang Xiu Er,” Yang Le Le said unhappily.

Why was she not surprised? “Her? What did she do?”

Since Ning ng Yao had asked, Yang Le Le told her what Yang Xiu Er did.

Ning ng Yao let out a scornful smile. Yang Xiu Er was that sort of person. In this short period of knowing her, Ning ng Yao already knew what sort of person she was. That was why she was not upset when such a thing happened. Yang Xiu Er did a good job because she was now able to assimilate faster into the village.

“Oh right, Yao Yao, how much do you plan on charging?” Yang Le Le thought out of the blue. Her father had forgotten to ask before he ran out. He really was a helpless man.

“I don’t plan on charging any fee, I’m only teaching them words leisurely, and I’m not lacking in a small amount of money,” Ning ng Yao lightly shook her head. She had no need to rely on charging a fee to feed herself, but that amount was precious to the villagers. It might even be enough for them to feed themselves for as long as a month.

The gaze Yang Le Le directed at Ning ng Yao was a bit complex. She knew Ning ng Yao well, but seeing her like this made Yang Le Le feel ashad.

“Yao Yao, it’s good that I’m able to know you.”

“I want to go to the town tomorrow morning; do you want to co along with ?” Ning ng Yao looked at Yang Le Le and asked. She rembered that Yang Le Le’s embroidery work was likely completed.

Yang Le Le nodded her head, “I want to go. My embroidery work is all done and I want to sell it to buy so supplies ho. Yao Yao, can you help with so flower patterns when we’re back?”

“You can take your work here anyti. And before I forget, is there a carpenter in the village?” Ning ng Yao suddenly thought that the number of chairs and tables she had in the house would not be enough. Before she could start teaching, she would need to start with the preparations first.

“There is! Follow !”

The two of them walked to the village, but they did not see anyone until they arrived in front of Yang Le Le’s house. There were many people crowding inside and they were discussing the matter of Ning ng Yao agreeing to teach the children.
